We don’t need it; we don’t have a duty to retreat. Tennessee is at a point where the only states we need to copy are the four states that recognize Constitutional carry. Everything else at this point is just noise.

What a punk. Of course they are authorized to do it. Quit wasting everyone’s time being an idiot. -
New DOJ suggestions for school punishment

With letters like that going out it seems that way doesn't it? Won’t happen. When whites are the minority everyone will say we have rethought this and decided that showing favoritism to minorities is racist; therefore from here on out minorities will not get special treatment and will be help reasonable for their actions. -
Kinda old news, now, but the last paragraph sums it up.

80K over 22 years is about 3600 a year. If that is 1% of the total retirement they are making about $360,000 a year. I think I’m safe in saying a four star doesn’t get that much. I read a story that disability is paid by the VA and is unaffected by this. Is that not true? -
No. No way would I get rid of three or four working firearms for a wall hanger. But we are basing our opinions on what you said. Apparently this is something you have been wanting for many years. Also, I see a lot of people get burned playing in the firearms antique market, and see a lot of stuff posted for sale that isn’t right. I’m certainly no expert on antiques so my concern would be if the rifle is truly worth what it’s priced at.

I would buy it and worry about selling the other guns later; if I needed to.

1% of COLA is $186,000? You are going to have to show your math. I don’t think 1% of the total retirement would be $186,000 for anyone; Officer or not. -

Am I reading that article right, this is about a 1% cut in COLA? -
Unless you have stacks of cash around; you already have digital currency. RFID chips? Maybe, but they won’t be put there by the government. Some of you guys crack me up with the stuff you come up with. What makes you think the government has any desire to track you or implant anything in you? Biblical teachings? Okay this has to be good; let’s hear it.

FBI Releases new stats on background checks completed for 2013
DaveTN replied to Dustbuster's topic in General Chat
I don’t see how it could. You can’t by a handgun out of state, and you can’t buy a long gun you are not allowed to own in your state. -
Nope... Lets let them experience the Mother. The only place we have bombed with these is Florida; the world needs a closer look.

FBI Releases new stats on background checks completed for 2013

Those numbers from KY have to be screwed up. From 1999 to 2005 every year was in the 200K range. 2006 800K, 2007 1.6M, 2008 1.8M, 2009 2.3M, 2010 2.4M, 2011, 2.3M, 2012 2.6M, 2013 1.6M. 10X jump…. Sorry someone is cooking the books. -
I wondered the same thing about those that bought online prior to the panic. I’ve never found anywhere online that had quality brass ammo for less than Wal-Mart. And I don’t think you could do it now unless you just can’t get anything at your Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart could have raped us on ammo prices; but they haven’t done it.

Federal Judge Rules Chicago's Ban on Gun Sales - Unconstitutional
DaveTN replied to waynesan's topic in General Chat
This was a ruling by the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. The last ruling (addressing carrying off your property) was by The Illinois Supreme Court. Chicago politicians will comply now or they will start getting replaced. For the last state to have carry; the rulings coming out of Illinois are going to impact gun rights a lot. This is one of the reasons I have said that we are not losing our rights; we are getting them back more in the last few years than we have in the last 50. -
The problem I have with that is that if you have them doing anything other than moving rocks from one place to another, you will be taking work from someone that is not a criminal.

For a long range rifle I have a Remington VLS in 308 with a Leupold 6.5 -20 x 40 VX-III. I am hoping this is a 1000 yard rifle but I haven’t got to try it out at that distance yet. It shoots nice groups at 300 yards with factory ammo. I also have the Mossberg MVP in .223. It’s a nice rifle but certainly not the quality of the Remington and the .223 is not what I would consider a long range round. I also have a 308 AR, but I doubt you will find anything in the AR platform that will compete with a heavy barrel bolt gun; they also won’t be in your budget.

Pain or discomfort; are you kidding me? We can’t even get their TV taken away. So discussing the constitution isn’t even a factor in this issue.

Well even Wal-Mart had realized that our economy will fail unless our manufacturing base recovers. I thought it was commonsense, but I guess some folks are a little slow. They have made a commitment; let’s see how it goes. It’s a start anyway, recognizing there is a problem is half the battle. http://corporate.walmart.com/global-responsibility/us-manufacturing

Maybe they have been reading the gun forums. That has been suggested many times. Good for them.

They still make N frames. They just aren't as popular as when cops were still carrying revolvers.

The guy you work with is the majority; we are the minority. So I don’t know why this would surprise anyone. I only have one rifle that uses a clip and it only holds eight rounds, where do I get these high capacity clips?

For my entire life (and before) the argument has been the wording, punctuation and intent. If the intent was to allow people to be armed for any reason, the 2nd amendment would read “The right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.†However, the 2nd amendment could be gone with the next Constitutional Convention. But my right to defend myself would not be gone. So I choose not to use the 2nd as justification to keep and bear arms. What the 2nd amendment does at this time is to keep the Feds from disarming Police or National Guard as they have done in England.
