  1. This. If I was a democrat running for President I would pay for a good third party candidate to run. Divide and conquer.
  2. Good. Let them become the keepers of the world; we can’t afford it anymore.
  3. I need guttering replaced and trim work done. Lowes has a thing on their website where you can contact them for quotes on home repairs. I’m sure they use sub-contractors, but by going that way I assumed I would be dealing with Lowes if something went wrong?
  4. They don’t mean much.
  5. Bob if you are looking for advice I will throw my two cents in for what it’s worth. You need an attorney and you need to keep your mouth shut and quit posting your case on forums. As a former Police Officer I try not to judge people based on one side of the story; that’s just a given in real life. But as an arm chair quarterback on the interweb I can only ask if you have a department policy on how you are allowed to handle an inmate that is not cooperating? From what you say it appears that another Corrections Officer felt you were overreacting and pulled you off; that’s not good for you. Your response about what you would have done in NY is telling. You don’t have to be convicted of a crime to lose your HCP or Armed Security status. If you wanted to keep it you should have had an attorney before your hearing. Filing an appeal without one will likely have the same result. I would get the Attorney Yeager used; I think he had his permit reinstated after making death threats in a YouTube video. This story from last year says Hamilton County leads the state in arrest rates for jailers and none of them were fired; how did you get so lucky? http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2012/feb/15/hamilton-county-leads-state-in-jailer-arrest/
  6. Throw blame around however you like, but the only blame I see is the idiot that picked up the gun and pulled the trigger. If it wasn’t for him the others mistakes would not have mattered. People whine if guns get checked at the door and whine if they don’t; but the reason for it is obvious.
  7. There is no misunderstanding. It’s the typical “aren’t there some murders or rapists to catch?” It’s really too simple. If you are more at risk from dying at the hands of a murderer or rapist than at that the hands of a bad driver, and your local PD is enforcing traffic; you need to have a talk with the Chief or Sherriff. If you find the opposite is true you need to understand that administrators use the Officers where they are needed.
  8. The stories I read said it really doesn’t matter; they just write you under the due care statute that covers all those things; distracted driving is illegal.   If they have cause to search it, they would just seize it and get either a court order or a warrant (depending on the latest court ruling) and have a tech unlock it. I doubt it would go that far unless it was a serious accident. They probably would just ticket you and you could make your case in traffic court.
  9. If you pass this truck while texting you are probably drunk; two for one. http://www.policemag.com/channel/vehicles/news/2013/03/18/tenn-trooper-uses-heavy-duty-truck-to-catch-texting-drivers.aspx
  10. I don’t think the Governors or legislators of these states failed to consider the impact; I don’t think they care. Take the focus off what should be the #1 issue (Jobs) and put in on gun control.
  11. After reading my posts do you think I have implied it does? After seeing part two of that video, seeing that the Chief took the time to come out, and hearing what he had to say; I think he may have a talk with that Officer.
  12.     I think you will find most LE Officers are not uncomfortable with you carrying. (I know and worked with a lot of cops but I don’t personally know any Tennessee cops, so that’s just a guess based on what I have heard from some of the Tennessee cops here) But there may be some people and some conditions where they don’t feel comfortable. You are in a state where it is a crime to carry a gun. Your HCP is a defense to that charge, but it is does not give you rights that stop any Officer from stopping you or disarming you. Any Officer should take the time to explain to you that the law specifically allows him to disarm you and ask to see your HCP while he has you stopped. Whether he is doing it because he sees something that concerns him, or just wants to do it really doesn’t matter. Tennessee doesn’t require you to notify the Officer. I will do it if I am armed for my own personal reasons; other may choose not to; both are fine.
  13. Turns out there is a part 2 for that encounter. The Springfield Police Chief came out and talked to those people. You may not like his message, but he explains why and under what authority they were stopped. His delivery was much better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGAN8k7YpP8
  14. You can ask all you want, what you can’t do is refuse to comply. This makes no sense to me either. If he was concerned about his safety he would have disarmed her... period. That is his legal right. If he was concerned about her safety and the safety of others he wouldn’t have had her handling her weapon to clear it. While it makes no sense to me; he gets to do whatever he wants.
  15. Manufacturer? Their web site says they are an importer. But I can see why they would want to leave NY.
  16. Yes, a contract trumps employment at will. If there is not an employment contact or union (working under a union contract), they don’t need a reason. The only impact a reason would have would be if they wanted to dispute your unemployment.
  17. This has nothing to do with Castle Doctrine the homeowner invited them there; it was simple self-defense. The homeowner had a right to pull a gun when the other guy attacked him. But that justification ended when the attacker ran and the homeowner pursed him.
  18. Welcome from an Illinois transplant. Moved here from Champaign 15 years ago. Ground breaking pro 2nd amendment stuff coming bout of the 7th and Illinois Supreme Court right now. How you doing with all your gun laws in turmoil right now?
  19. Exactly. I would also add that if an employer wants to fire you; your days are numbered. They won’t need to search your vehicle or catch you with a gun. They don’t need to go to those extremes.
  20. Correct. And there is no law that says a cop can’t stop you and ask for ID if you are carrying a gun. In some states you are free to refuse to answer his questions and leave. Tennessee is not one of those states.     Yes, when the Police stop you, you can refuse to ID and ask if you are free to leave (but not in this state if you are carrying a gun). If they tell you no, then you are not free to leave and they do whatever they are going to do. Then one of four things will happen; you are arrested for whatever they are looking at you for, you leave when they are done, you leave and go to the Department and make a citizens complaint, or you leave and go get an attorney. That’s the way it’s been for many years and continues to be so. You are responsible for knowing and understanding your rights if you decide to draw a line in the sand; same thing goes for the cops. Everyone is responsible for their actions.
  21. A citizen isn’t required to file a complaint in this state. Carrying a gun is a crime and if someone calls (or a cop sees you) the cops can/will check it out and you will show an HCP or lose it. I don’t agree with that, but until it becomes a right for all citizens; that’s the way it is.
  22. Windows 7 is kick azz, I use it on my work computers and one at home. But I also have one that is Windows 8. I just like to keep up; I’m an old guy, but I don’t fight change.
  23. Anyone else done the 8.1 upgrade? I did it today and now I can’t post anything unless I use the BBCode mode. Can’t copy/Paste, or use the Image or link buttons without using the code with BBCode mode turned on. ??
  24. C&R transfers aren’t reported, so they wouldn’t know how many. Someone turning you in or someone with a C&R getting on the internet and offering to do a group buy and sell to non licensees might cause some attention. As has been pointed out; it’s illegal. Basically an “incident” could set it off. But unless they have a search or arrest warrant it won’t be a knock on the door; it will be a phone call to schedule an inspection.
  25. KY gun did a review and torture test. I don’t throw my rifles or handguns in the mud, freeze them in buckets of water, or drag them on a rope behind my car; but I know some here claim they do. Enjoy..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjsTJvlGV9k
