Maybe one of the TN cops has already commented and I missed it, but what kind of discretion do you have? When I started as a cop we had discretion on all misdemeanors. I saw discretion removed on two misdemeanors while I was there; DUI and Domestic Violence. But we also couldn’t cuff someone unless they were under arrest and if we cuffed them we couldn’t release them without Command approval. Obviously from what I see today that is not the case anymore. We didn’t have discretion on felonies; only the DA could dismiss that. Which also really has nothing to do with what this guy is accused of.

If he subpoenas an agent; they will be there. I’m pretty sure there will be at least one there anyway for the Prosecution, if this even goes to trial. I’m surprised the state hasn’t asked for a mental health evaluation. Maybe they are waiting until the Grand Jury makes it decision.

He refused to show the documentation. He’s making an argument that he doesn’t have to show it to cops; only IRS or BATF. I would guess it will boil down to whether or not he has so show it on demand. We will see.

We were having that conversation at work. It’s a crime to carry a gun in this state. If you were escaping a state that doesn’t recognize the 2nd amendment as a right, would you pay to move to another one? We really need to quit playing games with worthless gun legislation and become a Constitutional carry state.

I only buy American made guns. Having them not only in my country but in my state would be an added bonus.

I agree. The ammo producers are running wide open. I don’t think most have added equipment because they know the demand will settle down. Prices won’t stay high if ammo is sitting on the selves.   However, shooting is an expensive hobby for those that do more than just have their guns lying around the house. I don’t think small prices differences will cause anyone to lose interest. But if they do; I don’t see that as a threat to any Rights/Privileges I may have.   This is a free market at work; there is no one behind the curtain.

Interesting…. Rick Scott having an elected Official arrested. I would think he would want to get out in front of this.   They are saying he altered or removed arrest records and ordered corrections Officers to release the guy after he was in jail.

Frivolous crap is how you catch people with drugs, warrants and revoked licenses. You said it yourself; you are being profiled because of your car. Time to trade. Could be worse; they could be writing you every time they stop you to look in your car.

What are you going to do with it? I’m asking because I’m confused as to why you would want to spend $1600 on a compact scope limited to 10X when you can get a Leupold, Zeiss, or Nikon with more magnification that can do 1000 yards and costs less.

Politicians and the anti’s have quit talking about “Gun Control” and have changed the term to “Illegal Guns”. WTF is an illegal gun? Even fully automatic weapons are legal if you pay the tax. We already have laws that make it a crime to steal a gun. Many states even have laws specifically addressing firearm theft.   They don’t want to address “illegal guns” they want to ban guns from all people; both law abiding citizens and criminals. If someone wants a gun to go commit armed robberies they aren’t going to care how they get it. If they can’t buy it they will break into houses until they find one to steal.   “Gun crime” is just crime. How is an armed robbery at gun point any worse than at knife point, or even a brutal physical attack?   Suicide is suicide. Why would it make a difference if a person used a gun, shut the garage door and started the car, or hung themselves?   Sandy hook and the movie theater shootings were not “illegal guns” or even guns that were obtained illegally.

Thanks for your service. Carlos Hathcock also used the Winchester Model 70. I have never owned one, but to me that speaks volumes about the accuracy and reliability of it.

I’ll ask this here since all you old people are here; I keep forgetting to check this out. I remember a few years back Tennessee had a vote that property taxes could be frozen for old folks; it passed. So I assume I have to apply somewhere for that?

I doubt this will be a precedent setting case (although in this day and age you never know). I just thought when I read that the cop had killed their family member there may be more to the story than the press is reporting.(Sounds impossible huh?) It could be that the cop and his attorney were reacting to information they had, or it could be that two dumbazzes met up and came up with this plan.

My point was that he may have simply sought legal advice. Do you know how clearly you would be thinking if you were a cop that had just taken a life?

Did he? The Deputy killed a guy and at least one family member was saying the cops murdered him. I would have been contacting an attorney; wouldn’t you have? (If you weren’t one)

Frivolous lawsuits are made against the Police every day; this goes the other way. One of the family members was saying the shooting did not go down the way the cops said, and said they murdered his family member. This may just be a preemptive legal strike?
