1. The side that wanted States Rights may have lost the war, but it certainly made sure no one wanted to fight that fight again. If the states say ObamaCare is over…. It’s over. States’ Rights did away with the “Right to bear” part of the 2nd amendment; I think it can kick ObamaCare to the curb.
  2. I hope the FBI (or anyone else) couldn’t track the head of the CIA’s email without the CIA knowing it. But I guess you just never know.
  3. I think I saw that Kansas and Missouri rejected it also?
  4. You need to talk to a criminal defense attorney right away. I think you are putting yourself at risk of arrest by having anymore conversations with the DOS or TBI. Of course I could be wrong.

    got laid off
I have recruiters calling me weekly.
So do I. I haven’t been on a Headhunters list for a few years, but all of a sudden I’m getting calls about Machinists and Toolmakers jobs in Murfreesboro. I don’t know if something new is moving in or what, but if any of you are skilled trades in manufacturing you might want to give Aerotek in Nashville a call.
  6. Sorry, but I don’t buy into the “Everything is a cover-up at the highest levels of government”. I’m not saying that the incidents didn’t make his decision to resign easier; may well have. But “lawyering up” won’t get him out of anything. Cheating on your wife, as far as I know doesn’t carry criminal charges, and as far as I know he isn’t suspected of any other criminal acts. I guess he could try, but they would just grant him immunity and force him to testify. A person can only invoke the 5th in criminal matters, and only in a civil hearing if there is reason to believe criminal charges will be filed. He can’t refuse to answer in a Congressional hearing.
  7.
@ everyone - Will these guns do a good job at shooting clays? Just curious. If anyone feels that they are not, that's fine, I would like to know why or why not if possible. Again, thanks for all the help.
“Good job” is a relative term. An 18” barrel will not be able to compete with the much longer barrels. If you shoot clays at a range, check to see if they have a minimum barrel length requirement.
  8. What does anyone think this is getting him out of? He will still testify. And he’s testifying in front of a bunch of people that have done much worse than have an affair. Clinton had an affair and then lied to a Grand Jury about it.
  9.
+1 I could not imagine Biden as president but in 2017 we will see how he does. Dolomite
No we won’t, and I can start stacking up $100 bills to cover the bet. (And I’m not a gambler)
  10.
I doubt he will ever be a dictator; someone will kill his azz.
I don’t think so. We would be worse off. He protected himself by appointing the Village Idiot as next in Command if something happened to him.
  11.
If anyone in Washington could have weathered a sex scandal, Gen. David Petraeus would seem like that person. Yet the retired general who inspired admiration bordering on reverence from so many in the capital was abruptly out Friday as Central Intelligence Agency director, just one day after President Barack Obama learned of Petraeus's extramarital relationship. Intelligence community insiders say Petraeus was felled by an increasing sensitivity in the Obama administration to extramarital dalliances, stemming from recent cases in which officials at various levels have seen their careers scuttled for similar personal misconduct.
Now they are trying to spin it that Obama fired him. Obama is such a scumbag; I can’t believe we have to deal with his crap for four more years.
  12.
Hello! I am new here and I have a similar question. In 1992 I was convicted of forgery, a felony, and I was given a 1 year sentence with probation. According to the TN HGC qualifications, "Applicants shall not have been convicted of any felony offense punishable for a term exceeding one (1) year;. So I took the class and applied for my permit and was denied because of this. Am I misunderstanding this requirement? My conviction was punishable for 1 year exactly and the denial letter states this. Should I bother with an appeal? Thanks Confused and discouraged.
They don’t care what your sentence was; or even if you didn’t serve any time and got probation. It’s the amount of time the offense could carry. It basically separates Misdemeanors and Felonies. Because your felony is 20 years old and isn’t violent or involve drugs; you would be a good candidate for expungement. However, Tennessee is one of the hardest states I have ever seen to get gun rights back in, make sure when you start the process your attorney knows getting your gun rights back is your ultimate goal. Unless I’m mistaken you are a “felon in possession”. And I think Tennessee just made that mandatory prison time.

    Sheetrock
Lowe's is where I got the piece of sheetrock and it seems too thin. Guess I'm headed to Home Depot in the morning.
½” is the standard for interior walls; 5/8” Is used on ceilings to prevent sagging. ¼ and 3/8 is used to wrap on curved surfaces. Lowes will have ½”; you must have just not seen it.
  14.
That doesn’t mean that he may not face charges back in Florida if they decide to charge him as well.
Why would he face charges in Florida? It was 23 years ago and Florida can’t enforce the FIP here.
  15. I would think a Federal ban on private sales would be overturned by the SCOTUS if it happened. They left the door open for banning and outlawing stuff, but they made it pretty clear that ownership is a right. They left half the 2nd amendment intact as far as the individual is concerned.
  16. I don’t know why anyone that served with such an honorable military career as he had would want a job running the CIA. There is nothing to indicate what he is saying is not the truth. The elections over; Obama doesn’t have to answer to anyone anymore. If he wanted to fire him; he would just do it. Looks to me like the guy had an affair and stepped down because of it.
  17.
I'm curious about how all this would work in a state like TN, where private party sales are legal, you don't have to follow the serial number around forever, etc. What if you owned an 'assault rifle', and sold it in a private party sale? People buy/ sell/ swap guns all day long. You don't know the address or full legal name of the person it went to. As of now, you don't have to. What then? What would/could they do? You dont have it. What do you guys think?
Should they ever outlaw a specific type of weapon with no Grandfather clause, it wouldn’t be an issue of you having to explain where it went; no one would care. The issue would be when you are found to be in possession. Many of us here have thousands of dollars (some more) in weapons that would be banned. I think the “No Grandfather” discussion is to try to scare everyone into thinking they may lose all the money they have in these guns and get them to accept something that allows them to keep their arms but bans future sales. The states need to step-up. Tennessee passed the Tennessee Firearms Freedom Act, but it hasn’t been tried yet. I don’t think the Feds or the SCOTUS wants to get into a “States Rights” pizzing match. It would be ironic that the very thing that rendered the 2nd amendment pretty much useless for the individual may help everyone keep their guns.
  18. This will end the way all HD shotgun thread end…. Remington 870. They are cheap and they are proven performers. There is no limit to options and costs. For a Home Defense shotgun I prefer the 870 with a 20” rifled slug barrel with adjustable rifle sights. I prefer the beauty of the rich looking walnut and the deep gloss blue of the WingMaster, but of course that’s about twice the price of an Express. Synthetic is out for me, but that’s your best bet for the lowest price.
  19.
This is what the guy just sent me when I told him no, I cannot legally sell him the rifle. "I said I'd take it so please consider it sold as far as showing it to other people. Easy way to confirm I can buy it In person is just call your local pd and ask them. My ffl says Since neither of us are ffl it's a private sale and the fact that we live in different states is irrelevant."
He's clueless. Selling a gun to a convicted felon could be the least of your worries; and pretty hard to prove you knew. The biggest concern I would have would be that after he told you he was from out of state and you sold to him; he took the cuffs and placed you under arrest.
  20. I’m not a big knife buyer, but I would not be impressed by cutsie names and funny hats. I would want to see close up detail showing blade surface finish and edge detail, handle detail, etc. Unless you want to spend a butt load of money on a new camera and learn some software packages, you might consider finding a skilled photographer locally that will trade photos for knives. Not trying to be hard on you, but you are new, and people are going to have to see close up detail of your work if you expect to sell over the net. Especially when you are asking hundreds of dollars for your work.
  21.
Yeah, I said whore and she is. No self respecting LADY would dress like that for public display or put it out on video. Only filthy tramps and whores walk around half naked showing the world what they have. It's sad and pathetic. Likewise, it's equally pathetic that people eat that mess up like a starving dog. People claim to have evolved and progressed to an all time evolutionary high but the truth is, humans are just a bunch of animals no different than a feral pack of curs.
Wow, having a bad day? I woke up to find Obama reelected and was pizzed; but I didn’t let it get me that depressed.
  22.
So is the there anyone who thinks there will NOT be a run on ammo or ARs? If so, It'd be great to hear your thoughts.
There shouldn’t be. But as you can see here, it looks like we are going to do it to ourselves again. Some people don’t seem to be happy unless they are overreacting about gun laws that no one has proposed expect them. The anti’s can just set back and have a good laugh…. Again. Luckily I’m pretty well set. I won’t need to buy anything until the prices go back down. All the guys that got burned last go around paying hundreds more for their AR’s than they were worth will be able to unload them on a new group this time.
  23.
Explain how a citizen exercising his 4th amendment right is not normal. You seem to be suggesting that the LEO would have been justified in shooting him simply for not answering his question. How absurd. Is that the kind of cop you are?
I’m not a cop; haven’t been for many years. And if you read what I posted and interpreted it as me saying I thought it was okay to shoot him for not answering the question; then there’s no point in you and I continuing the discussion.
  24.
Those of you who think both were at fault, exactly what did the marine pilot do wrong?
He answered the question “Do you have any weapons” with the statement “I do not consent to any searches”. That is not the answer of a normal citizen. To have someone answer like that and then the Officer see the gun; I wouldn’t have had a problem with it if the Officer put him on the pavement at gun point until his back-up arrived. The guy wanted a problem… he found it. Luckily no one had to die.
  25.
What effect (if any) does the gun being locked in a glovebox have on the LEO's ability to seize the weapon without a warrant? Does having your gun stowed in a locked glovebox mean you are disarmed?
How did the cop get in the glove box? If you are arrested from the vehicle and the Officer is towing it, everything in it is fair game without a warrant. If the cop has probable cause and is searching for drugs, he can search anywhere drugs can be. That includes the glove box. I would call a loaded gun in a glove box, locked or not readily accessible. Unless there is some specific case law; you are armed. Point being…. If I’m out drinking and happen to have my gun with me, I’m unloading it and putting it in the trunk, while my wife drives. If a cop asks if there is a gun in my vehicle I will answer him honestly. I think saying “Yes, it’s in the locked glove box” while you are sitting in the passenger seat drunk; may not end well for you or your HCP. That’s just my opinion; I’m not an expert on Tennessee law and didn’t stay at a Holiday Inn last night.
