86-year-old Woman w/ BB Gun Charged
DaveTN replied to Oh Shoot's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I’m getting a 46 caliber conversion for my pellet gun. -
Son asked me a question to settle an argument
DaveTN replied to Chas.'s topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
It’s better than the alternative of needing to act AND being charged. -
James, Help us stop these people. Obama and Biden are always going to “side step†something whether it be the Constitution, the Supreme Court or Congress. There are many patriots here, but none of us want to fire the first shot. I hear ya brother, but you can’t help if you are dead and buried as a terrorist. There are enough idiots that want nothing more than a civil war because these losers don’t have anything to lose. They don’t have a life, a family, or give a rat’s azz about anything. Most of us do have and we want to maintain our country, not tear it apart because of the two idiots we have in the white house right now. BTW.... he didn't pull the video. Employers Requiring The Right to Search Your Vehicle
DaveTN replied to E4 No More's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Other than the obvious that is pretty much how it is now. That's why this bill is having such a hard time. kinda hard for the government to tell a business they have to allow guns in cars when they don't allow it for the public. -
Sorry, I meant registration. They also send out questionnaires at random requiring your policy information.

Hoppes is fine on nickle also. The gun solvent isn't what is going to damage a finish (provided its a good gun solvent) how you move abrasive material around on the finish is what is going to damage it. You can't hurt stainless unless you drag it on a rope behind you. Nickel is pretty tough but will scratch and you can't really remove the scratches. High gloss blue finishes are fragile, some of the flat blue finishes are more forgiving.

In Illinois you have to have proof of insurance to get a license. They will get it, then let it lapse, causing more secretarial work for the insurance companies and resulting in a rate increase. At least that is what they said years ago when Illinois passed the insurance law.

Lean some minor disassembly and you don’t have to scrub anything. This is not really a hobby you can enjoy without having the ability to disassemble a gun. You need a good set of screw drivers and use the screwdriver fits the slot properly so you don’t damage the screw of the surrounding area. (If you bought a Smith & Wesson revolver new one came with it) Yes, you can use Hoppes on a Blued gun, but like Hipower my wife raises heck so I switched to M-Pro 7. I have a tub with enough M-Pro 7 ( I bought a gallon jug) in it to submerge the gun. I remove the grips, and soak the gun overnight or longer. Carbon rings wipe right off and a tooth brush removes everything in the corners. All my revolvers anymore are stainless so I don’t have to baby them, but be real careful with blued. If you use something that scratches or damages the finish; it’s expensive to refinish.

Tennessee already tried this. It didn’t work for them and it won’t work for Illinois. I remember when Tennessee was handing out driver’s license to illegals, when I went to work at 6am there was a line around the block at the driver’s license station. When Tennessee did it there was talk in other states of not accepting Tennessee driver’s license as bond on traffic tickets or allowing it as a form of ID. Of course all this is moot, Obama is going to open the borders and also allow them to vote. There goes a rate increase for all of us.

How do I go about polishing the feed ramp in my M&P .40?
DaveTN replied to musicman's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
First, put the dremel tool down. Is the gun not feeding properly? Chances are pretty good its the magazines and not the feed ramp. Pick up the phone, call S&W and see what they want to do about it. -
News agency's don't have freedom of information on private web sites. Anyone that captures the interest of the Feds probably will be located if they want to contact them.

I saw that earlier and was going to post it, but then I thought that dumb SOB doesn’t deserve to get any hits.

Employers Requiring The Right to Search Your Vehicle
DaveTN replied to E4 No More's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
That would be true if it were the government doing it. Is it a violation of your rights to tell you to piss in a cup? It’s a search with no Probable cause. You don’t have to piss in a cup and you don’t have to unlock your car. You just have to be ready to deal with the results of your choice -
Bank of America Jumping on the Band Wagon
DaveTN replied to TSprint1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
And I believe BOA should not be targeting illegal aliens for credit cards and home loans. BOA is damaging our economy. http://www.snopes.com/politics/immigration/bankofamerica.asp -
Mav, I have not accused Glock of misrepresenting anything. Quite the opposite, I said unless someone can provide a link I have never seen anyone from Glock claim their guns were manufactured here. I said the stampings mean nothing to me, they are required by the Federal law and have nothing to do with where the guns are manufactured. I am not reaching or trying to speculate on anything. In several threads where being made in America is important to a buyer, it has been stated as fact here that Glock are made in America. I suspect its BS and not fair to the buyer or to our American manufactures; but I do not know that for sure. Its important to me where a gun is made. If its important to other people I think its fair to get this questioned answered, don't you? If someone posts a fact on here about a gun that is wrong people are all over it. I know that many have posted they couldn't care less where their guns or anything else is made; that's fine, this won't be important to them.

Move to arm teachers picks up steam in TN
DaveTN replied to QuietDan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I disagree. Most school shooters that come to mind have already made up their mind they are going to die. I don’t think they fear much. If they know the school and the people inside they will have plans to take out any threat in the beginning. It would take someone with very good situational awareness and the skills to go heads up against an active shooter and survive to be of any use. Two shooters like Columbine would be tough for anyone, much less someone with no street or combat experience. I agree that most teachers won’t want to carry. My liberal azz ex-wife is a school teacher and so was my daughter until she got fed up with it and became a Probation Officer. Most school teachers I know live in a utopia where people don’t murder kids. Unfortunately unless they see it firsthand it isn’t an issue that has to be dealt with, by the time they do; it’s too late. Then some parents better get out and start raising some money for their kid’s schools. I think you might be able to get some trained professionals to donate time; but I wouldn’t want to open it up to volunteers for free security. That just won’t fly. -
Move to arm teachers picks up steam in TN
DaveTN replied to QuietDan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
It depends…. Do you hire untrained cops and put them on the street? Some cities do; most don’t. This isn’t an issue that is going to be decided by voters or public opinion. It’s going to be decided by parents, legislators and the individual school boards. An HCP wouldn’t cut it for me if I was a parent. -
I agree 100%. Our founding Fathers never intended “Separation of Church and State†to mean what it has become today. This country was built on Christian values. Fewer Americans today have any type of religion and when you don’t have religion you can justify anything; up to an including turning your back on your family and your country.

DaveTN replied to QuietDan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Never happen. You will have all kinds of nutcases volunteering. Parents will never go for it. I wouldn’t and I don’t have kids in school here, I would never stand for it where my grandkids are. -
Stock up now. I expect to see ammo go the way of cigarettes, all tax. Depending on whose polls you use, 20-30% of the population smokes and they can’t stop it. It’s a popular thing to tax, ammo will be also. And don’t think you reloaders will be left out; they will probably put a special tax on you because you are taking jobs away.

Move to arm teachers picks up steam in TN
DaveTN replied to QuietDan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Is it too much to ask that teachers that want to carry attend the same firearms training and have the same qualifications requirements as their city Police Officers have? I think that is reasonable and gets rid of the concerns that teachers would be less qualified than Police Officers. They may not get the same street experience, but they would have the same training as a new cop. -
Did they change it? Because this page says its required and specifically says it can’t be waived. You may not have needed it if you are retired military or something like that. http://www.odcmp.com/Sales/eligibility.htm
