I don’t think the defense will make the mistake of opening the door by attacking the character of the victim. If they do the Prosecution will destroy Zimmerman with past bad acts. And they aren’t kid’s comments or drug references; they are acts of violence. Evidence? An innocent citizen was walking down the street committing no crime and bothering no one. He saw Zimmerman come after him and he fled; there was an altercation and he was shot to death. None of that is in dispute. Zimmerman had no business getting out of his truck and chasing him. His reckless conduct caused the death of Martin. That’s my opinion and my opinion only on an internet forum. I am not saying that he shouldn’t get a fair trial, or that he shouldn’t be out on bond. I am arm chair quarterbacking with the information I have just like those that are saying he was justified are doing. The difference is that I don’t care if Martin was kicking Zimmerman azz. Zimmerman’s acts caused that; he put himself in that situation and martin didn’t deserve to die. “Stand your ground†also applies to Martin. He had a right to be where he was and he had a right to defend himself, he was committing no crime when he was chased by a nutcase with a gun (we don’t know whether he saw it or not). Had he beat Zimmerman to death not a jury in the land would convict him; because he was defending himself. Unfortunately all he had were his hands and the bad guy in this scenario had a gun. This would be like if you willfully engaged in a road rage incident, you both pull over and you get into a mutual fight situation. The other guy gets a couple of good shots to your head; you decide you are in danger and pull out your gun and kill him; you are going to prison. Only with the Zimmerman case, Zimmerman was the only willing participant; Martin was chased down and was protecting himself. Do I think Zimmerman did this intentionally? Not really, I think he was ignorant and reckless.

Channel 5 Nashville Story To Air Thursday

I would say my .308 Panther qualifies as a high power, wouldn’t you? And I’m sure that most who saw it would call it an assault rifle. That’s what I would use for a Patrol rifle if I had a choice. -
Yes, many folks do not understand how it works. You are required to pay the tax period. If the retailer has a physical presence in your state; they are supposed to collect the tax. People don’t pay the tax and that is how the state loses revenue.

I live about 2 miles from RCSO; there is a range behind it? -
What do you think is going to happen? And why are the Police or the military going to be going around confiscating guns? If New Madrid shifts they say it could me so violent that Memphis will be destroyed and the Mississippi will run backwards. Do you think some government agency is going to use that as a cover for gun confiscation? The New Madrid scenario would be so devastating that it would take all the resources of this country to help the people escape. Who do you think is going to be confiscating guns? I watched a video of two black female New Orleans Police Officers looting a store. Can I start make general statements about Blacks, Women, or Cops? The Mayor of NO and the Chief of Police made a mistake in Okaying gun confiscation; they admit that. Now several states (including ours) have addressed the gun issue directly. They also addressed the issue of gas station owners charging $10 a gallon for gas. Do I think people in a disaster like Katrina on the scale of New Madrid will be trying to take your guns? You bet your azz I do, but don’t expect them to be in uniform; those folks will be too busy. Oh and if we are going to have an intelligent discussion; you can’t post videos from Info wars or Alex Jones; they can’t be taken seriously.

I don’t have the protections I had as a cop, so I’m not getting involved in any situation that doesn’t involve an individual needing my immediate help. But when someone is being killed; I’m steeping in. I would very quickly let the guy know if he didn’t stop I was going to kill him. If he makes a move towards her or me with the knife again; I shoot him. Bother me? Absolutely not, I could shoot him and go eat lunch. There is no “moral dilemma†for me. I would think the moral dilemma would be if you stood by and watched someone stabbed to death and did nothing.

Yes of course, Katrina is always the first thing brought up in any gun seizure question. Katrina was a small isolated incident. Let’s look at what happened after Katrina. Many states, Tennessee included, passed laws addressing gun control during an emergency. It was made clear to the Military and Civilian Law Enforcement that there isn’t going to be any confiscation of guns. It would be an unlawful order and most aren’t going to be involved in that. I know I shouldn’t waste my time watching an Alex Jones video, but I couldn’t help but click on it to see what you are talking about. Before anyone fast forwards to the video, watch the first part to understand that the “government document†this guy is ranting about is 50 years old. The video is just the same Katrina video we have seen time after time. As the caller said himself, he was ignorant, he didn’t know the law. Now the law has been made clear and if anyone tried this it would only take a few soldiers or cops to refuse the order to result is chaos in the ranks. Kill anyone who resists? Who was killed?

As stated above go to your local FFL and do a transfer. Your name will still be tied to it wherever that is the case now; you will just have proof of transfer if for some reason it is traced back to you.

Zimmerman is now apparently a child molester.

I said earlier that I believed in innocent until proven guilty. However, that doesn’t mean that I think it actually happens. I’m sure that you, as have I, have put cuffs on people, towed their cars, locked them up in jail, and that’s where they stayed until they went to trial because they couldn’t make bond. I’m sorry, but that’s not innocent until proven guilty. I believe the way it should be (and the way it will be someday) is that no one can be placed in jail unless they are taken before a judge and it is shown that you are a danger to someone. A person should be given a “Notice to Appear†on the street and let go, then if they don’t show up for court they are in another category and can be detained. Jail is a dangerous place and innocent people are hurt all the time; I know I’ve seen it many times. A person has no business being there unless they have been convicted or unless they are a real threat to someone. Someone could make a very big name for themselves by hurting or killing Zimmerman in jail. -
A treaty can’t trump the 2nd amendment. Neither the government nor the U.N. can makes us give up our arms, and no one would be able to enforce it if they tried. What it could do though is stop the importing or exporting of firearms. No more Glocks or XD’s coming into the country and no more Smith & Wesson’s and Rugers going out.

I’ve been accused of being a lot of things; but a liberal is not one of them. I’m a conservative and I believe Zimmerman (based solely on what I have is read) is guilty of manslaughter, but not 2nd degree murder. By acting in a reckless manner he contributed to a situation that caused him to put himself in harms way; he then went directly to deadly force to stop the situation. A jury should decide if that sounds reasonable. I believe in “Innocent until proven guiltyâ€, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have an opinion. We are having a discussion and sharing opinions; is there something wrong with that? I see it done here all the time. What will happen if he is convicted? It won’t impact me in any way. I’m not going to instigate a situation that could likely have me depending on the use of a gun to protect myself. I believe Zimmerman should be out on bail, he represents no risk, I believe the Judge is bias and should step aside, I believe he is charged with the wrong crime, but I also believe due to his reckless actions an innocent kid walking down the street is dead; and for that he should pay. What we do here and what we say here has no impact; its just discussion. -

You have a bunch of people already stoking the fire for a riot. It won’t be limited to Florida, and I doubt it will depend on the verdict. -

I think I looked at this pretty calmly and without emotion and have not come to the same conclusion as most on this forum. We can only make decisions based on what we read; the jury will hear everything (and I would bet we will also). -

I don’t know, most of this BS will have no impact other than getting the Judge changed. That’s a risky move, you never how that will end; I assume GZ made that call. If he has 6 jurors I think there may be a chance for a verdict. But with 12 jurors I would bet it ends in a hung jury. There doesn’t seem to be many people on the fence on this case. -
Well, I would think due to the high level of emotion and drama from people that walk into a Police station, I would think it would be posted. On the other hand, you wouldn’t think the NRA would have a meeting in a carry state where you couldn’t carry. I’m sure someone will be along shortly that will know.

Fox News: Ron Paul Qualifies For Nomination

And for us older people also, Obama’s following is solid and united. It will take every vote for Romney to beat Obama. Please think about what you are doing before voting for someone that has no chance of winning. -
MattCary, I apologize if that sounded a little too harsh; it wasn’t directed specifically at anyone here. But this BS is from what Hillary started and now she has the country up in arms trying to justify her non-sense remarks about guns going into Mexico. I hate to see gun owner’s line up yelling for action that will only result in the appearance that she knew what she was talking about, and give her credibility when she calls for gun control.
-
Thanks I’ll have to keep an eye on Academy. They have them on their website for $399 (in-store), but I called the one in Franklin but they didn’t seem like they even knew what I was talking about. If I run into one for $399 it’s going home with me.

I have no lack of concern for Agent Terry’s death, but to believe his death was a result of this action you would have to believe that if it was not for this action the thug that killed him would have been unarmed. Did forensic ballistics ever link the bullet taken from Agent Terry to one of the guns in this operation? Does this give the President of Mexico the right to come here and give us a speech about gun control? Does it not matter that he does nothing about drug or illegal immigrant control?
-
Wow, I don’t call 6 months in jail a “Slap on the wristâ€. I would say he got royally screwed for a simple possession charge.
-
I don’t care how many guns go into Mexico. I don’t care how many agents watch them go, lose track of them, or help carry them across the border. I don’t care what laws the government decides to pass or what penalties they decided to hand out to those involved in transporting guns to another country. As long as they recognize any U.S. citizen’s right to a fair trial; I don’t care if they send them to prison for life. But none of that has anything to do with a U.S. citizen buying a gun here. My right to own a firearm and States’ Rights will prevail. The Mexican government makes no attempt to stop drugs and illegals from crossing our border. But they have the audacity you whine about a few guns. Which will without doubt turn into “Send us some money!†Maybe if some guns can get into the hands of good Mexican citizens they can start defending themselves from the cartels and the corrupt government. The only ones keeping this BS issue alive is gun owners that want to see something happen to some government officials. You will not like the outcome of the attention you are causing.
