  1. I’ve made no arguments that alcohol is better or worse than drugs. What I can say with absolute certainty is that if drugs are legalized; there will be more drug users that will want to break into our homes to steal or stuff or stick a gun to peoples head to take their money. Yes, Yes.... I know the pot heads aren’t going to stick a gun to my head and try to take my money. They will be driving in the left lane 20 MPH under the speed limit, talking on their cell phones, clueless to what is going on around them (mixed in with the dumb azzes that do that now, high or not). But the crime associated with Crack, Meth, and Heroin users needing money to get their next fix will skyrocket. Argue that all you want; but it’s just common sense. Yes, there are people addicted to alcohol that will commit crimes to get a fix; there are also those that will commit violent crimes because of the loss of control alcohol causes. There are even those “good†citizens that think it’s okay to stop after work for a few and then drive home. That is until they kill someone and find themselves facing prison time and financial devastation to their family. But with all the evils of alcohol (and they are real), do I want to say “Oh well, we might as well allow all substance abusers a shot at us. I don’t think so. When I have friends in other states that want their state legislators to allow carry permits; they like to discuss it with me because they know that Tennessee has carry permits. When they start with “My 2nd Amendment rights†I stop them right there and explain that if you base your argument on the 2nd amendment; you have lost before you get the words out of your mouth. HCP is not about rights, and the state of Tennessee doesn’t recognize my right to carry a gun any more than Illinois or New York. Same thing here… this isn’t about alcohol; and making an argument that alcohol is dangerous and drugs are dangerous; so both should be legal is ridiculous. This is part where you say you really don’t care about those other bad drugs, or the bad people that take them. You are only interested in pot because everyone knows that no one has ever gotten into trouble or caused someone else to be hurt because they were stoned. And let me say this about your friends that are in jail that didn’t do anything more than get arrested for growing pot at home for their own use…. I was a cop for years and have never seen anyone sentenced to jail that had a clean record and committed no crime other than growing a small amount of pot for themselves. I guess it could happen; but it’s highly unlikely. Of course, if that pot charge was coupled with aggravated battery on a Police Officer and resisting arrest; I could see how it could happen.
  2. I can’t find anything saying the Agent made a statement or what he said. Do you have a link?
  3. I’ve never heard of a “self-defense investigationâ€, It’s a homicide, the homicide division will investigate it, I wouldn’t read much into it being called a homicide investigation; that’s what it is, even if it turns out to be justifiable homicide.
  4. The discussion now seems to be… Alcohol is bad, so let’s legalize drugs.
  5. You are lucky they dealt with you. Most places would have told you that you have no involvement; tell him to come in himself. They must have been nice people.
  6. I’d be afraid they would turn out to be fake. I’d have to see some serious documentation to pay that kind of money (if I had it to pay, which I don’t). I’d like to hear the story of how those guns got out of the hands of the state, and into the hands of a private collector.
  7. Exactly. Point Instinct Shooting….. No lasers or sights required. Knowing how to do it could save your life.
  8. Of course we don’t know what happened. “Several hundred yards†are you kidding me? After the first 50 yards you are going fast enough to hit the brakes, throw him in front of the car and run over him if you think he’s a carjacker. Of course it’s possible that he identified himself as a cop and she was still not stopping. Her family said they had no idea why she was in that area. Dope deal? We could write for days and never cover all the possibilities or potential scenarios of what happened.
  9. They ran the whole first season yesterday. I DVRed it a watched it yesterday and today. Absolutely Brody is a terrorist. They kept you guessing right up to the point he was trying to detonate the vest. It was pretty clear after that; who cares what his thought process was? He has sold out his Country, Family, The Marine Corp, and now is trying to disgrace everything they stand for. Its entertaining. I’m curious how they are going to justify bringing Carrie back in the CIA now that they are zapping her brain with electricity.
  10. I like a fair price; and I usually find one. I picked up one today at Nashville Armory’s Open House. I could have bought it in the Boro and paid $110 more; but that didn’t seem like the smart thing to do.
  11. Have you called the TN DOS as was suggest in the other thread? I don’t see how a person can legally advertise an HCP class if they aren’t certified by the state.
  12. He shot at the cops on three different occasions. He had obviously made up his mind he wasn’t going back to prison.
  13. That’s a good deal, maybe I’ll check this week and see if I can find a deal like that locally.
  14. Sorry.... I do that sometimes.
  15. There is nothing remotely close to being the same in Crucible Particle Metallurgy and Metal Injection Molding. CPM S30V is a tough Tool Steel than can be heat treated into the 60 range and competes with D2 for toughness. MIM is nothing close to that application. I diss MIM technology in my guns because I know machining and metallurgy.
  16. Unless it was in effect prior to 1968, Tennessee does not allow local laws regarding firearms or their transportation other than the exceptions listed in 39-17-1311 (Parks).
  17. I still don’t get it? If you were on parole and specifically banned from using a computer or using a fake name because that’s how you stole money from innocent citizens and was sent to prison for it, and your Parole Officer walked in your house on an in-home check and found you making a movie on a computer using a fake name; he would probably violate you and we would never hear anything about it unless we knew you personally or you posted it here before they sent you off to prison. Yet because this dirt bag criminal violated the conditions of his parole, and made national news doing it which result in the death of Americans overseas; he is somehow a victim of politics and is having his rights violated? Man… I can’t make that leap and I don’t see how anyone else can either.
  18. You can still contact the seller, just do it in a PM. That’s the way most of us that want to buy do it anyway; it doesn’t bump a gun you are interested in buying back to the top.
  19. I am impressed with what I have read about this firearm and think I will give it a try. I have not seen or held one. I like the fact that they are 100% American Made. I see in the articles that they use MIM parts, but they don’t say what they are. Anyone know what they are or if there are any in the FCG? Anyone done a side by side comparison on accuracy with an S&W or Kimber with the same barrel length? Are they a “standard†1911 profile? Meaning will they fit holsters for other 5†1911’s? Buds sells them for $749 new, but they are out right now. If any of our forum dealers have one let me know. Any comments on this weapon are appreciated.
  20. Is It a Pre-Lock? Looks like the -5 could be either. The price seems to be what they are going for if its mint. It was made in 98/99, (Discontinued in 99). What did you think of the quality of the orginal blue finish? My opinion (since you asked), you can buy a 686 for that (or less, since you would be pushing $700) and it’s a much more desirable weapon. If you simply want blue, I would try to locate a High Gloss Blue Model 19. If price, finish or collectability is not an issue a 586 will shoot the same as a 686…. Excellent.
  21. Are the flutes clear to where you can get a tap extractor in it?
  22. I’m no lawyer but I don’t see anything that would cause anyone to think there is a duty to inform. I would be curious to hear from a Shift Commander why he thinks there is. Is there case law or something? I’m a former street cop, so I’m going to inform out of courtesy, respect, and for the safety of everyone involved......And to try to get out of a ticket. Cops get the law wrong all the time; they are just people. Now is your opportunity to have a friendly discussion with him again at your follow-up. If he finds he was wrong he may pass it on in the form of training.
  23. Nonsense. He’s a criminal that violated his parole. The government hasn’t done anything that would scare a non-criminal into not making a film like this. Although I hope that seeing innocent Americans murdered because of what this criminal did would stop them. This is a Parole violation; nothing more, nothing less, they happen every day.
  24. We have legal medical hydrocodone right now; how does that help the people that are being arrested on felony charges because they don’t have a prescription? Unless you have AIDS, Cancer, or think you can get a Doctor to write you a script; what good does this do you? And even if a state passes the laws, what about the Feds? This is what the Feds did to a state provider of medical marijuana. What do you think they will do when Colorado, Washington and Utah try to pass their recreational pot laws? And Arkansas Governor is preparing you for the staggering costs and they don’t even have it passed yet.
  25. None of our founding Fathers believed that the Constitution was a tool to protect criminals. He violated his parole by using a computer and using a fake name. He is a criminal and they are sending him back to prison. Freedom of speech is still alive and well.
