  1. Gun control means little or nothing when it comes to crime rates. Memphis consistently has a higher crime rate than Chicago. Chicago is 4.2 times the size of Memphis. I don’t know how many murders Memphis had last year, but find out and do the math so we can compare them with that story.   I say this because I don’t want the decisions on gun control based on crime rates. It will be used against us. Memphis has very little gun control but is one of the most dangerous cities in this country.
  2. I had it happen twice and I had bought many guns. Mine were both on a Saturday and were cleared by appeal on Tuesday.  You can call, the TBI, but they were pretty clueless in their guesses as to what happened with mine. BATF is who ended up telling me what caused mine, and how to fix it.
  3. I’ve never seen Obama or the liberals address profit on the sale of a gun; they don’t want you to be able to sell it period. I did however see the video of the guy walking around the Democratic National Convention asking the question “Should the profits of Corporations be controlled?” If you can get past the pathetic part of it the responses were hilarious.
  4. The difference in perceived recoil between a quality defensive round and reloads wouldn’t be enough to be a factor. For practice use WWB, they are fine.
  5. Your post sounds like you are getting ready to do something you know isn’t right and want someone’s stamp of approval. You will get all kinds of posts that anything you do is okay, free enterprise, supply and demand and all the that non-sense. But it’s your credibility, and your own personal moral compass that you have to look at. Unless you openly put a crazy azz price on it here, the only one that will know is you.   If all you want is the money; I would wait, this is just getting started.
  6. I don’t think anyone has ever said someone wouldn’t try to take your guns, several of us have said it won’t happen. No one is going to take your guns. I said it before and I’ll stick my neck out and say it again. The politicians need to make noise like they are doing something. Will they get a hi-cap magazine ban? I think so. Will they be telling you that you have to turn your guns in or knocking on your door to take your guns … No.   Will there be an assault weapons ban? Only if the individual state allows it.
  7. They keep taking it down because Anonymous is a criminal enterprise consisting of cowards. Regardless of their message, these are not people we want on our side, or making our arguments for us. The Feds don’t fear their threats; they mess with the feds and they will be in prison where they belong. If I were part of the Brady Bunch I would try to make it appear that there is an alliance between these criminals and legal gun owners.

    S&W model 49

Post the serial number and anyone with a SCSW can give you a year. (You can put X for the last two digits if you want)
  9. The devil himself walked into that classroom, and he will put his hand on another soul to do it again. The next one will try to outdo the last one. Would a gun ban stop him? Absolutely not, but it might stop a lawfully armed citizen from stopping him.
  10. Gun confiscation won't fly at the Federal level. It might fly in California. The threat of it is going to be used to settle for something less. Federal gun confiscation would not make it past the SCOTUS even if it was passed, just like with the 2nd; they won't force the hand of States Rights. Not much to stop it at the state level though.   I want to hear from those legislators that are suggesting this what they think they are going to do when citizens refuse to turn them in. Are they prepared to create a new group of criminals that have done nothing but exercise the rights the SCOTUS recently reinforced? Are they ready to put them in prison? Are the Police ready to arrest them? Are they ready to put the gun manufactures out of business?   No, the value would not skyrocket; it would plummet. The only way you could sell one would be to commit a felony. Machine gun prices skyrocketed because they could legally be transferred; I don't think they are talking about that being an option here.
  11. Depends on what you mean by "target". For a center fire target, without getting into high dollar competition guns, I would suggest the S&W 686 revolver. Proven performer, very good adjustable sights and you can make the action like glass. Second choice would be a quality 1911. I don't really think of my Tupperware guns as "target" guns unless you are talking IDPA or something like that. Rimfire opens up a whole bunch of possibilities.
  12. Welcome James. That is very impressive shooting. Say what you will about the equipment, but it is useless if it's not in the hands of a marksman that has the skills to make it perform. You obviously have those skills. Well done, I'm sure you will be a good source of information for the members of TGO.
  13. Exigent circumstances allow them to search without a warrant. If there is probable cause and exigent circumstances or plain view a warrant is not needed. If there is probable cause to search with or without a warrant; it doesn't matter whether you are there or not. They can search anywhere the item they are searching for can be. Drugs gives a free pass to everywhere; if they were looking for something specific like a rifle, they can only search where a rifle can be (thats why they would have ammo on the warrant).

    M1A or AR10 ?

DPMS has good rifles in the $1200 range, I thought I read that Wal-Mart was selling one basic model for around $900. Of course this was prior to the recent events, Buds has none listed they are sold out of everything. Some locals dealers might have something but unfortunately for you this may not be a good time to buy price wise, as I doubt there will be any "deals".
  15. I shoot there. Maybe with the price increase there will be expansion on the rifle side. I've had to leave because I couldn't get a rifle spot. I'm guilty of not taking my targets down, because I use some quality bulls eye targets and other people that don't have targets seem to shoot whatever is up. But I hate to call for a cold line just to walk 300 yards down and back (I don't get in a big hurry :)) to take down a target. But I'll sure do it if its causing a problem. But carrying junk onto the range is not cool.
  16. This is going to have to hurt dealers also if they can't get the good stuff. If the big dealers increase their orders someone is going to get shut out.
  17. Bingo.... I just have to laugh when I hear legislators talking about banning cell phone use while driving. This isn't rocket science, your family members have a better chance of getting hurt or killed by a soccer mom on a cell phone than by an AR at school or the mall. So why isn't it banned? Because our legislators do it. The key may be getting AR's into the hands of more of our legislators.
  18. Unless you have committed a crime in the transfer of that weapon; it is simply a gun a crime scene. Are you going to be charged with the crime that took place? Probably not on the weapon trace alone. Are you going to be charged if the weapon sale was illegal? Probably, if it can be proven in court. The man who sold the gun to McNairs girlfriend made a plea deal for 30 months in prison.
  19. That's what I'm thinking.... which leads me to believe he isn't done yet. I know I wouldn't be.
  20. If you drive drunk in our state we are going to put you in jail. - The legislatures of most states with support from most of their Citizens.
  21. In case anyone was wondering where he stands on gun control.
  22. Until that Happens we are going to have a Democrat for a President. And a Democrat that is pro gun won't get elected. Democrats are electing their paycheck. They want the government to pay them, provide them with health care, raise their children, and keep them safe from guns and criminals (the two go hand in hand in their eyes). They were united this election and they will be united in the next election. Can a republican ever win over that again? I don't know, but I'm pretty sure that it would take absolute support from everyone that is against what the Democrats stand for.
  23. People are standing together. The people that elected Obama stood together while we were split and they defeated us at the polls. The only way we will win is at the polls. Some of us here tend to get distracted by shiny objects and third party candidates that have absolutely no chance of winning. We (Conservative Republicans) are not united, and the republican party has done a terrible job of getting someone to run that is electable.
  24. Our government isn't going to let gun control start a civil war..... period. Even though that is what some seem to want.   Between the recent SCOTUS rulings that we have a right to own guns, and Posse Comitatus, do you really believe we can get to the point of military forces at your door wanting your guns? You think military action against American Citizens can be accomplished by the stoke of a pen on an executive order?   Let's be real for a moment. If military forces or Police Officers were ordered to go to homes and confiscate guns; they would refuse. The President would no longer have control of the military and Homeland Security would no longer have any power. I hate Obama, but one thing he is not is ignorant.   The Soviets? Because on the other side was the United States, China and Saudi Arabia; hardly a bunch of folks with pitchforks.
