I’ve been expecting it for years. Most people don’t the difference in a .05, .08, .10. What they should know is that if you have been drinking and are stopped or in an accident the chances are pretty high you will be arrested.

No one wants a civil war; it would be the end of our country as we know it. The problem is that the legislators don’t have a personal interest in some of this stuff. The citizens are the ones at risk. It’s a dangerous game. Take for instance the Tennessee Firearms Freedom Act. The state has said you can make, sell, and buy all the suppressors you want. Do you see any for sale without a transfer? No, because the Feds have said they will put in prison. Who will help you when you are in Federal custody? The state can’t keep the Feds off you. I believe I have a right to be armed. I believe that right is inalienable and does not come from the 2nd amendment. The courts do not agree with me. But I know with absolute certainty that I do not have a right to bear arms under the 2nd amendment in this state or most others. I believe in States’ Rights. That means the Feds can’t say that you can or can’t carry a gun in this state because they are not responsible for law enforcement in this state and I don’t want them to be. I understand that the South lost the war over States Rights, but they made sure no one wants to fight it again. Are the Feds going to march troops into any state to enforce laws? Not for gun laws they aren’t. The Feds control ALL licensed gun dealers. They can stop all legal gun manufacturers, distributors and dealers from moving any firearms into or out of this state. You think we have a gun and ammo shortage now, what do you think it would be if illegal gun traffickers were our only source of guns and ammo. If all states would unite on this? If all states would unite on this we wouldn’t be having this discussion; the 2nd amendment would be the law of the land. Gun carry will always be controlled by the states; it can’t happen any other way. I want my chicken chit legislators to quit threatening the Feds with non-sense that they don’t have the horse power to back up and make this a Constitutional carry state that recognizes the 2nd amendment as an individual right of the citizens of the state of Tennessee. I hate Obama, but he didn’t do this and he won’t get anything done. You want someone to blame? Blame your own home grown good ole boys at the capitol in Nashville; because if they make the decision that the 2nd amendment applies to you chances are the feds won’t do squat.

All you will get from anyone including an attorney is an opinion; unless there is case law. You live in a state where it is illegal for a citizen to carry a gun: an HCP is a defense to that charge; so it is always prosecutable. I gave you the statue number and someone else quoted the text. The Police Officer at the scene will decided if you are arrested and the DA will decide if you are charged. How and why the gun became an issue will be a bigger deciding factor in that than the license status. If it makes sense to you that we all could just get out of state non-resident permits instead of getting a TN HCP permit; then go with it. You asked the question of us if we think your plan is legitimate. Most have told you no. We discuss opinions on the laws a lot here; but you are the only one that will be held responsible for your acts.

You don’t have to guess about companies doing that. Google has pulled firearms links and eBay bans gun sales. That’s free enterprise and they have the right to do that even though we don’t agree with it. Constitutional issues to me would be the government banning smoking in businesses that want it, or state government forcing private property owners to allow guns on their property in a state where carrying a gun is a crime.

Lester, I’m discussing the legality of making guns. You seem to addressing the legality of transferring model files. There may be some legislation in the works that will attempt to ban the transfer of these files, but the only thing I have seen so far addresses files that were supposedly obtained from a government source. We manufacturer aerospace parts for some very big names. We sign non-disclosure agreements before they give us the models. It would be a violation for us to post those on the internet. If we manufactured lowers for S&W or Colt to their model specs and I posted those on the forum; it would be a violation. I have some models of gun parts that I have downloaded. I don’t have any reason to believe they are proprietary information; some of them are clearly made my amateurs as they don’t even maintain position to datum’s. Not something I would want to program machining from; but not illegal. I don’t have any firsthand knowledge of making sex toys in Alabama so I’ll leave that to you.

I’m pretty sure it was a personal attack directed specifically at me; but I’m not worked up over it. I’m not saying “comply or go to jail†I’m simply pointing out that you can legally make all the guns you want. Whether it is with a 3D printer or conventional machining. The Tennessee Firearms Freedom Act says he can make all the guns or suppressors he wants and sell them to Tennessee residents. We need a volunteer to test that. The Federal government is the one that’s says you can’t make firearms and start selling them without a manufacturing license. If he has a problem with that it has nothing to do with me, and I don’t think it justifies a tirade about where I am from or WAG’s about what I believe; do you?

http://blog.tenthamendmentcenter.com/2013/05/missouri-legislature-nullifies-all-federal-gun-control-measures-by-a-veto-proof-majority/ Here is some good info on what can/can’t happen. However, when they say there isn’t much the feds can do I think they are forgetting that manufacturers and FFL’s are licensed by the Feds; not the state. The Feds can and will pull the license of anyone violating federal law. Gun dealers without an FFL can’t get guns sent in or ship them across state lines. This is much like the states legalizing pot. They can do it and the Feds can arrest the sellers on federal charges. A gun start-up company could start making fully automatic guns or converting AR’s to M16’s for sale within the state (if the state doesn’t outlaw it), but the Feds would put them in prison. We have a watered down version of this under the Tennessee Firearms Freedom Act (except for fully automatic). We have had it for four years and it hasn’t been tested yet.

So because 39-17-1351 r3b, that addresses out of state permits, you think you are okay because it doesn’t use the words “Non-resident†for the permit issued by that state? Interesting, you may be right.
-
If by “here†you mean FL, yes he can carry on that permit. If a TN resident can carry on an out of state permit, why not just get one of the cheap “by mail†permits? Just because “K†has one doesn’t mean it’s legal. I guess we would find out if he is stopped by a cop that recognizes his name and knows that his carry privileges are revoked in TN.
-
When in FL you have to abide by FL laws. What stops you from getting an HCP here? You can’t use an out of state permit here if you are a Tennessee resident. When coming from out of state you have a certain amount of time to get a Tennessee HCP.

Wow, it’s a discussion. No need to turn it into a personal attack on me.

Someone thinks it’s funny to kill the auction. These are available on GB right now. Of course they are over MSRP, but they are there.
-
What about companies that have “No firearms†on the property at specific facilities because they have large tanks on the property that are explosive; like hexane tanks at soybean plants? What rights are involved when it’s a “safe commute†vs. the safety of a community?

Tennessee (and many other states) did it with the smoking laws. Many businesses lost money and some went out of business because of it. No compensation; just a thug government exercising their control over private business owners.

The legal system has control over those not willing to abandon their families by going to prison on weapons charges. I don’t see a problem here. You can legally make all the guns you want, a POS with a 3D printer, or the real deal if you have the skills and access to mills and lathes. You just can’t sell them or transfer them. Will people try? Yes, and as soon as they turn up in the wrong places the person will be in jail.

I bet he’s a Physicist at Oak Ridge labs making WMD’s and is afraid every time he goes out in the real world.

FB statement from Remington....
DaveTN replied to The Average Joe's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Good for Remington! As I posted in the other thread; I support Remington 100%. We are allies in this fight. To think a manufacturing facility that big can just up and move is ridiculous. However, they are building in other states. They may be in NY, but at least they are in the U.S. Once the U.S. companies are gone; imports can be banned with the stoke of a pen. -
A product that works as intended vs. one that doesn’t. A CNC mill is cost prohibitive for most people, a manual mill requires skills. The application of these is for rapid prototyping, although there will be people come up with all kinds of small plastic stuff they can make. Guns won’t be a big issue anywhere except in the media.

If the Muslims aren’t stepping up to take care of one of their own; there are ships going out to sea every day. Normally, I wouldn’t be concerned that a suggestion involving Arlington would even be considered; but with Obamas hatred for this country and everything American; who knows.

You would think all of that would have been settled in the divorce; especially with another woman involved. Guess they do things differently there.

A whole new level of civil disobedience....
DaveTN replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I have been to DC on the 4th of July to watch the fireworks. There were metal detectors set-up everywhere and no gun signs all over the place. Even if he can get armed people to march it will be a non-event other than a photo op. They will be stopped at the bridge. If they try to get by the cops; they will be arrested. I have already tried the civil disobedience thinking I would fight for my rights in court. They just threw me in jail; they will do the same to him. The problem he may have is that he just made the threat of violence if the Police try to stop them. -
Murfreesboro Police gun buyback this Saturday
DaveTN replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I doubt that. There would be absolutely no use in spending the taxpayer’s money by making a claim that you are taking guns off the street if you are going to turn around and sell them; putting them back on the street. I’d be interested to hear from the Murfreesboro Police Chief on this.
