Nevermind....

Your friend initiated a confrontation and then committed an assault. If the guys friends had got out of the truck and you had pulled a gun; you probably would have been arrested even if no one was shot. I’m surprised they didn’t call the cops and have him arrested. I don’t put myself in those kinds of situations when I’m armed and would be pizzed if a “friend†put me in one. It’s a good thing you have the right state of mind; many don’t.

Well… they took his guns, but did they get the dog to safety?

I think you mean Edward, Richard has been dead for a long time.

Production lines are cranking everywhere. You will soon have competition on guns and ammo again.

Nikon Monarch-3-12x42 Vortex Viper-4-12x40 PA Burris C4-4.5-12x42 SF Minox-Z5-3-15x42 Of course those scopes are in the price range of the Leupold VX3, 4.5-14X40 which would slide right into the #1 position.

Tell me this isn't payola- The IRS giving bonuses
DaveTN replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
If they were negotiated the government has to pay them. I’m curious as to why the IRS would pay bonuses to union workers, and for what? And why are they furloughing people if they have 70$M to throw around. And I’m not calling government workers useless. I was a cop in a union. If we had gotten bonuses people would go nuts. Do your job; if you want extra money work overtime. -
Alleged 2A Heckler Disrupts Anti-Gun Rally; Assaults Police
DaveTN replied to gun sane's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
That’s exactly the kind of ignorant SOB you hope never shows up at any kind of gun rally. -
That speaks volumes. If you believe it. So much for any thought process. Haven’t we heard this before from the hate groups? This teacher should be fired. However since this is a state college, if she has tenure it would be also impossible to do. The right to bear arms is a right enumerated in the United States Constitution. Being gay is not. What would happen if a professor required their students to wear a pro 2nd amendment patch and write pro-gun papers? I think we all know the answer to that.

I’m not a cop I’m a former cop, haven’t been one in many years; I just support them in the same way I support those that serve in the military. If they do something wrong I’m one of the first to offer suggestions to people that don’t think they have recourse. It has happened; it happened here. The case in Lebanon where Officers had the wrong house and killed an old man when he pulled a gun. The surviving wife sued and won; but that doesn’t bring her husband back. I have long been a vocal opponent of Police Officers dressing in subdued “tactical†dress when serving these warrants. They are mistaken for home invaders because who they are is not immediately recognizable. Only one person is responsible for allowing it; the Chief or the Sherriff of the agency. It’s reckless. However, that is not the case of what happened in Boston. Best I could tell they were making contact at the door and then entering. I don’t know if they were given permission or not. I don’t see any attorneys jumping on any civil rights violation cases; but they may be yet to come. If they do a court will rule based on the circumstances. The 4th amendment contains the word “unreasonable†for a reason. The courts will rule if what they did was reasonable.

I’m just wondering about the civil liabilities no matter what the decision. I wouldn’t think an acquittal would be the same as the requirements to protect against civil action, but I have no idea what the Florida requirements are. Zimmerman has nothing for the family to get and probably never will. But movie and books rights are on the table; that would be a significant amount of money.

If you look at the stories about the lawsuit settled by the HOA, I think you will find your answers to the questions about neighborhood watch issue. It is my understanding he was not part of the national recognized neighborhood watch program, but was designated as the person to call after you called 911, by the HOA. I also agree it has no impact on this criminal case unless the defense tries to make the jury believe he had some kind of authority to act above any other resident or citizen.

You would certainly have the right to make a ruckus or file all the lawsuits you wanted. They would be heard in court and decisions made. But as I said before, for us to have an intelligent conversation about the issues we would need to know what happened at that door. Did the Officers ask for permission to search? I personally wouldn’t have pointed a rifle at these people while providing cover, but it’s not illegal. I have pointed a weapon a many people I have encountered on building searches or vehicle stops until I had determined who they were. It all depends on the circumstances. Any time you have Police action that makes the news you will have people that think they were wrong and people that think they were right. I haven’t seen any complainant’s come forward yet; so there is no action to take or no “side†to get on. Do people get guns pointed at them when cops are pursuing suspects; all the time. You, just like these people; would have recourse. What do you mean they had the “wrong†house? It was my understanding they were going door to door in the area he was last seen. Is that not what was happening? This city took a tragic hit. The Police responded to extraordinary circumstances. If you are wondering if the same could happen in your neighborhood while they look for an active shooter that had just set off bombs and killed a bunch of people…. Yes, it’s possible it could.

Why do you care? This is discussion forum on a deadly force issue and I am discussing the case. Do the personal attacks with you never get old? Some of us are discussing the case while you feel the need to address why we have the views we have. These are the hottest threads on this forum right now. I’m sure you would like to see those that have a view other than yours silenced; but I doubt that will happen. Of course not I have seen it happen more than once. Remove all statements by all investigators on either side and leave me with Zimmerman’s statements and the 911 call; and my opinions do not change. Do I think Zimmer is guilty of second degree murder? No, I believe his actions were reckless and led to the death of an innocent citizen. I think he is guilty of manslaughter. Does my opinion matter? Nope. Will you or anyone else get me to put my stamp of approval on Zimmerman murdering Martin? Not unless I see something come out of this trial that leads me to believe Zimmerman was justified in getting out of his truck and chasing that kid down. But none of that matters. Zimmerman will live or die because of his actions on that day; the verdict one way or the other won’t change that.

I have a large bi-fold to hold all my stuff. It has an ID window and a bunch of card slots. I got it at Wilson leather. It’s doesn’t have a chain, but I think they had some that do. I have had it for years and its held up very well.

If I misunderstood your response; I apologize. You and I clearly have different opinions on what happened that day. Clearly, what should happen is that the truth should come out and a jury should make a decision based on the evidence without any concern about race or what will happen after their verdict. Will that happen? Who knows. Am I clear that my opinion and the opinion of others that think Zimmerman’s reckless acts resulted in the death of an innocent person not popular on a gun forum… Crystal. I am color blind to this issue and have tried to stay out of the discussion about what will happen after the verdict other than to say I think Zimmerman is hosed no matter what the verdict. Do I think that’s right? No, and I am ashamed that law enforcement and the justice department has stood by silently and failed to act. Is that part of this issue race related? Yes, in my opinion it is. I try to discuss the issues and not make assumptions as to why the people are saying what they say. What Robert is trying to tell you is that I am a former Police Officer and that impacts my decisions and opinions. Is that true? Certainly it is. Just as your opinions as a defense attorney impacts your opinions. Do I think we can both make informed decisions; certainly. Do I think a person is innocent until proven guilty? As far as the court system goes; yes. Have I formed an opinion based on the information available to me? Sure, so have you. But I am not a potential juror and my opinion doesn’t matter anymore than yours. I could make a convincing legal argument for either side of this case based on the law. But as far as justice goes I would rather be a Prosecutor in this case.
