That’s pretty bizarre. If I kill someone hopefully I would be acting on a conscious choice and not on some out of control fear. You think there will be a mall shooting where a citizen shoots an active shooter and the cops for some reason will say the citizen was in the wrong? Why would they do that and what about all the video? You think all the cops at the scene and all the investigators would put their careers on the line by lying about something they have absolutely no reason to lie about? I guess if I could believe that I would stay out of it also. You could apply your “Crazy Cop†to any scenario you could dream up. Why carry a gun at all if you think using it will lead to cops throwing you in jail whether you were justified or not? The question was… you are pinned down by a mall shooter would you be allowed to take the shot? The answer is yes. Whether it was the cops or you that was pinned down; I would not run away or fail to act. That might be because I am secure in the fact I know the laws. Would I do something stupid enough to make the cops think I was a second shooter? No, it’s called situational awareness.

No, if you could any citizen that is assaulted could sue the state. The state of Tennessee is who is keeping citizens from having a gun in their car. We are a special group that bought the privilege; not hardly a right.

29% Think Armed Revolution Needed
DaveTN replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Besides a lot of emotion there seems to be a lot of misunderstanding of who said what. There are some people that are implying they will take up arms against Americans; yet when called on it they back pedal and say that isn’t what they said. Others are being blamed for saying they want to start shooting when that isn’t what they said at all. They said they (and I think most American Patriots) will not stand by and watch our government (no matter how bad it is) be taken over by force and will recognize no group that tries to do so. I understand this is just discussion because my feelings are any group, no matter how big, that thinks they can go toe to toe with the U.S. Military and local Law Enforcement is delusional anyway. We all understand you are pizzed off at Obama and his crew; so are we. But we will not allow anyone to destroy our country because they think Obama may destroy it. Obama is in his last term…. Period. He can’t appoint himself anything and he can’t do away with term limits. We live in a two party country. That is a fact. Get on one side or the other Republican or Democrat and get the next person ready to be elected. If you are a Democrat, you need do nothing; you folks are united. If you oppose the Democratic Party and what they stand for you better help find a Republican that you can get behind and knock off all this third party non-sense. If you don’t it will be Clinton, Biden Cuomo, or whatever other anti-gun jerk they can come up with. Then we will more than likely deal with 8 years of that. But threaten people with guns won’t get you anywhere but dead or in prison. -
Who are you?

Have any of you advocating the overthrow of our government by force watch the documentaries on HBO called VICE? Watch the first segment about the Philippines if you want to see what elections would be like in your world. This isn’t TV or fictional movies and books; it’s the real deal. -

When you put people that are advocating an armed overthrow of our government on notice that they will not be successful because they do not have the support of the American people; you are protecting the Constitution and more importantly our nation. But all this is really silliness just for discussion anyway. Someone feels that someone doesn’t interpret the Constitution the same way they do; and they are ready to stand against the mightiest military on earth. Yea right…. On the internet maybe. -

I had to laugh, I was running through the channels tonight and Bill Maher was saying that 44% of Republicans think an armed revolution might be necessary to protect liberties in the next few years. Lawrence O’Donnell said gun ownership is a minority activity. He said gun ownership is declining. He said gun sales are up because of fanatic collectors that have 48 guns when they used to have four. Do these guys make up this preposterous BS just to get people to watch their shows? I guess their target audience is too ignorant to question those statements. -

So since you don't like who was elected by the American people its time for an overthrow? What do you think the American people will be doing while you are busy with that? It matters more than someone theatening us because they have a gun. That has been proven time and time again. -

Okay, I’m with you. Where do we start? Give us some direction. How do we get the majority of the democrats, liberals, illegals, and those that want government handouts to switch over to our side? -

Those men didn’t try to overthrow the British government in Britain. If they had they would have just been killed. -

I’m the one throwing out those examples? The title of this thread is “29% Think Armed Revolution Neededâ€. What are we discussing? Are you implying that the mere presence of firearms while trying to overthrow our government will work out and no innocent people will be hurt? -

The government doesn’t control education; you have the freedom to send your children to any private school of your choice or even home school them. The Constitutionality of check points has been addressed by the SCOTUS under the system our founding fathers put in place. I have no problem with Fast & Furious; I thought that 69 Charger was bad azz. If you are talking about the guns going into Mexico, I have no problem with what those agents did. It’s being used by the anti-gun group and they seem to have found a way to bring some pro-gun folks over to their side. When and where you carry a gun is a right reserved for the state and that is the way it will stay unless you are suggesting the Feds be in charge of that. I own a lot of guns and I can carry just about everywhere I go. Do I fear someone knocking on my door to take my guns? No. Let me be perfectly clear; I in no way support some of the things this administration has done and I think Obama will go down in history as the worst President ever. But he was elected by the people...twice. The conservatives were weak and split. Not my choice, but I’m not going to stomp my feet and threaten a rebellion that would destroy my country because of it. Now you be clear. You seem to be getting your panties in a bunch when I say that some here seem to be suggesting a violent overthrow of our government. If that is not the case, and you are going to use the polls and the other forms we have available to us; we are on the same page. If you are suggesting that you are the minority, but that you will impose your ideas on others simply because you are armed; you will find out how very wrong you are. -

Wouldn’t it be nice if we became the 5th Constitutional carry state and all this would be moot? Not everyone can afford the privileges we buy. -

If “resistance†is murdering innocent people, bombing the public, and getting in firefights with Police then I think most people know how that will end. If I’m misunderstanding the example you are using please give me a better example of how “the government†will direct “maximum violence†towards innocent citizens. -

I think a lot of them are buying for protection even though they are not sure what form that will come in. We all are pretty sure “something†will happen. Most I talk to think that will be an economic collapse where they will have to protect their families and property from looters and criminals. I doubt many of them buy a gun because they see themselves taking on the U.S. military or their local LE. And of course there are many that have become unlicensed gun dealers that help cause the appearance of a gun shortage. -
Convicted violent and drug offenders shouldn’t have guns; that is pretty much the way it is now; especially in this state where there is no option to restore gun rights to those offenders. The mentally ill shouldn’t have access to guns. That’s kind of a no brainer, but the database or enforcement seems to be a stumbling block. I doubt most seriously mentally ill people have been adjudicated by a court.

These arguments and statistics are non-sense on both sides. Do guns laws impact crimes rates? No, look at the top 10 cities with the highest crime rates. You will see cities in states with strict gun laws and cities in states with liberal gun laws.

EBay was good years ago. Now it has been taken over by retailers. I’ve always thought one of the big companies like Google would start one up. Sorry, that has nothing to do with your question, just what I was thinking as I read this thread. I would think Craigs list would be a much more profitable way to sell yard sale stuff.

DaveTN replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Exactly my point. We have a way to make the changes most of us want. The problem is that we are the minority. The Democrats, those wanting handouts from the government, and those that want a “world Economy†are united at the polls. What do we have? A split between the parties and people voting for a person that has no possible chance of winning. We will get our azz kicked every time….unless we unite. -

Okay, and maybe I’m misunderstanding; if that is the case I apologize. It seems anytime anyone calls these guys on their implied threats of violence they back down and act like they are living at the foot of the cross. If it’s an issue of them using violence when illegal violence is used against them; then carry on and do what you have to do. But to think that Americans will stand around and do nothing while any group attempts to overthrow our government is preposterous. -
That’s what happened to the West Memphis Officers. Only their killers had better aim. Glad both of these Officers survived.

I’m not a slave; I’m a Patriot. There may not be enough of us to save our economy, but I think there are enough of us to stop our country from being destroyed by treasonous rebels who think threatening violence is somehow going to change anything. In your visions what do you see? How do you see this rebel takeover going down? And please explain how this would be good for any of us. "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it" The Confederate army was a far larger force than any rebel army that could me amassed today; and they lost. You can’t call yourself a freedom fighter or say you are supporting the Constitution and in the same breath want to destroy what it stands for. -

DaveTN replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Those poor misguided souls that see themselves as some kind of “freedom Fighters†should think about this… In the event you could find enough people to revolt; and you can’t. Martial law would go into effect. Have you thought about what that means? The Constitution would be put on hold. No 4th or 5th amendment rights, no probable cause, no right to a jury by your peers. Police Chiefs, Sherriff’s and even the State AG’s would answer to Military Commanders and the Department of Homeland Security. All Americans would have to pick a side. You think all these guns are being bought to aid you in your efforts to overthrow our government? You are delusional. Those guns are being bought by Americans that want to be armed so they can protect themselves and their families. If you attempt to overthrow our government by force you will find yourself looking down the barrel of those very guns; you will be the enemy. I do not agree with those that are in charge of our country right now or the beliefs of their party. But they were elected by the American people. I want my children and Grandchildren to have a chance at the same lifestyle I have had. So the choice of which side I will be on is pretty easy. We have a system in place for change. It may not be going the way you would like but you will not bully anyone into anything with the threat of violence. The same thing will happen to you that has happened to others that have decided to attack our country. -

Why do I (or anyone else) care whether the cops say they needed my help or not if I kill an active shooter in the mall? Is no one in immediate danger of death or great bodily harm? Is the mall empty and the guy is just cranking off rounds? Under what scenario in your mind are the Officers at the scene, the investigating Officers, and the DA going to turn on you? Why are you being charged, and what are you being charged with?
