  1. Good find. In the digital age, I try to download all manuals from the manufacturers web site. With the PDF printer now standard in Windows 10 I also print all the information from the manufacturers web site, and the web site I purchased from, so that I will have it years later. I wish the CMP would offer all the disassembly/assembly/detail info in a PDF instead of individual web pages.

    Remington R51

If it was made in 2014 it’s the one that was pulled out of production for being a POS. If yours was made in 2016 or later; it may be okay. They were completely reengineered and brought back to market in 2016. I wouldn’t be afraid to buy one of those guns; they have had good reviews. But of course, once you’ve failed to the point of having to remove a gun from the market and reengineer it; you will have plenty judging you on the past. The reviews are mostly good, but it appears they have a break-in period. I’m never okay with that, but these have an MSRP of $448 and sell for $240-$260 at GAG or Buds, so it is what it is. They are in the “Cheap American Made” category. Supposedly they will be offering this in 40S&W, I might buy one of those for my collection of “Range Toys”. But….keep in mind, only 3000 of those bad R51’s were shipped, and Remington offered a refund to owners that wanted it. So if you have a bad one that is in “mint” condition; it could be a collectable many years from now.
  3. And therein lies the problem. You are judging us on facts that you don’t understand. “simply for seeing him attack others” was no where close to what happened; so, I assume you aren’t familiar with what happened. I’m good with any investigator coming back and reading my comments. Those actions would clearly be within what is allowed by law, the way I was trained at the Police Academy, and probably the way they are being trained all over the country. When you go though training, and I hope you will if you are going to judge others, you will find that if you are carrying a gun, there may someday be a need to use it. There may be little time to act, and you damn well better know if you are justified or not. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying you shouldn’t have judged those of us that made statements. That’s what we do here after shootings, deadly force incidents, or “what if” scenarios. Armed with hindsight being 20/20 we arm chair quarterback, and judge all that has happened. It is a learning experience. However, we make an attempt to stick to the facts. Sometimes that’s difficult with the media not always wanting to be accurate with the facts. But we do the best we can. So your “simply for seeing him attack others” is not accurate and more like something the liberal left would print. A more accurate statement by you would have been “simply for seeing him brutally stabbing several women to death”. That would be factual, but of course would make the rest of your assumption look silly.
  4. That's an interesting loading idea.
  5. Not anymore. After his plea bargain his new address will be Stateville Correctional Center in Illinois.
  6. Maybe this will work... Story... https://www.fox32chicago.com/news/armed-home-invader-shot-dead-another-arrested-in-arlington-heights-police Video...
  7. I bough a Remington 597 years ago on sale at Bass Pro. I sold it to my BIL because he wanted a .22. He didn’t shoot it, so I bought it back. It’s a tack driver. It had a cheap Bass Pro Red Head 3x9 scope on it and it would shoot dime size groups at 25 yards all day long. I never shot it any farther than that. I don’t know what they sell for in local gun stores now, but GAG has them for $184 or $219 with a scope. I’ve owned a lot of .22 rifles and this outshoots them all.
  8. I don’t think blacks took it any less serious than whitey. Besides ignoring it, there were plenty whining that it was a violation of their rights.
  9. Yes, I’ve had other things going on with guns to buy, etc. I have went with the 18650 as a battery on all new flashlights, so I’m always looking for quality flashlights at a low price.
  10. My guess is they don’t know who can and can’t get it. That boy was probably in contact with someone. But then, they told us pets can’t get it and it can’t be spread by pets other than the virus directly on their fur. But then a Tiger tested positive. That’s opens a whole bunch of questions I don’t hear anyone asking at these daily briefings.
  11. No, what we can realize is that poor people might be at greater risk. Now if you want to make an argument that more poor people are minorities, for whatever reason you decide to go with; okay. But the whole country is already getting reparations for Coronavirus. Is she saying minorities should get more reparations than the rest of us simply because there are more minorities that have the virus? Or that black families that are unaffected should get more money than white families that have had a member die from the virus? I hate racism. Black racism is just as bad as white racism.
  12. It’s a nutcase with a knife. You walk over with your weapon pointed at him and tell him to drop it. At that point it will probably be over. If its not, you shoot him. People will be getting out of the way as soon as they see your gun. As soon as you shoot him, depending on the circumstances you might want to have a plan of what you will say or do to keep from getting shot yourself.
  13. This has probably been asked and answered before, but I don’t see it, so I’ll ask it again. Wouldn’t an FFL transfer a lower as “Other” on form 4473, so it could be used as either a rifle or a pistol? Why would someone log this as a rifle? And if you had to choose, if it was logged as a pistol, couldn’t it be used as either?
  14. My bad. I wasn't paying attention, thanks.
  15. Exactly, and that was my point about Cuomo. if he moves all the testing into minority neighborhoods he will absolutely get the results he wants. This is ignorant.
  16. I put carry insurance in the same category as the weapon you choose to use, the ammunition you choose to use, etc. The question first and foremost for criminal charges will be “Was the use of deadly force justified?” if the answer is “Yes” none of those things matter. If you find yourself charged criminally the state is contending that the use of deadly force was not justified….period. You have screwed up. Could the DA charge you when you haven’t screwed up? Sure, but the bottom line is still justification. He still would need to have cause. Insurance, ammo, or the gun you used won’t be it. But back to the original topic… I answered quickly because I knew what was being reported about those murders. I don’t hunt because I can’t kill animals for sport, but I could kill a criminal and go eat lunch. This has been talked about many times here. You need to think through scenarios you might run into. Scenarios where justification might be clear cut, but the safety of others are at risk, or you don’t know where other bad actors are. Or maybe you find yourself with a gun stuck in your face. Look at all possibilities, go through them in your mind, it will help you. Am I justified in what I am about to do? That was all I remember about my thoughts in the first shooting I was in. Not drawing my gun, not shot placement, those were automatic, based on how I was trained, I don’t remember thinking about them. I do remember thinking “Am I justified in what I am about to do?” And I had about one second to react. I saw the suspect pulling something from his waistband, I thought it was a gun, but wasn’t 100% sure. It was a gun, and had I hesitated I could have very well been killed. I’ll also add this… I don’t have a problem discussing scenarios on an open forum. As I said, I know the law. I would never shoot someone that wasn’t trying to kill me or some other innocent person in an attack I had not provoked. That means if my big mouth gets me in a situation where I’m threatened with an azz whipping, I’ll take the azz whipping. Even in my home, I can’t see shooting a burglar unless I see a weapon; even though I am justified in doing that. Too many people fear the unknown, and when you are carrying a gun that can cost you or someone in your family their life. Know the law. Don’t try to work around it or bend it to meet your needs.
  17. No need for tar, or feathers. You get the opportunity to start over about every four years. Last time many of us thought it would be great to have someone that isn’t a politician, and could help our economy recover. That is exactly what we got and exactly what he did. That great economy was destroyed by a pandemic. It will require a good businessman at the helm for a quick recovery (is that's even possible). Would you like that to be Donald Trump or Andrew Cuomo? Or…would you like Joe Biden? I don’t think the dems will run Joe though. With his mind going, putting him in a debate with Trump would just be mean.
  18. Ha, ha, ha, in one of the daily briefings Trump was getting hammered about when people would start getting unemployment. He said something to effect of, Hey look, all we can do is give the money to the states. We have no control over how fast they get it out. They tell me some states are using 40 year old computers, and are struggling with this.
  19. Thanks, I'll compare that. But its only $19.99 on Amazon.
  20. My question about carry insurance has never been answered, and it is simply this… I do not believe for one second that any insurance company is going to pay your legal defense fees for a bad shoot. I have asked for stories of real life cases that we could check where that happened, not stories in ads. So far nothing.
  21. She isn’t the only one. Trump said this appears to be three or four times higher in black communities, and he wants to find out why. Of course, I don’t think they know that. It could be more non-sense he heard someone say and repeated it. At this point its purely politicians pandering for votes. Cuomo said he is going to start an investigation and send crews out to do more testing in minority communities. Of course, you will get higher results in minority communities if you specifically focus testing there. What a bunch of azzhats.
  22. Sure, they are the highest-ranking Officer in their department, and don’t have anything to do with the military, 7-stars, 8-stars, 3 rows of five, whatever it takes. I didn’t mean there was anything wrong with it. I just had always thought it was a position of a top Navy Medical Officer. I did not know it is not a military position at all. So, when I realized that I wondered “What the hell are all those ribbons for?” So, I learned that also. What made me look was I didn’t think he looked old enough or sounded smart enough to be a Navy Admiral. So I looked at his Bio. He’s one of the VP’s crew.
  23. Absolutely, and I wouldn’t care if I had an escape route; I wouldn’t need to go anywhere. This question came up before about a guy that stabbed his girlfriend to death in a car at a gas station. I was surprised how many said they would watch and be a good witness. I would have given him an opportunity to surrender and if he didn’t; I would have killed him. I hope someone else that would do the same would be around if that happened to my wife or daughter. I understand the laws governing the use of deadly force and I do not fear the government, therefore I have no reason not to act.
  24. When I was in boot camp, they were using those shot “guns”. One of our guys jumped and it ripped his arm open. As the blood was pouring down his arm our Company Commander yelled “Don’t Move when they give you the shot!” I never moved when getting a shot after that, even with a regular needle.
  25. The 11th person has died from Gallatin Center. News story’s say employees that said they were sick were told they had to come to work.
