  1. Having children and guns available for use is a tremendous responsibility; I know I had to do it when my kids were little. Allowing kids access to loaded guns is reckless.   I take exception to the story about the Deputy that said “He took all the precautions, he's a trained law enforcement officer, trains with weapons all the time." He didn’t take all the precautions. I don’t know why he needed to take off his gun to show someone else a gun in the safe, but if you are doing that; you clear it.     It’s terrible that the woman had to die and that this kid and the Deputy will have to live with this. But this was not an accidental discharge; it was negligent.   When I was a cop our instructors told us that no one likes to talk about the mistakes good Officers made who were killed in the line of duty. But they said they were going to talk about them so we didn’t make the same mistakes. This gun owner made a mistake and it cost a life. All this talk about its okay to have loaded guns accessible to small children and expecting them to be “trained” is ridiculous. It’s reckless; hopefully some will learn from this tragedy.
  2. The Feds can ban private gun sales, but it won’t hold up in a court challenge. Private gun sales are controlled by the states, most states won’t accept the Feds stepping in, even states that have strict gun laws.   They can control interstate transactions, and they can control shipping; even intrastate. The “internet” is a new spin. I guess they could try that as interstate commerce.
  3. We are getting some new gun shops in the MidState that have good prices and good inventory; you would think these dealers would want to sell product. We don’t have any in Murfreesboro yet, but I have a feeling we are due.
  4. As I watched that video I wondered what the message was since they were saying the problem is irreversible. The message is in the last 30 seconds. They want you to accept the Muslims, and they try to use a bible verse to justify it. Those Americans pushing Muslim propaganda should be ashamed. This is a very good reason not to give up our arms. We could be fighting this battle on our own soil.
  5. I can’t remember the last time I went into a bar and didn’t drink. So I don’t even have to check for signs.
  6. Any older model GM or Ford will be as easy to work on as anything and parts availability is excellent.
  7. I need my wood trim on my brick house painted, some repair work, and new gutters. I have talked to people that will do the trim work, but not the gutters or the other way around. I am only interested in people that are insured and have references on their work that I can go look at. If you know of someone or have had work done you are happy with; please shoot me a PM with their info. Thanks, Dave
  8. He can start here.... They have called me about several jobs. Headhunters are the way to go. http://www.aerotek.com/locations/united-states/tennessee.aspx
  9. This lady has been helpful to many members here in getting special problems or issues solved quickly.   Lisa Knight, Assistant Director 1150 Foster Avenue Nashville, TN 37243 (615) 251-8590
  10. That says something right there. They were shocked that their little juvenile delinquent was charged with shooting into passing vehicles? Two cars were shot into; that’s not an accident.
  11. In the states that use assault/battery wording, assault generally is words or threats where battery is contact. Aggravated assault would be threatening someone with a gun; aggravated battery would be shooting them with it, or in some states committing a battery while armed with a deadly weapon.   As best I can tell Tennessee doesn’t use the term “battery”. Both threat’s and contact are “assaults” There are progressing levels of assault depending on the threat or the damage. Punching your neighbor could be misdemeanor assault, while punching him and then breaking his arm could be felony assault. Threatening someone with a gun when you are not justified would be felony assault.
  12. Why do they need to get a good price at all? ATK runs Lake City for the Federal Government. If they just have it made there they get it for cost.   BTW… Lake City is the main producers for our military…. Our military that is at war. Lake City produces 1.4 billion rounds of small arms ammo a year. That story says the Feds are ordering 1.6 billion.
  13. Criminal Intent and state of mind.   I don’t know how they work it there, but where I was we couldn’t charge anyone with murder or attempted murder; only the DA could. (That wasn’t the law; it was just the policy) If you shot someone we charged aggravated battery. You couldn’t bond without going before a Judge. The DA would decide if he wanted to charge murder/ attempted murder/aggravated Battery.   Throwing a punch in this state is assault, a misdemeanor. Aggravated assault involves weapons or serious bodily injury.   I think in this state the charge of aggravated assault can carry as much time as attempted murder, but I’m not sure.
  14. Velocity is only one point on my ballistics triangle. The other two are Mass and Surface Area. Physics/ballistics tells me that this would be as worthless as frangible ammo for self-defense.
  15. He may be delusional, but contributing a lower crime rate to higher Police presence (a given), and no mention of guns or gun legislation is not a bad thing.
  16. If your decision was based on Military service, would it matter if the “Mall Cop” was a Vietnam Veteran that had a brother KIA?   I think the mall did the right thing. They apologized and made it clear he could be there without calling anyone a liar.   The spin the media is putting on this story is ridiculous.
  17. I don’t have one here. But I know the difference in a good shoot and a bad one. I have attorneys in another state I can call at any hour if I find myself in a bad shoot. Cops at the scene will be making decisions that will impact my future; they will be making those decisions with my input.   However, don’t trust your future and possibly your freedom to what people tell you on an internet forum. If you think you are going to invoke your right to remain silent until talking with an attorney; make sure you know an attorney you can contact.   An instructor that tells you to wait 15 or 20 minutes before calling 911 is an idiot.   Even if you have to pull a gun and don’t have to shoot anyone; call 911 right then and wait on an Officer.
  18. It’s not a Police State; it’s the will of the American people. Yes, the President s doing everything he can to destroy our country, but he is doing it with the support of the majority of the population.
  19. We have bigger problems than worrying about a “Police State”. Illegals are being given amnesty, letting them vote is next, drugs are being legalized, patriots are few and far between, moral decay is accepted. Many people will be wanting/needing more Police in the very near future.
  20. That's how the rest of the world is going to see it.
  21. Neither side could win in a war between the U.S. and China. Everyone in the world would have to pick sides. We would be back to MAD…. No winners, only losers.
  22. Zimmerman is trying to argue self-defense even though he started the conflict; we will have to see how that ends for him. This guy can’t make that argument.  The danger was over and he fired as they were leaving.   Guns are carried as a defense for an unprovoked attacked on an innocent person. If you let your mouth overload your azz and then try to use a gun to get out of it; you should go to prison.
  23. China will not take action against us. I expect it will be China that ends this non-sense before any missiles are launched. I would also guess that China and U.S. leaders are having talks right now.
  24. I’m sure our AEGIS class ships are in the area and prepared to knock down whatever NK launches.   The threat of nuclear war is ridiculous. They may well try to launch a nuke, but we don’t need nukes to neutralize NK; and won’t use them.   The problem (and loss of American lives) will come if there is hand wringing on the part of Obama in the event of an act of war.   Have our bombers deliver a few MOAB’s to NK’s top leaders; and it’s over.  You would think after Korea, Vietnam, and Afghanistan our leaders would learn.  Use the technology we have developed and end these threats with extreme prejudice.
