  1. But that’s the thing, it’s fast and brutal. Many think since we carry a gun that we have an edge. We have an edge maybe as a bystander, but not in a full on attack on us. Most would probably go down just like those people did.
  2. She's been in those ranks the many years I have seen her show.
  3. A person having this happen to them or witnessing an unproved brutal attack like those shown should be justified in shooting the attacker dead. Is the attacker putting people in immediate danger of death or great bodily harm? Yes. Are they likely to do it again if they escape the scene? Yes. But as has been stated, someone will light up one of these attackers, and we will be flooded with crying azz parents and friends talking about what a good kid the punk azz dirtbag was. They should air that video over the jail TV where those punks are being held and stand back and watch what happens.
  4. I will be making a trip to tunica and might want to do some shooting while the wife is gambling. I guess I could drive into Memphis if need be, but is there anything close by? If not what’s in Memphis? I would be looking for an indoor range for handgun shooting. Or if the weather is nice I have a couple of rifles that I might take to sight in at an outdoor range. Thanks for any suggestions.
  5. I’d say you will see that happen anywhere that’s not a gun shop; and even in some gun shops. They can’t hire knowledgeable people so they put them in there and make their own. Then they find a better job and it starts over. I’ve had the person with the Keys at Wal-Mart tell me “If you know what you want I will get it for you; but I don’t know anything about guns or ammunition.” Fine with me, at least they are honest; I know what I want or I wouldn’t be in Wal-Mart. Academy is a step above Wal-Mart when it comes to guns, but I wouldn’t call it a big step. Its retail sales; these people get moved from one department to the next and I think most of them do the best they can.
  6. You sure couldn’t tell it by driving around Middle Tennessee.
  7. Stores spend a lot of money advertising to get you in. It’s a shame they lost your business over lazy azz employees. If I were the store manager I would have walked back there, chewed azz, and let them know they aren’t on the clock to stand around and BS. Of course then they could all feel like victims and talk about what an azz I am; that is until the next time it happened. Like anything you have good and bad, I generally get good results when I am in stores and need something, and generally when I call (once I can get a person on the line.) I’m sure that phone rings constantly, but they need to know those are buyers calling. I hope the Manager you talked with had the sack to explain that to them in no uncertain terms. (Although that shouldn’t have to be done with adults)
  8. Seriously? Obama isn’t going to be impeached; move on. Obama may be a lot of things; but stupid isn’t one of them. He promised jobs and a better economy. It hasn’t happened. He is the one keeping people whining about guns and health care front and center. Keeps the focus off the tough issues. I see people on here crying about the “sheeple” and “the uninformed”; look in the mirror. This guy takes you by the hand and leads you right down the path he wants you to go.
  9. It doesn’t say that in the law that your name has to be on the title; just privately owned. I guess it could be an issue; but I doubt it.
  10. $200 would get you the absolute top of the line scope for a rimfire at 100 yards. A Leupold VX-1, Nikon BuckMaster, Vortex Crossfire. However I don’t think any scope at any price could offer you anything more than a quality $100 scope for shooting paper at 100 yards.
  11. If in your daily travels you get in a shoot-out with someone wearing body armor; caliber is probably not going to play a part in how things end.
  12. I don’t know what GA law is and I really don’t want you to explain it to me here, but do you think you would have been arrested if you had your ID with you and cooperated with the cops? Have you posted the audio of the conversation?
  13. It’s not a LOOPHOLE!!! A loophole implies that the legislature overlooked something that allows a way to get around some law. Anyone that buys in Tennessee from a Federal licensed dealer has their background checked. That was the intent of the Federal law. Any resident of this state is allowed private sales to other residents. That was in intent of our state legislature. There are anti-gun journalists that know as much or more about guns than many on this forum. Why do they have the clueless do these stories?
  14. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/69685-youtube-freedom-fighter-vs-tx-cops/
  15. “Snub nose” to me implies a short barreled compact; that would be the Model 60. In a full-size I also would suggest a 19 or 66 2 ½”
  16. If you search by what has sold on GB you will see that in good condition they are going for $1500. In like new condition they bring $2k or more. The price is up because they are a collector gun. I owned three, wish I had them back, but not to shoot.
  17. Looks like an SPS tactical with a SPS Varmint stock. It isn’t on their website now, but that doesn’t mean it has never been offered. He doesn’t claim in the ad it’s a factory gun; just that it’s never been fired.
  18. So either you lied or you didn’t know WTF you were talking about. Now step up and do the right thing. Of course that won’t happen.
  19. Sent you a link in a PM.
  20. I own many rifles, bolts 5.56/308/30-06, AR’s .22/5.56/7.62, Garand, M1 Carbine, etc. They all have a purpose I guess that’s why we collect them. But if I had to pick one rifle for general duty in a SHTF scenario; it would be my DPMS 308 Panther, 308 20 round mags, long range, short range, single shot, spray and pray, iron sights, optics; it does it all. Now once you start talking about more specific tasks I might have to change weapons. DISCLAIMER: Carrying ammo won’t be an issue for me, nor will running around in rough terrain.
  21. Only one shows up as actually selling on GB; $791.
  22. Once you approach a grand you are near the price point of an AR10. Now bolts and levers are not in the running. Doesn’t Wal-Mart sell a DPMS 308 for $900?
  23. Buds has the Savage Axis in 308 for $293, Mossberg 100 ATR for $275, Cabeals has the Remington 700 ADL with a scope on sale for $440. I don’t think your budget is enough to get anything that will take a mag. I looked at converting my Rem 700 308 to take mags, but the cost was too high. Last time I looked it was over $200 and mags were like $80 each. I got an MVP when they came out it’s only a .223 but I just wanted it for trigger time. They offer it now in a 308, but looks like street price will be around 600-700, at that price I’m going to go with a Remington 700 and forget the mag.
  24. We pay a higher sales tax rate because we don’t have a state income tax. I don’t have a problem with the state collecting it on internet sales. My view on taxes is that they should be a flat rate point of sale. No exceptions for anyone, not a school, church, business, and not an internet sale. But if everyone is going to pay; I expect to see a significant drop in the rate.
  25.     It is literally stealing; it is theft. Fraud, embezzlement, robbery, and bad checks are descriptions of how a theft occurred; they are all still theft. Civil court is where you make an example out of someone that thinks it okay or where you recover the money they stole from you. Criminal court is where the government puts them in jail for their actions. Civil court is pretty easy; criminal court in these cases is usually hampered by jurisdictional issues.
