I was watching a show a couple of years ago where three vehicles were competing for the best Police Patrol Vehicle. They went though a bunch of tests, speed, handling, sealed from fumes, etc. But on one of the cars they pointed out that the back-seat compartment was all plastic. The doors could be opened, and it washed out with a hose. When I saw that; it would have had my vote right then!

After you do that, read about the HERO ACT.

You drive don't you?

If someone has a highly infectious medical condition that would threaten the lives of responding personnel; its not unreasonable to want to know that. Its not an STD; it’s the flu. Would you not want that if your kid was a paramedic, Fireman, or cop? A company a family member works at is telling employees when someone in the plant has had Coronavirus. They will tell them the general area they worked in, but not who they are. They claim it’s a HIPPA violation to do so. It appears that may not be true. I told them I think they are putting themselves at more risk of liability by playing legal games than by protecting their employees. If someone dies because they had been exposed to an infected person; I guess we will find out. As far as what I think first responders should be aware of? Things that put their lives at risk. But then, I am one who believes your rights end where mine begin. If your wife is calling for help because you are having a heart attack, the Paramedics have a right to know if someone in the house has this virus, if that information is available. The same holds true if she is calling the Police for help because you are beating her, or the Fire Department because there is smoke in the laundry room.

I don't have a problem with it. A Paramedics deserves to have that information when its available.

About 10 years ago I needed a new roof. MY BIL was there and I asked him what he thought it would cost, he said $15K. I said “Really, you think it will be that high?” One of the few times I have lucked out. While I was waiting on quotes, a storm came through and damaged the roof. Insurance paid for a new roof. It was exactly what my BIL had said. Now I need my trim painted (brick house) and new gutters put on. I can’t find anyone that will do both. I’ve had two different people that I told could paint it after they quoted it; neither showed up. So much for folks needing work.

Stormtroopers are the elite Marines of the Galactic Empire. You would have to be crazy not to use extreme caution when approaching one. Darth Vader could have very well been somewhere in the area, which would have been a disaster.

Fun Video Jerry Miculek is my favorite shooter of all time.

Correct. Talk of killing cops is ridiculous. Cops aren’t worried about that anyway, if they were they couldn’t do the job, and in most jurisdictions they won’t be going door to door collecting guns. Although Beto says that is want he wants to do. They will generally make arrests as they come upon them. Traffic stops, domestic violence calls, burglaries, etc., are all typical examples of where anything that is illegal becomes an issue.

Do you have a Smart TV? If you do, you don’t need a tablet unless you just want it to be portable. You aren’t looking for a tablet that has a phone line assigned to it, correct? All you need is either WiFi, or an ethernet connection to watch TV on a tablet or computer. EDIT: After looking it appears you can't use "WATCH TV" on a smart TV. (Who would have thought you might want to use it on a TV? ) So I assume this is just something you have in addition to your AT&T TV? Its also limited in what tablets and operating systems you can use. You better check before you buy anything.

My 597 is possibly the most accurate .22 I have ever shot. But I’ve never shot it past about 25 yards. I had issues with it when I got it 15 years ago. Remington sent me a new mag, that didn’t fix it, so I sent it in; still randomly had FTE issues. I read about issues with the bolt guide rails binding up. Now I thoroughly clean it completely after shooting, grease the guide rods and make sure they are properly torqued. Doing that I haven’t had anymore problems. I don’t usually use anything but CCI Mini-Mags in my rimfires. The thing I found unusual about this rifle is that Hollow points seem to give a tighter group than round nose. That doesn’t make sense, but that’s what I seemed to notice, without starting a full congressional investigation.

No, they are Trio Stealth's. But Best Buy has 16GB 7” Fires for $40 if you think that will do what you want.

Everything is application driven so it depends on what we are surviving. “Survival” to me implies some form of civil unrest. If “Survival” means traipsing around out in the wild, disregard my response; I will not be doing that. But none of those, an AR10 and a full-size M&P would be my choice. Rifle: The AR10 because it can do it all. From close quarter combat to 1000-yard shots. Handgun: The full-size M&P in either 40S&W or 9mm for quality and capacity. (.40S&W for me )

Keep an eye on Amazon and check the reviews. A couple of years ago my wife bought 5 cheap tablets that were on special for $50 each. I think most of them are still working. I had to replace my tablet with a small laptop. 32 or even 64GB won’t cut it anymore unless its just for a dedicated purpose like watching TV.

It will be tough to tell. I haven’t seen a graph anywhere for deaths by the day in Tennessee. I would think that would be the number that is least impacted by the number of tests. The number of tests and the availability of tests in increasing daily, so that’s not really a good number for comparison. You also have too many people involved that want to manipulate the numbers. Like anything, some want them to show more, some want to show less. Finding impartial information is hard. I’ve also heard that hospitals are being pressured to report deaths as Coronavirus if they can tie it to it in any way. I don’t know if that’s true or just more fake news.

Why not? I would think it would be a great way to learn. When I first started shooting PPC I wasn’t an expert. You can read all you want, but when you see your team leader pull an off the shelf duty gun from his holster and drill the center out of a target; it makes you pay attention and learn.

They aren’t replacing the .308 with it, they are replacing the .300 WinMag. The 6.5 creedmoor does not out perform either of those. Just another way for the military to waste money. It certainly won’t eat the 308’s market share in the civilian market.

If you are going to put a can on it, you don’t need to spend $2K. Buy a $150 rifle, but a $100 scope on it and call it a day.

Businesses asking for carry permit credentials
DaveTN replied to lock n' load's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Because that’s how the SCOTUS has interpreted it. They allow states to apply “reasonable restrictions”. They don’t say what those restrictions are. They will hear them, or not, as they make their way to them. Even if this state goes “Constitutional Carry”, I assume there will still be laws that allow for businesses to post their property. The government does some overbearing things that many of us see as violations. But so do some gun owners. If a business doesn’t want you carrying a gun, and makes you aware of that, that’s how it will be. I support that. Now, that being said I would support the government telling a business they have to allow you to carry if they give the business absolute immunity. That means they can’t even be named in a civil suit about a gun. But of course, the lawyers will never go for that. Liability is the reason these businesses are posted. When someone get hurt on their property because a gun was present; the attorneys will go after the deep pockets. Which is usually them. -
I look at it like a plane crash. The chances of you being in one are slim. But I doubt that is of any reassure to those fire balling down a runway or crashing into a mountain. I can honestly say when I was a cop, I had no fear going on a man with a guy call, or a riot. (I was an adrenaline junkie) I would much rather do that than have an encounter with a wasp. When I see one, I can’t relax until I am out of the area, or it is dead. If I saw one of these I would be running and screaming like a little girl.

None until they get to D.C.

Businesses asking for carry permit credentials
DaveTN replied to lock n' load's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I don’t think most of us are misunderstanding what is being said, we just don’t agree with it. They certainly have the right to ask you anything they want. They also have the right to ask you to leave based on your response unless it has to do with a protected class. You have a right to own a gun and have it in your house under the 2nd amendment. You do not have that right on another’s property. As a matter of fact, in Tennessee it is a crime to carry in public without a permit; carrying in public is a privilege you purchase from the state. A business does not have to have privileges forced up on them. Therefore they can ask you, and based on your response decide if they want to allow you to come in. No one is saying you can be arrested for refusing to show your permit; but you can be arrested for refusing to leave their property. -

I would assume that is what is going to happen. They said it was Trumps fault there weren’t millions of masks or tens of thousands of ventilators available from a Federal warehouse somewhere. So since they are getting blamed for it, I would suspect this administration has ordered ridiculous amounts of those items. Masks have a shelf life and I would assume ventilators have a technology life. So this should be some lucrative contracts for products that may never be used.

That’s what happened with ammo. You can’t justify the capital expenditures when you know they will drop back to normal. However, I don’t know, but I would guess these companies that are producing PPE’s and Ventilators are getting funds from the Feds for those expenditures??
