  1. And I bet your Father could tell you about and laugh about some of the mistakes he made. That’s why they are called rookies. Some mistakes are funny, some are dangerous, and some are negligent.   It happens in all jobs. I’m sure you can apply that to your military service and whatever job you do now. I know I made mistakes. We had more training in criminal law than attorneys get in law school. I have seen many attorneys make stupid mistakes in court that cost their clients, even when they had weeks or months to prepare. Our training was on-going; criminal law can change fast.
  2. There is no duty to notify. If he has “a few” years on the job, he shouldn’t really need to go check that.   Having been a Police Officer I will notify. I will do it because I respect them, I want a safe stop for everyone involved, I want them on our side, and the pavement around here gets scalding hot during the summer months.
  3.   That is the reason there are Training Officers, Senior Patrol Officers, and Command Officers both on the street and a phone call or radio call away.  To be transported you need more than one Officer, the chances of having an HCP and getting arrested for having a round chambered with multiple Officers present is pretty slim. Don’t you agree?   I would guess if the Officer was wrong about the law it was explained to him when the citizens left. But yes, if you are arrested for something that isn't against the law; you have recourse.
  4. Do a lot of Police Departments or Government agencies buy guns from Larue Tactical?
  5. I watched it happen in Illinois. I see it happening again. Some people want to attack Illinois and say they are getting what the deserve.  That is ridiculous; the people of downstate Illinois are good people just like most of the people in Tennessee.   Memphis is at or near the top of all lists of the most dangerous cities in America. Some even list Nashville. Gun control will be targeted as the fix. Since cities here can’t pass gun laws; the state lawmakers will be calling the shots for everyone. We are oaky, until there is a power shift.   If these politicians spent as much time on getting our manufacturing base back as they spend on gun control and welfare programs; welfare and crime rates both would drop.
  6. The nation reelected a socialist tyrant after four years of watching him side step congress and walk all over the Constitution. 40% of the votes cast in Tennessee were for him. How long do think it will be?
  7.   For how many Security Officers?
  8.   I don’t know the situation in California, but the liberal elite aren’t causing it in Illinois. The poor that think guns are the reason their kids are getting killed and going to prison is. Three of the 102 counties in Illinois making up "Chicagoland" (Cook, Dupage, and Lake) account for 53% of the population in 6% of the state’s land area. Unless you support government handouts and gun control; it’s tough to get elected. Tennessee will eventually become the same way.
  9. A race for gun control laws… Man I hope Illinois residents don’t let Chicago push them into that race. All the work we have done is really being tested. http://rt.com/usa/news/toughest-gun-law-california-708/
  10. Either I conceal well or I don’t look like the type of guy people want to engage in conversation. Never been asked.   We did have an incident at work where I was asked to carry.
  11. I watched this on the news last night; it really pizzes me off. How can a guy be arrested 334 times, stab 10 people and still be on the street? Obviously the cops are doing their job; why is the DA not doing his? This is ridiculous. Although I suppose now that this has been made public and tourists will be asking about it; something will be done. This is why we carry guns. Because people like Andy Davis are attacking citizens on the street. Wait until someone shoots this guy during an attack and the news media will have headlines “CARRY PERMIT HOLDER SHOOTS HOMELESS MAN”   http://www.wsmv.com/story/21088783/police-keep-watch-on-panhandler-with-history-of-stabbings   http://www.wkrn.com/story/21085200/andy-davis-334-charges
  12. If I thought I was stopping this guy it would be a coordinated felony stop and I would be in control; not him. This guy has said he knows how they will attempt to take him and is prepared. I’m assuming he has made up his mind he is going to die, so I would be concerned his vehicle is rigged to explode. I have no idea why those cops would open fire, unless they thought they saw a threat, or why they would be approaching the vehicle.Guess we will have to wait to hear what they say; if we ever do hear. Cops have the same requirements you have to use deadly force; they just have civil liability protections you don’t have.
  13. Hero, loyal? What do you mean? That’s a question, not an argument. I haven’t read much about this yet, but it is my understanding he got in a fight with a suspect and then accused his female training Officer of brutality, saying she kicked the guy in the face. Witnesses said that wasn’t how it happened and he got fired. I haven’t seen much more than that about the dismissal. He killed the daughter (and her fiancée) of the guy that represented him in his hearing; nothing the Father did could justify that. And they weren’t cops.
  14. Until I moved to Tennessee I didn’t know there are Northern and Southern batteries. Now I buy my batteries when I’m up North.
  15. From your post we have no idea why the Officers stopped your friend, but yes, they can disarm him and there isn’t anything that stops them from running the numbers. They don’t need probable cause to stop him, only reasonable suspicion. You are asking “Can they do that?” To have any kind of intelligent discussion about that we would have to know the exact circumstances of the stop. If they told him that he couldn’t have a round in the chamber; they were wrong. I don’t want stopped by the cops for anything. Since carrying a gun in Tennessee is a crime unless you are part of our special group; I don’t open carry to gain their attention.
  16. It’s like a divorce; there are no winners; both sides are going to think they got screwed.    Exactly, the current administration may not get what they want as far as banning guns; but they are going to get what they want as far as reasonable background checks.   I don’t have a problem with background checks, and I’ve even been denied. I would support new legislation if it means they stopped people with mental problems from getting a gun. However, that isn’t going to happen; neither side is going to support medical records being opened to the Feds. They need to be free though. If they can't find local FFL's that want to do it for free; put transfer stations in other government buildings. I also want serial numbers to continue to be checked. If my car is stolen cops watch for the car and license number, I want them doing the same thing if my gun is stolen. Background checks are supposed to work now, yet we have a gun dealer that the state pulled his HCP saying he was a potential threat to the community; and the Feds gave him an FFL. How can anyone take a background check seriously?
  17. Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD). Nothing has changed in over 50 years. Until the technology becomes available to stop our ballistic subs from being able to deliver their payload; no one will be launching any nuclear missiles.
  18. I agree it isn’t going to happen. When you have a gun series called “Military & Police” it wouldn’t make much sense to say we aren’t going to sell to Military and Police. But I still think civilian purchases eclipse LEO by a long shot.
  19. Those “incidents” are suspect at best. Phil Williams and News Channel 5 is trying to put Barrett out of business. If I was Ronnie Barrett and I could find any of those incidents where a “Barrett” was not used I would sue Phil Williams personally and Channel 5.   Some of those incidents say they “think” a Barrett was used. WTF do they think every .50 cal is a Barrett?   McMillian makes a .50, Bushmaster makes a .50, and Armalite makes a .50 bolt you could get for less than $3K prior to the ban talk.   What also bothers me about this is that we see our local news station trying to take down a respected manufacturer and we get all pizzed about it and start posting stuff here, Facebook page, and start writing letters; and that is exactly what they want. I’m sure they are standing around laughing about what they have accomplished by attacking Barrett. I hope by being singled out with no other company being mentioned; Barrett has some legal recourse.   And some of you think the gun manufactures in Illinois or New York would be welcomed here? They wouldn’t be able to tell it by that slanted one sided attack.
  20. Light up their Facebook page, a lot of people are and I don’t see any positive comments on the story. News Channel 5 WTVF has apparently forgotten where they are and what the people here support.   Boycott this station and watch your news on Channel 4 WSMV.
  21. He gets on there and tells what a great weapon this is and then says Ronnie Barrett refused to comment. What’s Ronnie Barrett supposed to say “Thanks for the advertisement”? Or “Thanks for the unprovoked attack on my company.   I’m disappointed that Channel 5 would allow Phil Williams to attack a company that supports our local economy with jobs and product, and our military with high quality weapons that help keep them alive.   We have to fight for any 2nd amendment rights, while this dirtbag hides from responsibility behind the 1st. If the investigative segment is so slow they need to attack a business owner and an icon in this industry… then it’s time to cut that segment from the news.
  22. “Cheryl, just a tragedy all the way around”…. WTF?   “The teen” sticks a gun in this guy’s face and him and his partner get shot. That’s how it is supposed to happen. Then the thug who lives is supposed to get charged with murder for the one that died, in addition to the armed robbery. I guess being on TV though they aren’t allowed to say “Well Cheryl, that certainly was good shooting on the part of the coach. Those are two thugs that won’t be killing or robbing anyone else. The streets are safer tonight."   The Mothers will be on TV blaming the lack of gun control for their criminal sons getting killed by their victim. Victims aren't supposed to have guns.
  23. If he thinks that is okay for the desktop on a school owned computer, I think he might have trouble finding the recruiting office. On a more serious note; Zero tolerance is out of control.
  24. Has it been on yet? I thought it was today?
  25. If they prove he was selling guns and not paying taxes they will. I would much rather get a visit from an ATF agent than an IRS agent.
