  1. This is 2013, I can’t imagine that any cop (or anyone else for that matter) would do anything they wouldn’t want to see on TV or posted on the net. Yet it happens all the time. I see no problem with filming the cops. Now, if you are obstructing them from doing their job, like the woman was that wouldn’t move away from the cops trying to take a guy into custody on a traffic stop; then you get arrested and have your day in court. Obstructing has nothing to do with the camera and everything to do with the actions (or inactions) of the person holding it.
  2. +1 And I've actually bought guns from them. Pretty non eventful and fast.
  3. I had to go back and watch the video again. I don’t see that? He is standing outside the entry point with the rifle pointed down and is in a relaxed position talking to someone. When they go outside he walks out with the weapon still pointed down, leans over and says something to the primary (Probably; “I’m going to clear”.) and returns to his squad. I see a cop being a jerk in this, but it’s not that cop. IMO that is.
  4. I approached people and talked to them the way I would want to be talked to. How it went after that was up to them. Due to the amount of Officers there I am going to say they were dispatched. As you know; when cops are dispatched they respond and check things out. He could have had a polite conversation with them and left. He decided to do otherwise. The rifle doesn’t bother me. When we responded to MWAG calls (simple possession) if I was a back-up Officer I grabbed a shotgun (only because I didn’t have a rifle). We don’t know what information the Officers had prior to making contact. I tried to be prepared for the worst case scenario. When that didn’t happen the shotgun would go back in the rack and I would drive away.
  5. I’ve walked in their shoes. I defend the cops checking them out and I defend the friends filming it. When the cops are called or see something unusual they check it out; they don’t need PC or RAS to do that. Getting stopped by the cops is also unusual and the friends filmed that; they need no permission to do that. The cop was being a jerk though. But that’s just an observation from someone that has done his job.
  6. I’m curious to hear the whole story when it comes out. These are obviously rifle cases and he declared firearms when he checked in. So he wasn’t trying to hide anything. If one of those firearms was loaded and he had hi-cap mags in NY; it’s going to cost him. I wonder if the defacing of serial numbers is because the guns were painted or if they were truly defaced. News 4 had the story on the 10 o’clock news and they tried to make it sound like he tried to carry the guns onto the plane.
  7. I’m not aware of any law that requires a store to accept any ID? They accept what they want. Might be a clerk that has never seen an HCP, or just doesn’t want to accept it.
  8. Loaded rifles with defaced serial numbers, two handguns and hi-cap magazines. Things don’t look good for him.

    Single drill bit

Here's a link to the Big Dog in machine shop and tooling supplies. Surely you can find something you need to ship with that drill bit. http://www.mscdirect.com/
  10. Then I would have to guess this change came about because of this legislation.
  11. I would call it useless. However, it decriminalizes carrying past a sign in a posted parking lot. The only way the government can (or should) be able to force any private business to allow you to carry on their property would be if it is a right of all citizens of the state. It isn’t; it’s a privilege the state bestows upon our special group in exchange for money. Forcing a business to recognize carrying as a right when the state doesn’t even do it would be a thug government. It doesn’t make sense to support that just because it’s something we want; at least to me it doesn’t.
  12. I may be wrong, but I don’t think they can “opt out”. They can still enforce company policy and take disciplinary action; it’s just not a criminal charge.
  13. Doesn’t have to be in a lock box, just locked in the vehicle out of sight. That is, if you decide to go into a store that is posted. Of course I haven’t seen many store parking lots posted, so this changes nothing for most stores.
  14. A 12 year old was the Sparks, Nevada school shooter. Two kids shot and a Teacher killed. After the first kid was shot the teacher was killed when he tried to stop the shooter. I wondered what would have happened if the teacher would have been armed and shot the shooter when he pulled the weapon. Well of course we know what would have happened; the headlines would have been “Teacher murders 12 year old student”. I’m making no judgments about what these cops did; don’t have enough info other than stories saying the kid was raising the AK as he turned towards them. As I said before; reaction time….tick…tick…tick. But saying he was too young to be a danger, or that any of us, cop or HCP holder should have been able to tell a replica from the real thing as someone is presenting a weapon is ridiculous. Terrible situation.
  15. That’s a reasonable price for the extras you get.
  16. I’m not a class instructor, but like any other job you have people who are good at it and have real world experience, and you have those that took some classes and got an instructors permit with no real world experience. You have various people right here on this forum that have responded to, been the lead investigator on, been the prosecuting attorney, and the defense attorney on real world cases; class instructors are not included in that group because their opinion in a real world case with no experience means nothing. I’m not knocking instructors but if your instructor tells you there is some law that creates a free fire zone; he’s an idiot. As CR said the devil is in the details. The decision to charge you or not, and ultimately the decision on your guilt or innocence will be made by people that will have days to decide if what you decided in seconds was reasonable.   That’s nine cases where obviously the DA thought they needed to go to trial. How did those nine cases end?   Not enough info for anyone to make an intelligent decision on anything other than the fact that obviously it was good for the defendant if the judge or a jury in courtroom retuned a not guilty verdict. To learn anything we would need to know why the DA prosecuted the case and why the Judge/Jury acquitted.
  17. Looking forward to hearing what you find when you get there.
  18. I agree 100% and have been saying this for a long time. The EPA and OSHA put a lot of companies out of business because the work went to countries that either don’t protect their workers or the government eats those costs.   But the health hazards are very real; we can’t just turn our backs. The taxpayer is going to pay for it in one way or another. Either in social welfare programs or with the hit on the economy with lost jobs, or with the government taking the hit on the costs of compliance. I vote for the latter.   I have been involved in manufacturing all my life; I try my best to buy American made when I can. Guns, Cars, Motorcycles, Liquor (the important things in life), I can still get made here (although my last car was assembled in Canada).   Pick up the tab for these American companies that want to be compliant. You are going to pay for it anyway may as well have the benefit of the jobs.   Lead is bad stuff, I cringe when I see these guys jumping into casting their own bullets; but I guess we all have to die from something. But please research this stuff before you do it.
  19. Was SOP violated? Ammo is not weapons of mass destruction. The blame here falls squarely on the shoulders of the criminals.   I leave ammo in my car; in a gun. My car is locked. I feel no special responsibility to put a safe in my car. I would rather my gun get stolen than my laptop; cheaper to replace.   But I guess if I was an 18 year old man I might try to blame the LEO’s for me breaking into their building. I might also try to blame my parents for me being a felon. Neither would fly.
  20. Locked in a trailer is as secure as locked in my house or my car. I think it’s ridiculous that anyone would even imply they have a responsibility to better secure ammo from burglars.   No 3500 is not a lot.   The driver of the vehicle was an 18 year old adult; the two with him were 15 and 16. I hope they are all headed for prison or reform school; they are burglars.   Why is it a story? Because someone is trying to make it look like LEO’s made it easy for kids to get ammo; which is nothing close to what happened.
  21. Well I wasn’t going to ask, but you seem to want to tell us. Why would anyone with ammo the way it is today want a .243 or a 7MM-08 instead of a .223 or .308? You already explained why you want that brand.
  22. Home invaders are a different kind of criminal that a burglar. They know they are going to have confrontation when they come through the door. They move fast and are unusually armed. You may only have seconds.   One of the worst cases I saw was a home invasion where they disarmed the husband before he could get his gun loaded and then raped the wife in front of him.
  23. I like that it has a heavy barrel and a quad rail standard. But I wouldn’t pay extra for a piston let alone several hundred extra.
  24. They say part of a wing broke off sending it into a spiraling nose dive; they couldn’t get out.
  25. Maybe he was trying to get stopped by the cops so he could make a YouTube video.
