  1. Whenever you have a situation like the Miami shootout or the Bank of America shootout; you will have controversy. In both cases the bad guys had superior fire power and were playing offense not defense (state of mind). Had the LAPD had .308 rifles the shootout would have been much shorter, had they had 50 Cal Barrett’s it would have been over in two rounds; but they didn’t. Why would anyone think that THP buying .357 Sigs means they are a better round? There are Police agency’s using 9mm, 40S&W, 45ACP, and .357SIG. “Someone†thought all of those rounds would be the best for the application they have; that doesn’t mean they were right. Penetration? I want my handguns round expelling all of its energy in the body; not passing through it. Since I can’t fit 15 rounds of .45ACP or .357Mag in a duty size gun; my choice would be .40S&W. If I want barrier penetration I would pull my .308 AR out of the rifle rack in the squad and use it; that’s barrier penetration. If 5 gang bangin’ thugs open fire on you on the street with .380’s; you are going to die on the street full of .380 holes regardless of what caliber gun you are carrying. Superior firepower. You can talk all you want about shot placement but in many circumstances you would never get the chance or have the time to place an exact shot. Everything is application driven…. Nothing has changed. You are picking the gun and the round that someday may be called upon to save your life or the life of a family member. It is your responsibility to make the right decision; because the rest of us are only going to read about the aftermath.
  2. That just isn’t true. S&W owns the revolver market and has for decades; they are the best there is. I’ve been shooting and carrying S&W (and other) revolvers for 40 years. The K-frames have been handling a steady diet of full house 357 mags for years. You just need to shoot 158 instead of the 125 or less grain. There is 30 years of information out there as to why, but if you see someone posting the frames couldn’t handle the stresses; they are clueless. The beefed up L-frames came out, not because the frames couldn’t handle it, but as a marketing tool against the Python and Ruger’s for those that wanted something heavier, but not as big as the N-frame. Ruger’s are great guns. Back in day when the cops were carrying revolvers they were cheaper to buy. Today they cost almost as much as a Smith & Wesson. Colt Pythons are great guns if you can find one at a reasonable price. I had three of them years ago that I tried to shoot in competition, but just couldn’t shoot them as accurately as my S&W’s (It was me not the guns). Wish I had them today. $$ S&W, Ruger, and Colt revolvers; buy them right and they will appreciate more than many 401K's, plus you get to play with them. You just have to be educated about what you are buying. Just my opinions.
  3. I don’t think manufacturers will have anything to do with it; the ones making them now don’t want to see the restrictions removed. I think they are looking at dropping suppressors because they can see a showdown coming with those states that have passed “Firearm Freedom†acts. They know they can’t win “ATF vs. State Rightsâ€. But right now would be a great time to have that showdown. I don’t really need a suppressor, so the ridiculous costs keep me from playing with them. If the federal requirements are ever removed; the prices will drop like a rock to where they should be. You already have the right to make them. The Tennessee legislature passed legislation that specifically allows you to do that. Of course the ATF has told the state of Tennessee and other states to go pound sand, and they will put you in prison if you try it.

    Name that gun!

It may not necessarily be a fake; it just says “Non-descriptâ€. It has a name on the side of it if anyone can make it out… looks like “Something†Engineering.
  6. Goes to show you though; you don’t want to drink and carry. He didn’t touch the gun and the press is screaming about a BAC test. If I was at the press conference I might have ask something like “How did a gun in a holster pointed downward shoot someone in the chest?†At any rate, it was an unsecured weapon; that policy will change. Most cops (that I knew) didn’t carry unsecured.
  7. I didn’t know Montel Williams was the Detroit Police Chief.
  8. http://www.freep.com...dyssey=nav|head This story says she’s was hugging on a guy she didn’t know, while he was dancing with his wife. Something ain’t right.

    Name that gun!

Why that’s a Non-Descript Pocket Pistol in the hands of Vito Spatafore as he prepares to shoot Jackie Jr.
  10. Since you found something that will work this may not matter, but don’t use that 80 grit media on gun parts. Use superfine glass bead (300 range), or baking soda may work fine if it will work in those blasters, I never tried it.
  11. That’s what I was thinking. But apparently this app has the ability to automatically send the recording to the ACLU. I don’t want my app to have that ability.
  12. All across our country local Police Departments are changing how they handle active shooters. Securing the scene and waiting for special teams doesn’t work; the death toll is taken in the first few minutes. So Officers are putting their lives at a higher risk engaging shooters with small teams of the first arriving Officers. That’s okay because that’s what they signed up for. But now, the DHS is telling their Officers to run away? Who makes these policies, some federal bureaucrat that has never seen action on the streets? You engage an active shooter with extreme prejudice…. Period.
  13. I’ve never kept a bottle of whiskey long enough to find out, but why would any evaporate unless the seal is broken?
  14. Wideners and AIM are both around $320 plus shipping. It's a cheap gun to buy, but not a cheap round to shoot.

    How often...

I would guess the people that don’t maintain a firearm, do the same with their cars and mowers. Run em' to failure.
  16. You are exactly right. But you can’t blame Obama or the government for that; that’s on us. (What’s coming with healthcare you can blame on him; but not losing our manufacturing base and good jobs.)
  17. From your prices I would assume you are looking at 3-9X40. My vote would go to the Leupold VX-1; it’s with a few dollars of the others.
  18. Let us know how you like it. I decided to buy the 40 flavor sight unseen and can’t find one anywhere. Buds sent me an email Thursday that they had them, but apparently it was a mistake.
  19. It takes 7.62X38R and is a gas seal revolver. You can use modern ammo with modifications but if you check YouTube you will see that what you have when you are done really isn’t worth the investment. But Aim Surplus sells 7.62X38R ammo for them.
  20. Detroit is a wasteland because Americans buy foreign made cars. I would like to blame that totally on the Dems, but I can’t make that leap. Anywhere you don’t have jobs the people are going to vote for Democrats.
  21. My Doctors aid that asks the questions, ask me if I drank alcohol or was allergic to latex. I was wondering if she was going to ask me out on a date.

I use to build punches and dies for stamping and multi-slide presses. If you do maintenance; keep them sharp, clean and lubed, they will run many times longer than those that are set-up and run to failure. Firearms are mechanical devices and the same applies. Sure you can run them dirty. You can run ammo that is dirty and not designed for the firearm you are using it in. You can run them to failure. But it’s cheaper and makes the gun more accurate if you don’t. If you are damaging a weapon cleaning it, you need to do some research or ask for help.
  23. Great gun, buts it’s bigger, heavier and thicker than some of the compacts. You could call it a compact, pushing the full size duty envelope (M11), but not a subcompact.
  24. I don’t think you can beat Wal-Mart’s price on quality Federal Brass by much.
  25. We live in an age of scams. I won’t give money to anyone that calls me; even if they are causes I support. If I want to give money to something I go to a reputable site or mail it in. And I won’t answer calls that show up as UNKNOWN. There is a reason they are blocking their ID.
