  1. If we are going to look at others states carry laws first look at Vermont. Only four states recognize the Right to bear arms; Tennessee needs to become the fifth.
  2. I use the Wheeler FAT wrench also. It works great; I keep it in my shooting bag.
  3. The Officer was responding to a call from a Citizen. That is the way it should always happen. The Officer did an excellent job. I’m actually surprised the two goof balls posted the video.
  4. The threat of violence is not now nor has it ever been protected speech or a First Amendment issue. I just tried to do a search for the full transcripts that led to this guy being hauled off, but didn’t find them. The Chesterfield Police say they were simply transporting Raub for the FBI, the FBI says they dind’t arrest him they were assisting the Secret Service; the Secret Service says they didn’t arrest him. As a citizen I expect some answers from the United States Department of Justice. From the statements made by the intake interviewer at the hospital “friends†of Raub had called (the Police?) and said they thought he was dangerous and had made threats against President Bush. I suspected that when I saw the story because the Secret Service doesn’t show up at your house on general nut case threats against the public. The Secret Service or any other LE agency has every right in the world to walk up and knock on the door and talk to him; no violation of rights there. If it’s an investigation and not an interrogation; the reading of Miranda rights is not required. It appears that Raub agreed to talk with them. However, if a decision had already been made to arrest Raub; Miranda is required if they are going to use any statements he makes against him. This isn’t rocket science or doesn’t require any high level investigator to view the footage of Raub being handcuffed and start there. Ask him who told him to take Raub into custody and work from there. The three agencies involved are all denying they took Raub into custody. Are we to believe a Chesterfield PD Officer threw cuffs on him and transported him to the nut house without the FBI or Secret Service telling him to do so? As you heard the attorney say, they are going to sue. As a taxpayer I don’t want to pay for this unless mistakes were truly made. If mistakes were made the United States Department of Justice needs to get off their azz and do their job. They need to make the responsible agency make a public apology and deal with the consequences. If mistakes were not made, and there were creditable threats; I expect to see Raub charged criminally and stand trial.

    M&P 15-22?

Threaded barrel if you want to add a suppressor. I’ve only put a couple hundred rounds through mine, but no problems.
  6. Sure there are States Rights. States Rights are why you can buy the privilege of having an HCP when the right to carry is not given to the average citizen (as it is in some other states). If it was up to the Feds you wouldn’t be able to carry a gun. Why don’t the Feds make a law that service men can drink at any age? Because unless all the states agreed; they couldn’t enforce it.
  7. I’m not giving opinions here; I’m stating facts that aren’t in dispute; although this argument has been going on for 20 years. Why would you want to post a personal attack like that?
  8. I never mentioned Randy Weaver. He wasn’t there when the shooting started. No FBI agents were killed. U.S. Marshal Bill Degan was murdered by Kevin Harris, Degan never fired his weapon. Horiuchi's shot Weaver and his second shot was at Harris; that shot hit Harris and killed Vicki Weaver. That was the 2nd day. They had plenty of opportunity to surrender. Harris and Weaver got Vickie Weaver killed.
  9. Wow. I have a Butterfly knife, never knew it was considered a gravity knife by the law here.
  10. I’ve dealt with more 30 and 40 year olds that couldn’t handle their liquor than 18 year olds. Being drunk isn’t safe at any age.
  11. I have the M&P in Full size, Compact, and Shield (all in .40S&W). The full size is fine for carry if printing is not an issue for you. They are top of line and doing very well as duty guns in Law Enforcement. As far as the rifle issue, if you think .223 costs too much, get a .22 for trigger time. In AR type rifles I have an M&P15T and a 308 Panther, but I still have an M&P15-22 for cheap trigger time. Shooting to me is more important than having a gun that just sits. I wouldn’t run steel case ammo in any quality weapon. But if that’s what you need to do I would go with an SKS or AK. I wouldn’t run it in your Colt AR or any quality handgun.
  12. It’s a better round than a .223 for hunting and some people think they are okay for hunting. I think the bigger question would be can you hit the target with an SKS? If you can hit a target at the distance you will be hunting, I don’t think you will have any problems. Now whether or not the other hunters are going to make fun of you or not, is a whole other story and really has nothing to do with ballistics.
  13. I went in the military during Vietnam at 17. I couldn’t legally drink. When I went home on leave I couldn’t get served unless I wore my uniform. When I wore my uniform not only would I get served, but I didn’t have to buy a drink. Is it right? No, active duty military should be exempt. But most state legislators do not see it that way. So, you can’t make a blanket statement that the cops should ignore it. Most Officers have discretion on any misdemeanor, but it is possible that they don’t have on liquor violations involving minors. I got a call on an “attempt to purchase liquor by a minor†at a local liquor store. It was a guy that had done two years in the Army and was 20 years old. The liquor store was one that insisted every attempt be arrested and prosecuted, so I cuffed him up and took him into custody. I drove a block away, got him out, took the cuffs off, put him in the front seat and gave him a ride home. I didn’t violate the law, but I violated our departmental policy on liquor and minors. If someone found out I would have been reprimanded; but I thought it was worth the risk. Those who serve are a very special group; thank you.
  14. What an idiot. We don’t have to have a civil war to get rid of Obama. We will have a vote on November 6th. If he is reelected it’s because that’s what the people want. The other thing the people want is higher taxes. Every time a manufacturing plant closes or moves away from our borders the tax payers will get the bill for the tax money that the company and its employees was paying.
  15. I don’t feel bad for the victims, I feel bad for us. Especially those that face these guys the next time they decide to shoot someone in a robbery that may not be dirt bags. I don’t see how the Judges that did this can live with it. Well I do; it’s just a game to them.
  16. That’s unbelievable. Because the guy said in open court the pain was “not that badâ€; they may get a reduced sentence. Their attorneys hit a home run and we get to pay the bill.
  17. In the 80’s we couldn’t do anything for people with mental problems. Our States Attorney would not touch it even when a family member called in that someone was going to commit suicide. We would try to talk the mentally ill into committing themselves and it sometimes worked with the threat of criminal charges if they didn’t. But if we couldn’t talk them in and they had committed no crime; our hands were tied. We would stand by until other family members could get there to help, or some had attorneys that could get a Judge to sign commitment papers. It resulted in a lot of people hurt and killed. I was detailed to a call of a mental case threating people and acting crazy downtown. I ask if there was a complainant and was told “Not that wants to be seenâ€. I get there and talk to this guy and he obviously had mental problems and is wound tight as a drum. If I leave him there he is going to hurt someone. He tells me that was committed a long time ago to our regional mental institution and that they “Kicked him out†He told me he wanted to go back because he was afraid he was going to hurt someone. I had our dispatcher’s call the nut house and they told the dispatchers his state funding had run out and they had to put him out. We told them he wanted to come back because he was afraid he was going to hurt someone. They said they can’t take him back unless he hurts someone, is arrested, or a Judge signs commitment papers. Going to a Judge had to go through the SA Office, so that wasn’t going to work. I wasn’t about to tell him I couldn’t do anything unless he hurt someone, so I told him I couldn’t do anything unless he committed a crime. He said “What kind of crime?†I told him “Any crimeâ€. He walked over and picked up a concrete block and walked towards my squad. I could see where this was going and just let it happen. Yep, he threw that block at the windshield and turned around and said “Will that do it?†As we started to bring him in to book one of our Command Officers told us to get booking info from him and take him straight to the nut house. The guy knew he was a danger, I knew he was a danger, but his so called “Rights†kept him from getting help. He was convicted of a felony, so if he ever did get straight, he had that to deal with. Things have changed since then; a person that is a threat to society or is threatening to kill themselves can now be committed for observation without having to commit a criminal act. Posting violent threats on the internet is going to land you in jail or the nuthouse; free speech has nothing to do with it. As citizens when someone threatens us with a gun we don’t have to wait to see if it’s real, if it’s loaded, or if the perp is going to shoot; we have the right to protect ourselves. Law Enforcement has the duty to protect the people from harm even if they don’t know they are being threatened; it sounds like that is what happened here. We may never hear what really happened. The Secret Service isn’t real big on making public statements unless directed to do so by the highest powers. 5-1-5-0 somebody call the PoPo.
  18. So who is a victim of the government? Are you talking about him or you? Yes, people are arrested every day for mere words; it’s called assault. When you threaten people with violence, either expressed or implied, it is wrong. The fact that charges were dropped or you don’t think a person could be convicted in court doesn’t make it right.
  19. Who ran that worth a crap? Unfortunately people don’t want the job anymore.
  20. We may not have the government we want, but we have the government the American people want. We have an opportunity to change the government with every election. I’m sure most of us here vote and I doubt that many of us voted for Obama. The Republican Party let us down this time, they had a shot at taking out Obama and apparently they thought Romney was the best they had to offer. We have a two party system; like it or not. Sure, a third party could be elected, but no one has been able to do it yet, no one has really even come close. If I wanted to see Obama reelected I would be trying to convince everyone I know to vote for Paul, Johnson, or whoever the latest person is that couldn’t make the cut. I don’t want to see Obama reelected, but I think unless things change a lot before the election (77 days from now) he will be. Look as us here; we are as divided as can be. Our government will never be overthrown by violence from within. There are too many Americans that have vowed that will not happen. Who are these nut cases that want to start a revolution going to go attack, our military, a bunch of cops? Of course they aren’t, the chickenchits will bomb a building with a bunch of innocent citizens and children in it, shoot a bunch of people including little children in a mall parking lot, or shoot a bunch of people in a movie theater even shooting an infant at point blank range. Why? Because there is something mentally wrong with them. I congratulate whoever saw the warning signs here and put this guy in the nut house. Maybe he can get some help, or if not, maybe he can be charged criminally for his violent rants. Do I have to worry about this happening to me? Of course not, neither do most of you. Crazy people always scream about their rights when they are arrested and you can always count on some poor misguided soul spewing out some Thomas Jefferson quotes taken out of context.
  21. He said he wanted someone to come pick him up. That is what happened.
  22. That’s what I thought when I read those posts. Proactive vs. reactive. Maybe he was stupid enough to fire off some emails.... who knows.
  23. Not threats it doesn’t. The Mother said the Secret Service was there. That makes me think he made threats against someone protected by the Secret Service. However as I said, we can’t have an intelligent discussion without knowing what he said. No one links the Facebook page, was it taken down? The “Civil Liberties and Human Rights†page didn’t quote anything he said; that’s telling by itself.
  24. You have to post something pretty outrageous to get the FBI and cops to show up at your house. We would need to read what he posted to make any intelligent decisions about what they did.
  25. These are prohibited places for people with carry permits in that state. Bars are included. Also note that you have to get permission before carrying into a private residence. I’ve been there, but I didn’t take a gun because I planned on doing a lot of drinking. http://www.lsp.org/h...html#prohibited
