Co-worker says it's illegal to have more than 10,000$ on your person?
DaveTN replied to timcar86's topic in General Chat
When did that happen? My center console and glove box are both within my reach. A Police Officer can now search them with absolutely no PC? -
It’s too bad you have to work somewhere that such violence in the workplace is tolerated. You need a zero tolerance policy.

Finally heard back from Jim Cooper
DaveTN replied to KaNuckles's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
That isn't true. -
For the same reason Obama is President. We are not in control anymore. Those that support big government, handouts, and blaming others for their problems are united and they vote.

Smith & Wesson, Savage, Kahr, Troy Industries, and Yankee Hill are in Massachusetts. Connecticut has Colt, Marlin, Mossberg, Ruger and Stag Arms. Illinois has Springfield Armory, Rock River Arms, ArmaLite, and Lewis Machine and Tool. Kimber is in New York. I’m sure I’ve missed some, but are you going to boycott all these? That would be a dream come true for the anti-gun people; divide and conquer.
-
I’m just looking at it from a manufacturing stand point. We needed a bigger building and looked at a bigger building across town. Our company could not have survived the cost of moving machinery and loss in production. Luckily our owner was able to purchase the building we are in and we are expanding. If they can afford to open a facility in another state and slowly move production there; they might have a chance. But then any employees at the facility they have now that didn’t want to move would jump ship if they could. Even if they had the money to move it would be crazy from a business stand point with a possible ban on their product line. If I owned Magpul or was an employee I would be sick to think that pro-gun customers would turn on me. If that happens the anti-gun politicians get to put a check mark in the win column.
-
So you would rather bankrupt them with a boycott, or causes their prices to go through the roof because of a move? They are the victims here, right along with us. And don’t under estimate the enemy; they have some people willing to turn on manufacturers that are trying to support us. You don’t think they are having a good laugh?

True, but it’s like the gun haters taking every case they can find of armed citizens breaking the law or doing something stupid with guns; those stories aren’t hard to find. So should we all line up and call for the disarmament of citizens? Of course not. We get one side of a story, that may or may not have happened, and it turns into a cop bashing thread. As you know, I’m all for outing bad cops and have explained to some how to do it. But I also want to hear both sides before making a decision; that’s what reasonable people do. I would like to hear why the cops pulled them over. As far as that story saying they don’t know where those Officers were from; that would be pretty easy to find out. Is anyone going to try to find out? Probably not, getting pulled over for a MJ leaf makes a much better story. The MJ leaf may have simply been small talk; we don’t know.

You are correct; seizing money without cause is done every day. I am all for it if there is a pending criminal investigation or arrest. But this should have a time limit and if no charges are filed they money should be returned, in full, to the owner. If the owner can’t give what investigators think is a good explanation; that is a matter for the IRS. Those guys are as good at taking down drug dealers as drug cops. To me, it says something about the Chief or Sherriff, the DA’s office, and the state legislators that allow it. The two Chiefs I worked under didn’t allow it without an arrest or approval of the Chief of D’s for an on-going investigation. Many cops now ask people if they have guns, drugs, or cash on them. Drugs are illegal, guns may or may not be illegal, but cash is not. It is none of their business unless they have probable cause to arrest you for something. -
I feel for Magpul. Being in manufacturing I know you don’t just up and move a plastic injection molding company; it would be a tremendous expense. Between this and NY It seems the gun haters may have a new plan; get us to turn on the companies in our own community. Boycotting gun companies because of gun laws would be ridiculous and playing right into the hands of those that would like to see those companies gone. Don’t fall for it.

American-Made Scope Recommendations.
DaveTN replied to Ted S.'s topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
In that price range I would stick with Leupold. I have a couple of Leupolds and they are excellent. I went up North to shoot one of my new bolt action rifles a couple of months ago and had a cheap scope that had good reviews. I was so pizzed… I wasted my time and money. For target shooting (beyond 300 yards) you need magnification. You can get a VX-2, 6-18x40 for around $500 or a VX-3, 6.5-20-40 for around $700. If you hunt you might want to go VX-I, 3-9X40 for around $200 I too buy American when I have that choice. I’m pretty sure NightForce is American also, but I think they start around $1300. In 2010 I was interested in Vortex. I had read several posts that stated they were American Made; so I emailed them and ask. This is what they replied with then. “We fully understand your feelings on this subject and are striving to provide a few made in the USA riflescopes with in the next couple of years, but like the rest of the made in the USA scopes out there they will be high dollar (est. $1500-$3000) ." -
NUGENT: GOP 'HAS LOST THEIR SCROTUM,' DEMOCRATS 'RUTHLESS'
DaveTN replied to mcurrier's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
He couldn’t get elected. I’m not sure any conservative, or even any Republican could. Those that don’t want to work, want a handout from the government, support gun control and unlimited immigration; are unfortunately becoming the majority voting. Our nation is in distress. -
Exactly. It’s easy to say you won’t sell guns to NY LE or other states that pass gun laws; when you don’t sell guns to LE anyway. I’m not saying it’s not a good thing, but if S&W, Colt and Glock refused to sell to them; they would get the guns anyway. All it would do is damage the gun companies that actually sell guns to them. Does anyone think for one second this would cause Cuomo/Bloomberg or any other state to back down? Of course it wouldn’t. And would private buyers pick up the slack if they did participate? Of course they wouldn’t.

Sure, some schools have problems, but that’s life. Home schooling should be illegal; you owe your kids more than that.

Thank you for helping our economy, and helping make sure we get to keep making guns here. After you get some glass on that we will be looking for a range report.

Professional curiosity and man power. I think San Bernardino SO was in charge. -
I did not get that memo.

Former LAPD officer subject of manhunt.
DaveTN replied to Chucktshoes's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
He was running from Police when he entered the cabin and had no one with him. The Police were in contact with the owners of the cabin and they told them there should be no one inside. They also have the ability to see the heat source of a person from the outside. -

Exactly. So what if they burned the cabin. This guy was an active shooter; bought and paid for. He could have surrendered at any time, he choose not to. HE wanted to die and they made that happen. I don’t care if they intentionally set the cabin on fire or dropped Napalm on it. If an active shooter is using something for cover and you can set it on fire; why would you not do that? -

They say he’s holed up in a cabin exchanging gun fire. Unless they believe there are innocent victims in the cabin its’ about to be over. -

DaveTN replied to Chucktshoes's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
It says a lot about him that he thinks changing his legacy from dishonest ex-cop to a delusional sociopath that killed innocent victims somehow clears his name. LAPD is not going to clear his name; they can’t. A review board is not like a trial where previous bad acts aren’t allowed to be brought in; its cumulative. He should have been fired over attacking the two Officers, but because it was a race issue, I guess they saw some justification in letting it slide. But when they put everything together; it was too much. As far as cops not taking him alive; he did that. Have you read his “manifesto He says he will kill any cops that approach him. Unless this guy turns himself into an attorney for surrender; I doubt he will survive and encounter with cops anywhere. I doubt he can follow orders during a stop without doing something stupid, and then he will be shot. -

DaveTN replied to Chucktshoes's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Just like you would, I’m sure they have retained lawyers to represent them. There will be a shooting review board, and then the DA will decide if any charges are filed. Once the shooting review board makes its decision we may know more. Both victims are alive to testify; I doubt there will be much of a cover-up.
