  1. I loaded up the preview version last weekend and played with it a while, the real version will be here Friday. It’s a different interface with some “Apps†added. It appears to me that it can be set-up exactly the same as 7. The first things I had to do was figure out why there wasn’t a close box on the “appsâ€, and had to create a shutdown button on my desktop. But I haven’t seen any big changes, or anything that would bother someone that had been running 7. I don’t have a touch screen to try any of that stuff. (and don’t see the need to get one) My Sound and Video won’t work properly on a clean install, but will on an upgrade. I’ll have to figure that out before I can switch completely.
  2. Of course you are. The circumstances determine the degree. You could also be charged criminally. There are also situations where you might shoot an innocent bystander and not be charged.
  3. Many people seem to desperately look for a guarantee that if they are in the right they won’t be charged criminally or sued civilly. There are no guarantees. But I believe that one thing you can do to reduce the risk is your state of mind about how you would react in a deadly force situation. If you limit the use of deadly force to situations where you are truly in immediate danger of death or great bodily harm; your risk of being charged or sued is pretty low. Not what you think you could make someone believe; but what you truly believe. Not some interpretation of some law that you think creates a free fire zone on your property, or some misguided belief that you can kill anyone that you perceive as a threat. If you are going to carry a gun; know the law. Read it, and make sure you understand it. It’s not rocket science; but it also has many variables and is generally applied to a specific situation or set of circumstances. I don’t know how many times I’ve seen on here “I don’t care what the law says; I’m taking care of my family!†Taking care of your family implies that you won’t be going to prison; if you do you didn’t take care of your family. Situations and circumstances, they can change in a split second; be able to keep up.
  4. Wow, that’s $611, that’s an excellent deal.
  5. You did a nice job. But if I’m reduced to fighting people errr… Zombies with bladed weapons; it’s all over.
  6. It’s legal, but UPS may not ship it if you declare what you are shipping. As long as it’s not a handgun I would go with USPS. Or what OS said while I was typing.
  7. I bought mine about three weeks ago at Nashville Armory for $689. They had at least two that I saw. I don’t know if they have any now. EDIT: But that is a good price. When I was trying to find one I was contacted by people wanting more than that for used.
  8. I have read it thoroughly and it’s been posted here several times. I’m no lawyer but I’ve worked enough criminal cases to know that just because the DA doesn’t file charges, it doesn’t mean you are innocent or that he won’t file later. If a DA had a way of making a ruling on a case that you were justified; I think you might have a chance, but how and why would he do that? And if you do get sued and you win; do you get your money back because you got a judgment against the people that brought the suit against you? Probably not, because chances are the people suing you for shooting their dirt bag family member don’t have any money. Its run by lawyers, they aren’t going to give you a way out without them getting a payday from someone that has the ability to pay.
  9. I don’t think Tennessee will outlaw private transfers. Of course I could be wrong, most of the legislation you will see coming will be in the area of background checks or keeping guns out of the hands of criminals and nut cases. If I were a dealer I would do transfers for free: I think it would be a good way to get traffic in my store. However, I don’t think dealers should be required to do transfers; and they aren’t. They can charge anything they like. The ones that do the crazy pricing I just assume don’t want to do transfers. If the government was serious about keeping the guns out of the hands of criminals they would set-up places to do free transfers. How they would deal with the mental cases is questionable. Most nut cases don’t have anything in public records that indicate they are nut cases; they find out they are nut cases after they kill a bunch of people. How serious is this issues to the government? In Tennessee we had a person that had his HCP revoked because a judge said he was a potential threat to public safety. What did the Feds do? Gave him an FFL. How crazy is that?
  10. The “shortage†and the inflated prices is caused by the “sky is falling†gun owners and some suppliers that want to cash in on the gun seizure, or gun shortage hysteria. The anti-gun people don’t have to do anything but sit back and laugh. However, it appears some have learned a lesson from last election. Remember all the guys that bought $1500-$2k AR’s that now can’t get anywhere near that back? There is no long term shortage of guns. Manufacturers can’t buy machinery and train people to increase production because the demand won’t hold.
  11. I would have filed reckless conduct charges against him. You don’t shoot at a target you can’t identify.
  12. You don’t automatically get arrested for firing a “warning shotâ€. Just because many departments have policy’s against them doesn’t mean you automatically get arrested for it. If you are justified, you are fine. If I was in an area where I could do so, and had time, I wouldn’t hesitate to fire a shot into the ground in front of an attacking dog. If I have to discharge a firearm I’m staying where I am and calling the Police anyway; if they want to charge me; so be it.
  13. The Liquor Stores and Donut Shops will be under the control of the local Police; no beer for you.
  14. They are the same “whack jobs†that are predicting a Federal government takeover or Martial law. So everything should be oaky for them. Obama will invoke Martial law, we won’t have an election, and everyone will live happily ever after. Or…. Romney gets elected, the Federal Troops that are staged to take over major cities stand down, and we see how Romney does.
  15. Just curious, could your dog get to the people that were walking by or was it inside a fence?

    500+ Yard Range?

There aren’t any (that I know of) except the base at Tullahoma, but we can’t shoot there unless it’s a match or something. 300 meters at Manchester is the longest I know of that you can walk on and shoot. We need to take up a collection and buy a strip of land 50 yards wide and 1000 yards long.
  17. Loaded it up last night. Install was really quick. It's different.
  18. Justice would be if you were allowed to find the owner and stomp a mud hole in his azz.
  19. Every year about this time Dicks runs a special on a Remington 700 heavy barrel with a cheap scope and camo stock for around $449. It’s a cheap scope and an ugly stock, but at the heart it’s the same 700 heavy barrel people are paying a lot more money for. You might want to check it out.
  20. I have enjoyed it so far. Okay….. Let’s kick around some girly gossip. I predict Scarlett will go on tour opening for Rayna, and their tour will kick azz on Juliette.
  21. That pretty much says it all. You can mess around for a long time running multiple backgrounds checks, checking with other people, hand wringing, or you can send them on their way. The risk isn't worth messing with it.
  22. Not me, I'd rather be dead than in prison. It drives me to know the laws.
  23. Unlike all other counties in Tennessee in Davidson, the Sherriff is not the CLEO. It appears to me they want to modify the charter to give the Sherriff the authority to help enforce the federal immigration detention program. But I could be wrong.
  24. I’m too old to run; all I can do is stand and deliver.
