TFA Constitutional Carry Push (Updated with Scans)
DaveTN replied to GlockSpock's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
You are comparing apples and oranges. Hitting an employee is a criminal act, how does that pertain to what we are discussing? Company’s ban stuff coming through their gates all the time. Firearms, cameras, recording devices, portable electronics, lighters or portable spark producing devices, some even ban tobacco products anywhere on their property. They can ban whatever they want for whatever reason they want or no reason at all. The only way a state can force a private property owner to allow you to carry anything on private property would be if it is something that is a recognized right. The state of Tennessee does not recognize carrying as a right, quite the opposite; it is a criminal act. We buy a privilege from the state, the “training requirements†are a joke. Even the state doesn’t want guns on their property with or without an HCP, but they want to tell private business they have to allow it? That’s a thug government and I won’t support it. Yes it does. This sounds like one of Bloomberg’s “government can do whatever they want tacticsâ€. But we don’t have to go all the way to NY to find out of control politicians. We have them right here if they think they can drive this down the throat of private business. If the state wants get heavy handed with private business they will need to recognize the right to keep and bear arms for all citizens. It’s really very simple. NOTE: I absolutely believe we have a right to keep and bear arms and don’t mean to sound otherwise. (Although I don’t acknowledge that it comes only from the 2nd amendment) But that is not the case in this state and until we have that right our legislators have overstepped their authority. That’s why this legislation is a joke. They can’t enforce this ridiculous legislation. We need carry to be a right. -
Unless you shoot beyond 1000 yards (where is that going to happen?) a 308 can do anything a 300WM can do except cost more to shoot and have heavier recoil. Your wife won’t want to shoot a 300WM, but then she probably won’t want much to do with a .308 bolt. Don’t forget that once you get the rifle you want it’s easy to put that same amount of money in a scope.

I need to introduce everyone to a special someone

I knew it was going to be a dog. I had to put down my best friend in May. I need to quit looking at these threads. If I remember right you and your wife are “Dog People†and truly get it. Best of luck with your new family member. -
I don’t see a question in there. I own all three so that would be my answer if you are questioning what you are doing. I own an M&P15T and it would certainly go before my 308 Panther. No way would I get rid of a 308 AR so I could have two 223’s. I have a beautiful Remington 700 VLS in 308 for my long range rifle, but I think it would have to go before my 308 AR. Here’s my thinking… the 308 AR is an all-around rifle. It’s a battle rifle, target rifle and hunting rifle. My .223 is a paper puncher, I don’t hunt but I would not use a .223 if I did. The 308 AR may not be as accurate as a bolt 308, but it could serve in that capacity if need be. So I guess if I had to get rid of something I would suggest you sell the M&P15, throw down $400 for a M&P22 to swap back and forth with at the range with the wife, plus have something for cheap trigger time, throw the rest of the money on a Remington 700 and save up for the glass; all bases are covered. But that’s just my thoughts and ideas.

New DOJ suggestions for school punishment
DaveTN replied to jacob's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Since you are going to make judgments about what I believe. Let, me do the same. You hate everything government; you would rather believe everything you read on the internet than actually looking at the kids that are coming out of the school system as long as you can make it appear there is some kind of failure and you can blame that failure on the government. Many families can’t afford to send their children to private schools. Many families can’t homeschool because both parents have to work to maintain the standard of living they want fort their family. Your comments would have those parents believe their children are doomed to a life of being ignorant because they attend public schools. Nothing is father from the truth. I’m sorry that you find yourself around so many young people that are stupid. I don’t find that to be the case and I’m sure that most people here that are smart enough to look around them don’t either. The doom and gloom that you are spewing is non-sense at face value. Post all the internet links you want but at some point common sense has to kick in. If I am reading your posts right; you don’t have kids and have no first-hand experience with home schooling (which you so vehemently think is the answer)? If that’s true where does your experience come from? You read internet articles of ridiculous Zero Tolerance policies and you think the kids are doomed to ignorance? Schools make mistakes, people make mistakes, and it’s the job of the parents and groups like the PTA to fix them. But you do not want to work towards that because you are so blinded by your hatred for anything government, and apparently in this this costs associated with education, that you would get on here and try to make parents believe that home school or private schools are the only option they have. However, those are just my judgments about you from reading your posts. Agree or disagree with me I don’t think many on here that are familiar with my posts would think they need you to interpret them; they are usually pretty clear. -
That’s why I suggested you talk to a Command Officer; they will tell you what the law is and how their Officers will enforce it. It was just a suggestion; sorry you didn’t like it. Here is a link to the TN state laws. They don’t cover city ordinances or Department Policy’s a particular department may have. http://www.lexisnexis.com/hottopics/tncode/

Well I guess Krogers rule on the side of Greedy!!!!
DaveTN replied to bersaguy's topic in General Chat
I think Kroger is pretty good competition for Wal-Mart. Not everyone is a price buyer; Kroger has better stuff than Wal-Mart. My wife quit shopping at Wal-Mart a long time ago and it wasn’t all over price. -
According to the story, the gunman was holding him and a cashier hostage and moving them towards another room at gunpoint. He didn’t have the chance to run out the back. I don’t think he will have any issues; unless the permit becomes an issue.

She was off duty and unarmed. What would you like to happen to her? It’s telling that you find it so funny.

They get a discount because that’s who the private company decided to give one to. Seniors, Military/Veterans, Disabled, Cops, Firemen, Mailmen, Ladies day, many places give discounts. I think with Kroger’s and the seniors it’s more about market share and less about thinking anyone deserves a discount. You must be a rough looking 53, because I’ll be 60 this year and no one is offering me discounts. -
Not if they have nukes they won’t. It’s why I believe we have no business being involved in saying what countries can have nukes and what countries can’t.
-
Doubtful he will have to prove anything about the shooting justification. But sadly it appears there is a question of whether or not be had a permit; glad that can’t happen in TN. When you start waving a gun around threatening to kill people; you are bought and paid for. And I do mean to sound insensitive; Thanks to the victim; he took a dirtbag criminal off the street.

New DOJ suggestions for school punishment
DaveTN replied to jacob's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Nonsense. Do your kids not know history or can’t do math? Did they quit teaching those things in school? What are you saying? What would race or religion have to do with screwing with the kids? Who are you blaming now? -

Caring about your kids is great; but it isn’t enough. They need a quality education and the chance to gain social skills. Maybe I’m looking at this a little differently. For years I was being sent to homes on “Family situations†or “neighborhood situationsâ€. I saw too many families where the parents were incapable of raising children; it was common. Ask any cop how many times they went on calls where they saw kids that didn’t have a chance because of the parents. And I’m not talking about poor parents; I’m talking about stupid parents. I just think the percentage of parents that have the time and ability to teach their children is pretty small. On a different note I don’t buy into the rants that kids aren’t being taught anything anymore. I have worked with some pretty sharp young people; none were home schooled and none went to private schools. We see gun owners do stupid stuff and the press says we need to get rid of guns, we see a cop do something bad and all cops are bad, we see a school have a stupid zero tolerance policy and all schools are bad, we see a stupid kid and its “the system failed themâ€. I say BS to those things. You have a responsibility to your kid to make sure they get an education. For anyone to say that isn’t possible in public schools is preposterous. -
He’s going back to jail for a while… until they send him to prison.

Did I say anything about forcibly removing anyone form anywhere? You owe your kids a chance. If you think you can give your children a good education at home and that’s what you want to do; do it. But if you are doing it just because you hate the government or want to whine about the school system; your kids deserve better than to be pawns in that. -
I have a Beltman that’s probably 5 years old and still in great shape. I am getting ready to order another because I also want black. I’ve tossed around the idea of trying D.M. Bullard because I have one their holsters and it is very impressive. I don’t know though if their belts are as good as the Beltman.

Any Machinists Here? Need Milling Machine Help
DaveTN replied to Clod Stomper's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Yes, and if you are replacing the chuck you are more concerned with the arbor it attaches to. From that link posted about your machine it says it has an R8 spindle. So are we safe in assuming you have an undamaged R8 arbor? If you can take some measurements on the taper mount portion of the arbor the guys at MSC can tell you what chuck you need. http://www.mscdirect.com/browse/Tool-Holding/Drill-Chucks-Holders-Accessories/Drill-Chucks-Accessories/Drill-Chucks?navid=12108655 If you need a new arbor. http://www.mscdirect.com/browse/Tool-Holding/Drill-Chucks-Holders-Accessories/Drill-Chucks-Accessories/Drill-Chuck-Arbors?navid=12108653 You can probably find a chuck mounted on an R8 arbor used on EBay pretty cheap. -

I think most people that have an HCP would keep it, and I doubt the state would pass up that money. I don’t expect to see in my lifetime the Feds telling a state what they can or can’t do with carry laws so an HCP would still be needed to travel. -
War should be hell. It should be disgusting, violent and brutal. People should understand that innocent civilians and children will die. Our enemies should understand that we will use devastating weapons on them. The only mercy shown will be to those that surrender. If they are enemy combatants I don’t care if they burn them alive or what they do with the bodies. I also don’t care what country an enemy combatant was born in. Our troops shouldn’t have to die because our politicians have decided that we won’t use the weapons that can devastate our enemy. (While they sit safely at home) Make war something no one wants.

I haven’t seen many on here that don’t support your right to do it. That’s not the same thing as those that think it’s a bad idea or a tactical disadvantage. My experience has shown me that it’s a tactical disadvantage; others experiences may show them something else. Also, do I think most people that open carry are seeking attention? Yes I do, but that’s just my opinion and has nothing to do with the law or rights. I don’t really care if people open carry; although I don’t think that was the intent of not outlawing it. What gets me are the people that cry like babies when they get stopped open carrying. If you are open carrying and someone calls in on you; you will get stopped. Deal with it like an adult. Show your HCP be professional and courteous and be on your way. You live in a state where carrying a gun is a crime.
