No, clearly this is a case of the government attempting to strip rights away from people. That's what they do... wring their hands in dark smokey rooms, waiting for a natural disaster to happen so they can swoop in and do evil deeds. New Jersey is not/was not under “Martial Lawâ€. If they were the Military would be running the show; the Military is not. Of course there were curfews; there was wide spread looting and violence. What is it you and your girlfriend would like the government to do.... walk away?
Been a C&R holder for a while, never heard anything from Johnny Law. Guys that I talked to at the PD said they do an average of about 5 a month. They don't have time or the desire to pop over to my house and see my collection.
Just curious.... why you think it would have anything to do with the local PD or why they would have a clue as to how many checks the BATF is doing? They aren’t involved. Who is your local PD doing 5 checks a month on?

I don’t think anyone here is saying that “spanking†is necessarily abuse. That’s a call for the cops to make when they arrive. I was one of the cops that had to make that call. I never arrested anyone for spanking their child. But I did arrest a few for domestic violence when I saw bruises or welts from a belt on a child’s back or butt. Hit your kid with something other than an open hand if you want to, but know that if another family member or a school teacher calls the cops; the chances are pretty good you are going to jail. All of those I arrested were appalled at the idea that anyone would call them a bad parent. I generally told then to get over it and start making arrangements for bail; you don’t want to go into jail as a child abuser. I am a parent and a Grandparent. Two kids, because I was beat as a child I never laid a hand on either of them; they turned out great. They don’t beat their kids either.

Congrats on your new gun. It didn’t happen by accident. It will probably happen again unless you find out what happened. Saying to “just fill out the paperwork and wait†because it’s useless to call anyone isn’t good advice. If I had done that I would still be getting denied. Of course I doubt many here that know they are eligible are going to sit and wait when they get denied. If the TBI is denying people for no reason, it won’t get fixed unless people complain. They were clueless in my case, I’m not sure how the people I talked with found their way to work in the morning, but they did give me enough info to contact an agency that did know what was going on (BATF).

A Last Minute Appeal To Libertarians And Non-Voters
DaveTN replied to gun sane's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I don’t think most people that take the time to vote are going to walk into that polling place and throw their vote away. Some will, but I don’t think most will, that’s what I hope anyway. -
Tell that to our military suppliers, please, that have been handing out Italian Berettas for 25+ years...
I have said that; on many occasions. The 9mm is a lousy caliber for a Military handgun, and there is no excuse for our Military to be buying foreign made products with our money we they are asking us to support American business.
Most likely one of largest suppliers of firearms to law enforcement, GT Distribuhors, has dropped their S&W's because of a lack of agreement with territories. I think it will be harder for S&W to catch up.
I don’t know why anyone would think that. I don’t care how big a distributor is their territory will be covered by a new distributor. LEO’s and LEO agency aren’t going to disregard the M&P just because a particular distributor doesn’t handle it.
if dcs does nothing who do i contact next?
The juvenile division of the Police Department. It won’t be easy, look what’s going on right here, you have people telling you the world’s problems is because people don’t beat their kids. You have to step up. Make a domestic violence complaint; then the cops are required to act. This sounds like a lot more than a parent spanking their kid. We are only getting your side of the story (as usual); you may be a nut case, we don’t know. But if you contact the Cops, make yourself known, and make a complaint; you have done all there is to do. You are a family member living in the same house; as much as I hate to say this, that kicks it up a notch from someone making a complaint that gets passed to DCFS.
Not to mention they have accuracy issues that are well documented and that AWFUL AWFUL factory trigger. Sent from my SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
Really? A few glocksters claim accuracy issues with M&P’s, and also claim it’s only the full size 9mm’s and that makes sense to you? Type “Glock accuracy problems†into Google and let us know if we should believe all those stories also. The battle for the LEO market is fierce. Because with it comes the private sector. Neither side is above lying nor doing whatever it takes to get it. Glock may be a good gun but they are losing that market to the M&P. They are both good guns. Heck, I’m just glad to see American guns back in the hands of American cops and I can finally buy Tupperware guns without having to buy foreign or 2nd best. There is just no reason not to support American gun manufactures to make sure they remain in our country.

300 Blackout as a "End of Times" caliber
DaveTN replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Survival and Preparedness
I agree that 5.56 will be more readily available, however so should .308; that's where I think resources should be placed if you are thinking about going the .30 caliber route. This way your not necessarily tied to the reloaders bench if the need arises to be mobile.
#1 That’s what I was thinking as I read this thread. I have both .223 and .308 AR’s and Bolts. .308 is my “go to†in a rifle combat/hunting round. But then I have absolutely no intention of reloading or making bullets. As to the availability of ammo in an “End of Times†scenario I feel the same way Sgt. Mag. Plumley did about rifles… “Time comes I need one, sir, there'll be plenty of 'em lying on the ground.†If I had to move (which I don’t see happening unless it’s a natural disaster), and I could only take one rifle it would be my 308 Panther. It can be used in any rifle application. If I had room for a second it would be my 308 Remington 700 VLS . -
Its 30 bucks for three years, how much waffling can you do? I’ve saved hundreds of dollars with mine and I have never used it to buy a gun. I saved $140 on one scope.

Thumbs down. They are good guns but I don’t buy foreign made when I have an American made choice that is better. Smith & Wesson M&P. Support your country’s economy with your purchases when you can. Oh yeah, and go vote Obama out of office Tuesday.
-
None of those rounds really compete with each other. But if I was buying a lever it would be .357MAG.

Admiral relieved of command. Makes me wonder more...
DaveTN replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
A President will never be impeached for not using the military against civilians of another country. All the people of this country can do is not reelect him on Tuesday. -
He can’t do anything with the military against this country, if he loses the election he couldn’t take over a day care center. But he can issue pardons,Executive orders, and start wars in other countries. When any forward thinking company has a person in leadership give notice they take their keys, give them a pat on the back, thank them for their service, and walk them out the door…. Right then. There’s a reason for that and it should apply to the President. When the election results are certified, the winner should be sworn in. It’s insane to leave a President in Officer for nearly three months, especially one that has been voted out. We have too much going on in the world to leave someone like that in charge.

You have to join and log-in to check items that have sold. (It's free). It's really the only way of seeing what stuff is really selling for.

I'll say the same thing I said the last time this was posted. If you want to copy a state; copy one of the four states that have Constitutional carry. Louisiana can make all the noise they want about this, but it won't be the strongest 2nd amendment law in the nation. You don't a law, just recognize the 2nd amendment as any individual right of citizens and you are good to go. Look at Vermont. All of the free carry states are Yankee States. It would be nice to see Tennessee be the first Southern state to do it.

Poll - On your carry gun; Safety or no Safety?
DaveTN replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Well, the wording of the poll sure doesn’t intend it to be taken seriously does it? “When I carry a gun with a safety I’ll sweep my gun for nothing..†Really? That has nothing to do with guns and everything to do with intelligence. Maybe some people shouldn’t carry guns. I would prefer both a magazine disconnect and a safety option, although sometimes I don’t use it. It’s all application driven. I have the ability to know what I’m carrying and whether or not I need to deal with a safety. Every rifle I own has a safety and I use them also. I have probably 10 or 12 different carry guns. Following the logic of this thread; I need to get rid of all except the ones that function the same. -
They got the idea from Tennessee.

Admiral relieved of command. Makes me wonder more...
DaveTN replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
As much as I hate Obama I certainly would like to blame all this on him. However, my point was that in the case of the General it is implied that he was going to violate an order to stand down. His 2nd in Command more or less arrested him and took over Command. The men had to approve of that and go along with it. I have said before that the military and Police will not follow unlawful orders in any great number. That is what you have here; the men refused to follow the General when he refused to stand down. So much for the idea that the military will do whatever they are told; they wouldn’t follow an unlawful order even when not following it resulted in the death of Americans. Now… if you want to blame Obama neither the General nor the CIA in the area should have been given the order to stand down. -
Admiral relieved of command. Makes me wonder more...
DaveTN replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
You can't leave either in Command in a situation like that. The integrity of the Command has been compromised. I don't see where there was any other choice and I doubt it made it all the way to Obama before that decision was made. -
The big question - concealed or open?
DaveTN replied to Pat's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Doesn’t matter what we say, you will be the one responsible for your outcome. Use common sense and keep the gun politics out of it (statements about rights, what other people think, self-appointed messiah of forcing guns on people, or other silliness that has nothing to do with the issue at hand) and the choice will be pretty clear. -
It’s a 12 year old car and you’ve driven it 4K miles. Sell it and move on to something else. You would need some serious misrepresentation to have a case. And even then he wouldn’t worry about you unless you had a lawyer; lawyers cost money.

My dog will bite. He’s never bit anyone but he’s 100 pounds of teeth and I bet it would hurt. Having said that….. I spent a lot of money to contain my dog. I have a 6 foot chain link fence around the back yard. He is kept in the house and we keep an eye on him when he’s out. When I take him out of his yard to the park, or store, he is great with people, friendly as can be. But if someone walked though that fence I think he would bite. Of course he will be at the gate barking so I doubt anyone would try. There was a great show on Animal Planet about this. I don’t know if the still run it or not, but it was an attorney that handles nothing but dog bite cases. Bottom line… Unless someone is attacking me or breaking into my home, if my dog bites them; I am likely going to get sued. The fact that someone is on your property or the fact that your dog is on his own property doesn’t mean he has the right to bite…. That’s crazy. You can’t shoot trespassers and you can’t sic your dog on them; you will go to jail.
