If the finish on the stock is flaking off it isn’t original anyway. I would refinish the stock and all the metal.

need advice on removing paint from a stainless gun
DaveTN replied to JoeJ615's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
If it’s stainless, use acetone or any other chemical that will remove the paint; you can’t hurt it. Keep the chemicals off any plastic or wood. If you know someone that has access to a glass bead blaster; use that, it would only take minutes. -
It’s the “Global Economy†theory. Bring everyone to the same level. Many people think it’s a good idea. I am not one of those people. Americans will wake up one day..... maybe before its too late.

Having the letter from Colt plus a personal letter from a Four-Star will push it beyond what the gun is worth. I see many on GB in the auctions that have ended. Of the highest priced ones, one is a presentation gun that has been listed several times at $14K and not sold, one is in worse shape than the one you are looking at, it has been listed many times at $5200 and not sold, another at $3500 and has not sold. I don’t see any that have the supporting paperwork of the one you are looking at. You never know, someone may put a value on that letter from Bell as high as the value on the letter from Colt. The highest I see for one that actually sold was $2600 for one with the original wood box and everything. There are bids on some of them in the $3500 range, but they did not meet reserve and the guns did not sell. I would guess with those letters the one you are looking at will make it over $5K. But that’s just a guess based on what I am seeing, I am no expert on old guns.

He doesn’t have a son anymore; Zimmerman shot him.

Drug dogs offend U.S. citizens that are dopers. Terrorists and criminals will try to stop anything that could result in their arrest.
-
As soon as you make it, patented or not, the Chinese will copy it and there will be a bunch of links on the gun forums for a “better priceâ€. We are our own worst enemy when it comes to the economy.

Accused Fort Hood shooter releases statement to Fox News
DaveTN replied to QuietDan's topic in General Chat
The victims’ families of 911 were paid over $2 mil each. Military personnel were awarded the Purple Heart and treated as combat injuries. Victims of the Ft. Hood attack struggle with medical treatment and bills while the shooter is still drawing a paycheck. How is what he has admitted he did any different than the terrorists in the 911 attack? -
I have an AR in .223, an AR in .308, a Rem 700 VLS in .308, a Mossberg MVP in .223, plus many others that have nothing to do with this conversation. If I’m picking only one gun I must first decide on the caliber. That’s hands down .308 Winchester. My 308 VLS, nice as it is; is still just a bolt gun. That’s leaves a 308 AR. It fills all roles, Hunting, target shooting, home defense, and combat rifle. Far less felt recoil than 308 bolt, not much more than a .223. You won’t find one for $800, but once the latest panic dies down you can one in the $1200 range.

They have clean up services that do that. If you blast a criminal all over the inside of your house; come on here and ask for donations to help pay for the cleanup.

Got something I have been wanting for a very long time
DaveTN replied to vontar's topic in Show and Tell
That's all that matters. I was just wondering if they had settled down yet. What's the going rate for .22mag ammo and is it available? -
We also have state law on it. It doesn’t address the collapsible stock issue, so you would need clarification on that also. Since it isn’t stated in the law you run the risk of arrest and trial if it is less than 26†collapsed.

MSRP is $415, are the prices on that gun still inflated? -

Killed 13 and injured 30. They have a confession. Show him no mercy, execute him and move on. -
Zimmerman thanks you and would like you to send more “gun moneyâ€. http://www.businessinsider.com/lawyer-i-hope-george-zimmerman-has-the-money-to-pay-us-someday-2013-7 Mark O’Mara says he or Don West have not been paid a cent. So what happened to the $400K plus that has been raised for his defense fund?

Unless there was a possibility of the car catching on fire or some other threat, I tried to get the people to remain in the position they were in until the professionals arrived. We automatically had an ambulance and the Fire Department, as well as a backup (mainly for traffic control) dispatched at the same time we were to all accidents that came in as personal injury accidents. Thankfully since I was in a large city if they weren’t there when I got there; it was usually only a few minutes. We had basic first aid training but were not EMT’s, those people were sent. About the only first aid I ever had to do was keep a person from moving, apply pressure to a massive bleed, or on a couple of occasions administer CPR (they both died). I have handled accidents were I knew an injured driver was drunk and was going to be arrested. I did not handcuff them if they were being cooperative. I advised the dispatcher to send an officer to the hospital and notify hospital security they were not free to leave. I have also had people try to drive away or become combative. I used whatever force it took to stop them from trying to move a vehicle, or whatever force was required to stop their resisting. That has included pulling them from vehicles and handcuffing them. A moving vehicle can become a deadly weapon at an accident scene. I’ve also had to forcefully restrain people in accidents that weren’t drunk, but were trying to move other victims in their vehicle. Every incident is different and how it is handled is determined by the circumstances at that very moment. Being in a traffic accident is a traumatic experience and I have seen people flip out that were not drunk; especially in bad accidents where family members are severely injured or killed. I hated working a traffic car but it was something we had to do until we had enough seniority to get our own district car. I have been in shootings and many brutal fights as a cop, but the only nightmares I have had about the job have come from traffic accidents.

Robert, No one is trying to change your mind. If you think the cops need to be fired, so be it; we get that. But you keep making arguments that the video and the woman’s own statements in the news interview do not support. We get it that you were a volunteer EMT and that you are focused on the medical aspects of the situation. I would expect no less of a Doctor or a Nurse. But cops have different priorities at accident scenes. Highest priority; make the scene safe. As I said before that comes before medical treatment. Part of making the scene safe in this situation was removing the driver from physical control of the vehicle. The woman was not unconscious; she said herself that she was conscious, but she was so disoriented that she couldn’t figure out how to open the door. The Officer said she was attempting to move the car. As someone else said when you hear hoof beats think horses; not zebras. It is unfortunate that this woman was having a reaction that made her appear drunk; but it is what it is. I’m sure that if any of those cops thought the woman was injured they would have used due care. I’m guessing that there was nothing to suggest that. Was it necessary to leave her on the pavement? No, that’s why they got her up. No one is suggesting that these cops get a commendation for their actions or that it could not have been handled better, but calling them idiots and saying they should be fired is not reasonable either. This woman, like all citizens that feel they have been wronged by the cops; has recourse. She can make a formal complaint and she has civil court available to her. I’m guessing it doesn’t go that far.

Options for IWB M&P .40 (full size)
DaveTN replied to rugerla1's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I have both the D.M. Bullard and the Supertuck for my M&P compact. I hate Kydex and try to stick with leather holsters. I think the D.M. Bullard is far superior than the Crossbreed, but of course it costs about twice as much. However, it gets used and the crossbreed does not. The holster that gets used most of the time for my full size is a Don Hume, but it is an OWB thumb break not an IWB. The Don Hume and the supertuck have an open end so I can use either my compact or Fullsize, the D.M. Bullard is closed and I can only use my compact in it. -
That’s non-sense; you don’t leave a drunk in physical control of a vehicle. They either get out of the vehicle or they are physically removed.
-
That’s kinda what I thought may have been happening; hence my statement about turning the vehicle off and making the scene safe.

Interesting commentary on the decline toward police state
DaveTN replied to Jonnin's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I worked at night; I wasn’t getting overtime. When we did a raid it wasn’t announced ahead of time to see if anyone wanted to do it, we pulled from the Officers we had working and did it. Street cops, no dressing out, no subdued uniforms, just the uniform and the gear we wore every night.
