“Carrying†is not in the hands of the Feds; it’s in the hands of the state. The idea of a gathering in Tennessee has been kicked around before. If you had a good turnout it would be great to give our legislators a visual of the support; if you have a handful of people show up it would suck. If the press were to show up I doubt they would be looking for the articulate, average HCP holder. I think they would seek out and interview the most bizarre looking mall Ninja type that would ramble on about stuff they know very little about.

He can get an expungement, but if he has a felony drug arrest; he may find he can’t get his guns rights back in Tennessee. That could change though. This case is going through the Tennessee courts now. He has a full pardon from Georgia, but because he was convicted on drug charges; Tennessee won’t recognize his gun rights. http://blogs.knoxnew...for-tn-gun.html

I have these in both 1†and 30mm. I’ve never seen a better deal in a one piece solid mount. These are heavy duty. I got both of mine at the gun show at Nashville Fairgrounds. http://jtdistributin...more_ar760.html

They are required by law to be logged in. So no, they don’t have to wait on you, some people wait several days to pick up a gun; the dealer can’t have it that long without it being logged in. Buying a gun with the intention of flipping it for a profit is a crime, so he probably didn’t think about you being concerned about that. The only way he could have known the price is if the seller told him.

Seems like it’s always math or physics getting in the way. -
Well…. We weren’t there and you weren’t there. We have no idea what happened; but the cops do. As a cop would I have told someone that got slapped around it would be best not to push making a complaint? Yes, I have told groups that if I start arresting people everyone is going. Drugs, girlfriends and little brothers were involved…. Be glad you weren’t there with a gun.

To what end? I’m not trying to be a smart azz, but what possible reason could our government have to turn on its citizens? If Martial Law goes into effect the Constitution is put on hold. You don’t have rights or freedoms. “Tool to chip away at our economy or freedomsâ€?? Using martial Law on a large scale wouldn’t be “chipping awayâ€; it would be destroying them with a sledge hammer. Other than a natural disaster (think San Andreas Fault sending the West coast into the Pacific, or New Madrid devastating the central U.S.) or economic collapse; what would be the reason?

Smith & Wesson M&P 15. They cover a pretty wide range of options and prices.

And they would die. Keep in mind this isn’t the middle east where we have antiquated weapons and AK’s/Mosins/ that are short range weapons. We have the highest quality long range target and hunting rifles with optics that will dispatch kill shots at hundreds of yards. In a residential environment a hit and run sniper with a .308 and two boxes of ammo could take out a lot of people. You would be left with small rogue bands that could cause some damage, but would be quickly taken out. A unit couldn’t maintain cohesiveness while that was going on; even if they were willing to kill Americans. It’s just a tin foil hat scenario put out there by media nutcases that are making money off it. They want you to believe your government is going to declare war on its citizens. Ain’t going to happen and wouldn’t work if they tried. A very real threat would be the bands of roving looters in a large scale natural disaster or the collapse of our economy. That’s what happened during Katrina. The cops went home to help their families and neighbors. .

I’ll play. Anyone that is going to launch a nuke against us is committing suicide. Therefore they are not going to detonate an air burst 250 miles above us to get the maximum effect of an EMP. They will do a low altitude burst over a major city for maximum devastation. While many nations may want to see us all dead, no nation on earth would try to occupy our country. Who will build this nuke without anyone knowing? Who will put this nuke on a “Tramp Steamer†without anyone knowing? Too many people would need to be involved without anyone saying a word to pull this off. We have the ability to detect a missile launch anywhere in the world. Do they think we don’t have the ability to detect and shoot down a scud?

Matter of fact, since this is about survival and preparedness; let’s be real about emergency radio and wanting to get your ham license. You can start in the CB (HF 11 meters) bands and have a nice legal station, many hams started this way. Many people look simply at the cost of the radio, but to have a base station set-up you are going to have almost, if not more money in a tower set-up and antennas. This allows you to get set-up with a station that will allow you to communicate with a large number of people, both locally and long distance. You can communicate between your home and your own vehicles locally. Due to cell phones this isn’t as popular as it once was, but would allow communications should cell service be disrupted or power was lost. As you build your station you can get your ham license and expand your capabilities. But I would bet most ham operators still maintain the ability to communicate on the CB bands. When Nashville was flooded I was returning from Illinois and knew nothing about it. My mother called me and asked if my wife in Murfreesboro was okay. I didn’t know what was going on and asked “Why wouldn’t she be?†This was the first I heard about it. She said she was watching the flood on TV and thought she better call. As I got closer I was switching around the news stations and could not get definitive information about getting through Nashville. The Mayor was on the radio saying that all Interstates were passable except for some areas on I-40. I found out later that wasn’t true. The city in was in chaos and bad information was being given out. They kept talking about “parts†of I-40 being impassable but gave no spefic areas. I had a CB radio and mag mount antenna in my trunk. I pulled over and sat it up. The truckers were giving good info on what was passable. They gave me info that took me down to Franklin and over across 840 to Murfreesboro. When I got I saw the news video of parts of I-40 and I-24 that were under water. I would have been in those long lines of backed up traffic it wasn’t for the CB. I’m not suggesting that anyone not their HAM license; but don’t overlook CB to get you started.

If I wanted to buy a ham radio for emergency use I would look at 10 meters. The largest group by far in an emergency is going to be the CB band (11 meters). 10 meter radios can legally monitor the 11 meter band if they aren’t transmitting.

Some of the Ted Williams levers were made for Sears by Winchester. I would first make sure it isn’t a pre-64. If it’s not, sell it and buy a beater for your truck. I wouldn’t turn it into a beater.

Control? With approximately 50% of the households in America having guns, how do you define control? Our combined Armed Forces is approximately 1.5 million. Assuming they would all participate in some type of Martial Law (they won’t); they don’t have manpower to control this county. They would barely have the manpower to protect their own bases and weapons. Martial law because of some large scale disaster, the people would comply and help fix the problem. Martial law to control citizens because of an economic or political collapse; not happening…. Can’t.

I suspect that Obama will try something like this if reelected. I think he will try to outlaw semi-auto weapons (especially AR and AK types) with no grandfather clause. I don’t think he could get the votes, but it may come down to what he’s willing to trade off. Before making any judgments about statistics quoted concerning Australia crime you might want to read what Snoops had to say about it. http://www.snopes.co...ics/ausguns.asp

Yes, the documented training date has to be in the last five years.

There is a huge difference between Romney and Obama; if elected, Obama can’t run again. The gloves are off and he can do whatever he thinks he can get away with. At least with Romney we have a chance to better prepare. Explain to me how a winner from a group other than the two parties would change anything or why it would matter? An independent could get elected, so why do some of you think we have a two party system? The American people elected Obama. The poor and underemployed that want the government to run their lives, and want every dime they can get from the government aren’t going to vote for Ron Paul or Gary Johnson. That group appears to be about half the people in this country, how does splitting the other half help us? Conservative working class Americans would have to be united to elect a President. -
Tucson executive loses job after confronting Chick-fil-A worker

It’s a shame if that girl can’t take legal action against him for putting that video on the net. His apology video is pathetic. I support Vante in firing him, you are held to a higher standard as a company executive. Unfortunately I suspect he will sue them. -
Homeless man found with "huge" cache of guns...
DaveTN replied to MattCary's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The stories talk about a “Sawed off shotgun†but there isn’t one in the pictures (that I see). I wonder what the “felony†charges are? Note to self…. Don’t have a list of names when hauling a bunch of weapons in the car. Myself and another member here went to the range one day. My Suburban was loaded to the max with rifles and handguns. I guess if someone would have seen it we would be making a trip to the mental hospital. -
Model 15 were nice weapons. A lot of PD’s, military units, and security companies used them instead of 19’s because they didn’t want Officers carrying .357mag. They were the issued weapon when I was in the Air National Guard. They make solid competition guns. http://www.tn.gov/sa...unfaqs.shtml#q8

I don’t think it would be a problem with Paramedics or Firemen carrying as long as it was done openly. I would hate to put an injured prisoner in the back of an ambulance with someone that is armed and not know it. Of course I don’t think any FD or Ambulance service is going to go for it. My father-in-law is a retired Firefighter. He used to always tell me “We don’t need any of you cops showing up; we have fire hoses and axesâ€.

I can only speak for myself, but for me it would take an event that would contradict everything I have seen and experienced firsthand. Aren’t we all that way on all issues? True, I hope you never experience an event or a sequence of events that are the cause of you changing your mind. Unless of course that event is something positive like you becoming involved in law enforcement, or working in the field of drug rehab. You are spending the time to type out thoughtful responses, why would you waste your time doing that about any discussion if you don’t think anyone is getting anything from the discussion?
