Judge allows paralyzed dad to sue Glock
DaveTN replied to East_TN_Patriot's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I’m sure he’s planning on a jury never hearing the case; Glock will settle. Next up…. Glock offers external safeties. -
Aurora Shooter and Mental Health Issues
DaveTN replied to midtennchip's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
So what if he had “issues†there isn’t anything that can be done about it. -
Obviously Bill doesn’t know the law. He doesn’t know much about guns either if he is worried that an AK is a “Heavy Weaponâ€. 60,000 round of ammo? Who had 60,000 rounds of ammo? I thought the Denver shooter fired about 200 rounds, and obviously that was enough to do the job. That’s 4 boxes of ammo at Wal-Mart Bill.
-
Is that true? They are manufacturing AK’s in North Carolina? I don’t get it. I understood why people were buying AK’s when they were 3or 4 hundred bucks, but why would anyone pay $800 for an AK?
-
I know that many of us here have collections that would make his “stockpile†of guns and ammunition he has “amassed†look pretty pathetic. What do these people want “the government†to do once we are “traced The guy had three guns and cranked off a couple of hundred rounds. If someone decides they want to kill a lot of people; the only way they are going to be stopped is if the proper authorities get intel about it.

The SCOTUS has ruled that we have a right to own guns. When, where, and how you carry is controlled by the state. I don’t see the SCOTUS revisiting that anytime soon. I’m still trying to think of a scenario where troops or cops would be going door to door taking guns? Don’t give the worn out response of “Katrina†because that was an isolated incident and has been addressed by both Federal and State law. The only thing I can come up with would be under Federal Martial Law, but I’m not sure how that could happen and the military have nothing to do but mess with taking peoples guns. I do expect so see a fight over high capacity magazines.

Executive order, Internet Off Switch!!
DaveTN replied to partypilot1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Business is done on the internet. To shut down business would require something equal to Federal Martial Law. Between Martial Law and the Nation Defense Authorization Act (among others) he already has the authority, not sure when he would need any more legislation. The question would be does the government have the ability. -
For you conspiracy theorists, what group specifically do you think would conspire to kill 70 people, including small children, to help with the gun control effort?

I have come to the conclusion that guns in the South are way overpriced.

What part of Tennessee? I’m not big on camping out, but I have to say I have never had the opportunity to camp out on a gun range. Interesting possibilities. -
Bought another gun. I don’t have food stored up, extra water, or a generator. But I have plenty of guns and ammunition. I think I’ll be okay.

Good for you, congratulations. As someone that works in Aerospace Quality, I would think Plant Manager would be less stressful.

Feet? They all said they were in their apartments, couldn’t hear anything other than the shot and someone yelling for help, wasn’t sure who was who. How many feet?

Fox Admits Romney Cannot Win With Out Ron Paul Supporters
DaveTN replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Well, if it’s Ron Paul or nothing; welcome to four more years of Obama. But I believe a large number of the Ron Paul supporters are Patriots; and Patriots won’t turn their back on their country by throwing their vote away. Even with the Ron Paul supporters this will be a bitter battle. -
Free food, booze, and health care. Couple that with allowing citizenship to illegals and how big of a voting group do you think that is?

Good points about the smoke and sensory overload. And I don’t want anyone to get the wrong idea, I am not trying to blame anyone other than the shooter. This is an opportunity for us all to learn and think about these scenarios. I guess we will get a better idea of what it was like in there as the survivors start telling their stories.

Mass murders know that they are never going to walk free again. I think most believe they will die in the attack or at the hands of the Police after the attack. Those that are prepared to go to prison know that because of the enormous expense of a capitol trial they can simply plead out and dodge the death penalty, that is the route Adkisson took; mission accomplished. Some want the death penalty.

Have you watched info wars or Alex Jones? Does he appear to you to be a person that is credible or you can believe?

It really surprised me when so many people on a gun forum said they would stand back and not act while a woman was being stabbed to death; I would have never guessed that would be the case here. But when I heard of the shooting at the theater I was shocked when someone said it was 70 people. My first thought was how did he shoot 70 people in a theater before someone jumped him; did he have a fully automatic weapon? No, it’s just that no one acted. As a cop during training we would learn from looking at incidents where cops got shot. I remember one of our instructors saying that it’s not popular to publicly criticize a dead Officers actions; but he probably died because he made a mistake. He went on to say "We are going to learn from thier mistakes". I agree with the author here; no one wants to criticize the victims here; but we need to learn from this. Act or die. Here is an interesting story, and accompany video asking some of the hard questions. Its worth watching. DaveTN replied to a topic in General Chat
All gun dealers don’t pay the same price. They are at the mercy of distributors. I’m waiting for one of the big boys (S&W, Ruger, Remington) to cut out the middleman and sell direct to dealers. We have to have dealers to be able to buy guns; Distributors are just overhead. New gun prices in Illinois are less than they are here. -
Shooting at Denver theater during new Batman movie.
DaveTN replied to K191145's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Ever is a long time. We may someday have technology that would make guns obsolete. Ban us from having guns? Not in my lifetime. The Supreme Court of the United States has ruled that you have the right to own a gun. It would require them to revisit that to change it; I don’t see that happening anytime soon. You could see something like an assault weapons ban, or a high capacity magazine ban. Obama wants to ban all semi-auto’s; I don’t think could happen, but I think he will try in his second term. Without an actually ruling on it the SCOTUS acknowledged that while you have a right to keep arms, it is a state right to decide when and where you will bear them. Many states are allowing more freedom to carry. As our economy continues to fail, the violent crime rate will continue to rise; many legislators recognize that and are acting accordingly. But just so you know, we have way bigger problems than gun control. Your guns won’t be taken from you because if things continue the way they are going; you are going to need them and the government will want you to have them. -

I have been into guns for over 40 years and they have been talking about gun bans the whole time. I still have all the guns I can afford to buy and they are all legal. No one is going to take your gun; but stay vigilant.
