  1. It’s just a promotion S&W does for LEO’s. You don’t have to be a cop to buy them. Because cops need three mags for a duty weapon they will put 3 mags with a handgun instead of two and give it a special SKU. Similar thing here, 20 round PMAG instead of 10 round metal mag. People like the “LEO Only” stuff because buyers will pay a lot more for it; really kinda silly on their part. As I said there is a guy selling these “LEO Only” to anyone that wants them at an incredible mark-up; and he will probably get it.
  2. That’s not unusual. They have so many agencies involved (BATF, IRS, the Canadians) they are sorting out what the will charge him with. They are probably waiting for Grand Jury Indictments.
  3. He has bigger problems than seeing those guns again; he has the tax dogs on him.
  4. As someone that tried it, I can assure you that all you will do is have a bunch of legal bills and possibly a criminal conviction. It’s been decided. If you want to argue Constitutionality; you are too late to the party. Unlike the state I was in, you are in a state that is willing to sell you the privilege; buy it and move on.
  5. Exactly, I didn’t mean to imply I would honor them, would be required to, or I think anyone else should. He isn’t a “suspect”, he is actively engaged in several ongoing forcible felonies and at this very moment the child is in danger of death or great bodily harm. He’s bought and paid for, all we can hope is that they can get the kid out. We have no idea whether demands have been made or not; no one is letting information out. Good for them.
  6. “Chances” or “statistics” don’t mean much to the hostage or his parents, but an FBI HRT team has taken over and they have an extremely high success rate. I would think if the guy was set on checking out he would have done so. The longer he stays alive I would think/guess the better the chances for the kid are; especially if he is talking.   Since he has a TV, they are releasing no information. I would like to think the TV news would black out any stories until this is over, but of course their ratings, or their perceptions of the publics “right to know” are more important to them than the life of that kid.
  7. I’d lie to him and I’d sign whatever papers necessary to offer him immunity if he let the kid go. Then put the cuffs on him. He’s a psychopath that has murdered one person and is holding a five year old kid hostage. I’d even send Obama a thank you note if he did something to free that kid. Besides, he beat a dog to death. I’d shoot him just for that.
  8. I support companies like Smith & Wesson, Ruger and Remington by buying their products. Smith & Wesson has been great about listening to their customers and giving them what they want. I support the dealers I use because they offer reasonable prices and refuse to buy from those that don’t. Anti-gun Mayors boycotting American Gun Manufacturers would have as much impact as fat people boycotting gyms. These guys act like they are the bread and butter for the gun companies. The gun companies want their business because the public wants what the cops carry. But the public won’t support companies that support gun control.
  9. Our policies of not negotiating with hostage takers has cost a lot more than one child their life. Negotiate with them, lie to them, and then kill or arrest them when they release the hostages.
  10. My Department had select fire weapons many years ago; and many do today. Why do they need them? BOA comes to mind among others. I’m not making any kind of argument that we shouldn’t have them, just that this is nothing new. I can have a select fire weapon; I just can’t justify the cost to do it.
  11.   I don’t know if this is a legitimate site or not, but his brother is asking for donations for a legal defense fund. Neither he nor his brother is arguing that he was arrested because he broke the law. So obviously unless the DA decides not to prosecute, or he makes a deal with the DA; this will be a test case.   http://www.gofundme.com/1tkukc
  12. Sure.   http://www.washingtontimes.com/blog/guns/2013/feb/1/miller-ny-vet-arrested-30-round-magazines-part-1/
  13. He has a crap load of guns on his website that show as “In-Stock” with many saying things like “Only 17 left”. It appears you can order directly off the site. So unless he is advertising guns he doesn’t have I don’t know why you couldn’t go pick one up. Shame to hear that though, we really need a good gun store in Murfreesboro. Nothing against my dealers on here I use, but I’m tired of making a 60 mile or more round trip to pick up a gun.
  14. This poor kid. They can’t do anything but wait this guy out. A missed attempt would probably mean death for the kid.
  15. Easy Rider magazine has a bike show at the Nashville convention center today. Wish I had known about it sooner so I could have got a hotel room.
  16. They need to spend that money in Illinois. In December the 7th Federal District stuck down Illinois laws banning guns in public and gave them six months to come up with new legislation. The Illinois citizens outside Chicago are good people just like many of us in Tennessee and want carry laws. Right now it appears it may be a “can issue” instead of a “shall issue” that will allow the County Sherriff to make the decision. This needs to be fought, it will allow most of the “downstaters” to carry but will still ban the citizens in “Chicagoland” from carrying while allowing the Chicago people with political pull to get permits. Many of us here know good people in Illinois and we need them in our group of people that can carry.
  17. Agreed. As these people “snap” they will either be demonized and have their HCP’s taken away as in the case we just saw, or if they go far enough they will be painted as domestic terrorists, used as example for gun control, and locked away in prison.
  18. He was in a parking lot of a business that was closed. When approached by a Police Officer and asked what he was doing, he said he was meeting someone to sell some AR-15 magazines. He has said he is not proclaiming innocence. He said he thought he was selling something legal, and it turned out it wasn’t. He said he was arrested and charged and “It is what it is”. So he wasn’t randomly pulled over for a vehicle check, and although it may be a bad law, he should have known the law. He may be the test case to challenge the validity of the law.
  19. Why is this news? Many Police Departments have select fire assault rifles, and have for over 30 years. They correctly say that they are called “assault weapons” when owned by civilians. But they don’t point out that very few civilians own them; the majority of us own the semi-auto version. However as I said before, getting in a pizzing match with the anti’s about what they are called won’t do anything. I’m more concerned what those orders will do to the already short supply. I don’t know if 7000 is a big deal to whoever is filling the military contracts now.
  20. It isn’t about money, it’s because they don’t want you (citizens)to carry a gun. They allow the guards because the school called them to make a pick-up. Call the cops or call Brinks and people with guns are going to show up....makes sense to me. I don’t know why anyone here is surprised that special people get special treatment. The Presidents Secret Service detail carry their guns everywhere they go, no matter what the laws are, so do the body guards of most visiting dignitaries.
  21. Because they can’t. That would be like telling a person an order of protection will protect them. They can’t protect you from criminals and they can’t protect you from the Feds either.
  22. It goes to show both sides that the availability of guns has little to do with crime rates.
