He was criminal that opened fire on cops. It was the next day; he had been given many hours to surrender. How long do think they should have baby sat him?
-
It wouldn’t be a bad thing. The economy would get better; manufacturer’s here would be able to employ more people; people could buy stuff made here; unemployment rates would drop, crime rates would drop, housing market would pick back up, it would be a good thing.

Yep, he should have turned Harris and Weaver off like switch; then Vicki wouldn’t have had to die. Can’t disagree with that either. The justice department turned their back on the people that did their job.
-
It requires protectionism; some here think that’s a bad word.

Vicki Weaver is dead because of Randy weaver and Kevin Harris. The first shot Horiuchi took hit Weaver; the 2nd went through Harris and killed Vicki Weaver, he hit both his targets on the run. I’m not upset they hired Houriuchi’s spotter. Weaver and Harris should be in prison for murder.

I can’t believe we agree on something, but you are correct. Health care, OSHA, EPA, 401k’s, workman’s comp, unemployment, etc., etc., are things those overseas workers don’t have. But what do you want to do away with? Businesses shouldn’t pay taxes and communities that want them there should give them free land. Of course you realize that government would never cut back. If taxes were removed from business they would be placed on homeowners property taxes.

When I read the stats I thought the 30% figure was low. Of the fatal traffic accidents I handled or responded to I would say the number caused by drunk drivers was closer to 60%. However, I was in a city and figured the rates on the interstates would be much lower, so maybe that brought it down. But the numbers you are citing are ridiculous. As I said though, not that it matters; I don’t think 1700 or 10K is okay when proactive Police work can bring them down.

It’s already taxed at 20 times the tax on a gallon of gas and 7 times the tax on a pack of cigarettes.

I don’t this for sure but I would guess that if your pool is open to the public you would require some type of permit that would allow some government inspection. Even if it’s not open to the public I know a pool has a lot of potential civil liability.

They are outlawed. Carrying a gun in this state is a crime. We (HCP holders) are part of a special group that the state has deemed safe to carry. Oh yea, and we gave them a bunch of money.

You can be charged with DUI without a field sobriety test if you can’t complete it. You have the right to a blood draw but you will probably be under arrest already at that point. There is more involved than just a field sobriety test. You aren’t going to be arrested because you can’t do a balancing act or say the alphabet backwards.
-
No, it’s because the state claims the right to control vehicle traffic and licensing. They do not recognize a right to drive. Same way they do not recognize the 2nd amendment and will arrest you for carrying a gun unless you buy the privilege. Not if you are drunk and someone thinks you are a danger; 39-17-310 covers that. I made the same argument when I carried a gun in my car in Illinois and got arrested. I was wrong; they took me to jail anyway. I’m focusing on the amendment as a whole and its intent. I can read and it doesn’t say warrants are required.

Did I miss how did you get from 10K to 1700? Although it really doesn’t matter. You aren’t trading any freedoms; has someone ask you to voluntarily drive through a roadblock? Probably not, and if you find yourself in one you will do whatever the law allows. Or, refuse to comply; then you haven’t traded anything. What about the freedom to take your family on a trip without being killed by a drunk driver? Law enforcement doesn’t have a legal responsibility to keep you safe, but they have a responsibility to do all they can. That’s what they are doing and the public agrees with it.

In 40 years of buying S&W handguns (easily over 100) I have had to send in 2. Shipping was paid both ways and they were promptly returned. They could do like Glock and deny any problem or call it an “Upgrade Programâ€.

You can still by the most important things in life (Guns, Cars, Motorcycles and liquor ) made in the USA. Although cars is getting pretty hard to find.

These are 100% made in the USA by American workers. (Except for the .22) http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Category4_750001_750051_757955_-1_757781_757781_image

I quit shooting shotguns; I don’t have an application for one anymore. I have tried to find anyone using a Blackhawk Axiom on a 308 bolt; they look interesting. But no luck yet.

Nope.

You can carry a handgun on you or anywhere in your car with an HCP. Without it’s a crime.

Buds has Bushmasters for $699 and they have been in stock for several days that I know of. So I would say things are getting better. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/69657/Bushmaster+CAR15+223+16+BSH+REDDOT

When the driver denies any knowledge of it; it’s drug money. (Common sense) Its reasonable suspicion. Trying to protect drug dealers will never stop the seizure of money. If someone has a quarter million in small bills of cash in bricks inside hidden compartments; they are involved in illegal activities. The money can be seized and an investigation started. If in a reasonable period of time no case can be made the drug dealer gets his money back. I’m talking about the guy that has $20K in his pocket because he’s going to buy a car or on a trip. No reason to take that without something to support it.
-
No one is saying it means anything…. Other than you must comply; it’s a violation of the law if you don’t. I quoted you the law did you read it? Implied consent means they can take your license if you refuse to submit to a DUI test; whether you are convicted of DUI or not. Refusal is a violation of the law separate from the DUI. Are they going to strap you down in a chair and take your blood? Not on your first DUI they won’t, unless it involves a fatality or serious injury. On the second they will. They need PC to administer a field sobriety test. They get that PC when they walk up to the car and you look drunk or are acting like an idiot.
-
Well… you are talking about two different things here. If they are taking bricks of money out of hidden compartments; its drug money, pure and simple. Are the drivers claiming ownership of the money and explaining why it is hidden? No, they are probably saying they have no idea how it got there. That’s quite a leap from taking vacation money from a woman or from someone buying a car.

I bet most of those mags are going to PD large purchases. That firearm is rocking the LEO duty market. Couldn’t get it straight from the S&W site?

Armed robbery by a Police Officer will always give cops a bad name. As a former cop I’m simply amazed that this is allowed to happen in Tennessee (if it is) as it’s pretty easy to bust bad cops. If it’s going into the cops pocket it’s a very simple investigation that will put the cop in prison. If it’s a Chief, Sherriff, or DA that is allowing it; they need to answer for it. If its procedural and the public doesn’t agree with it; change the procedure or vote them out of office if they are elected. If it’s criminal; call in another agency to do the investigation and charge them. Unless a cop is initiating a criminal investigation there should be not authorization for them to take money from people. Yes, those things give cops a bad name. But those things go much higher up the chain than a patrol Officer. Hold those people responsible. The media should be talking to the head of the agency’s (PD’s, DA’s, and Courts) that is putting their stamp of approval on theft and find out why. As I say those investigations are pretty simple and I understand it would take a LEO or AG with great big balls to go after some of these guys, but does Tennessee have no one like that?
