  1. Because life isn’t life. It could be 25 years. Unfortunately most of those multiple life sentences run concurrently not consecutive; so they are still eligible for parole. I would guess the parole board would be less likely to parole someone with multiple life sentences.
  2. I don’t know why anyone is arguing about 8 months; it shouldn’t be an issue other than I doubt the dealer will take it back. But the dealer should ship it back for you or CMMG should send you a prepaid shipping label. Like Mike said it’s probably the BCG and they will probably just put another one in. Then you can wait another 8 months to see if that fixed it. I know how it goes though I sent a Shield back to S&W. I was concerned how long it would take; it ended up only being a 16 day turnaround time, but sat here for months before I shot it again. Now I get to deal with the Remington 700 recall.
  3. Yes, but if you break traffic laws continually you can gain habitual offender status. You can even gain felony habitual offender status. See how that works? It’s a progression that weeds out those that are not responsible enough to drive a car. But anyway, the felony ban thing has been argued to death on this forum; the bottom line is that the state of Tennessee is one of the toughest states I have heard of on it. If your crime is drug or violence related not even a full pardon will get your rights back. And if you are caught as a felon in possession it’s pretty much guaranteed prison time from what I understand.
  4. NATO 9mm is commercially available. It also is just 10% more pressure than a standard round, which makes it less than a +P.   As I understand the problem it’s not shooting through body armor, and I don’t think a 5.7 could do that out of a handgun anyway. 5.7 would be less effective than a 9mm at making an enemy unable or unwilling to fire his weapon at you. Any round including a .22LR could take someone out with a head shot. Does anyone here think that requiring headshots in combat (or even in an SD situation) sounds reasonable?
  5. I just went through this with an elderly aunt that had signs of dementia. I ask my father if he got the guns out of the house; he said he did. It’s not about rights it’s about responsibility. Of course gun rights pales in comparison to all the other issues families have to deal with in these situations.
  6. Wow I bet he took some heat. I remember someone saying that they got stopped by a Park Ranger (I think) and they told him they disarm everyone, but haven’t been around when a forum LEO said they do. Did the thread get locked? I don’t doubt that there are Officers that disarm everyone they stop, but I would say it’s rare and in a state that doesn’t recognize carry as a right; I doubt there is much recourse other than making a citizens complaint to their department and seeing if Command Officers deal with it.
  7. Most of our machine tool manufactures are already overseas which would cause us major problems in a large scale war. Do we really want our guns manufactured in a foreign country? American gun manufactures are still the best in the world.
  8. I use AimShot laser bore sighters for my rifles. But they are only a rough in to get you on the paper. Fire three to five shot groups and make sight adjustments. Or as Greg said let someone else shoot it.
  9. I think he is talking about this... http://www.armytimes.com/article/20100322/NEWS/3220306/Marksmen-issued-better-rifles-Afghanistan
  10. I fail to see the logic here. If I were stopping a suspected DUI my first question would be “Sir, do you have any weapons?” Because next I would be having you step out of the vehicle. Are we then going to have a discussion about whether or not I’m a real cop? The fake cops that were working this area where at that point, pointing guns at you. If you think it’s not a real squad car behind you, drive normally and call 911. They will tell you immediately if it’s a real cop.   Well if you are the victim of an armed robbery it only has a few outcomes. You are dead, you are injured and robbed, or they are dead.   I think by most Officers it would not even be an issue unless they see something that makes them have a good reason.

    Academy Sports

Buds sells the one Academy has (MA9102) for $1485, but they don’t have any in stock. They have the loaded (MA9222) in stock for $1542. I think we now pay tax at Buds and you would have a transfer fee. But you could get the LOADED from Buds for what you would pay for the STD at Academy. http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/springfield-armory-174-m1a-153-308-win-semi-automatic-rifle/pid-1076833 http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/27445/Springfield+MA9102+M1A+STD+308+WAL+BL http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/27492/Springfield+Armory+M1A+Loaded%2C+Walnut+stock%2C+carbon+barrel
  12. I’ve never understood the whole inhumane thing. War should be brutal. It; should be devastating. Leaders of counties should know that innocent citizens will die, cities will be destroyed, and the leaders will be the first targets. I find it laughable that there are people who think shooting holes though a person with .223 or .308 ball is more humane than killing them instantly with HP’s. We use .50 caliber rifles as sniper rifles. They may be more humane in that you will probably die instantly with one hit; but if you don’t it won’t be very humane. You want peace? Make war be something countries don’t want to participate in and let the leaders know they and everyone around them will die in the first hours of a war.
  13. Hate? He addressed the case you started a thread about and is obviously familiar with. He is a criminal defense attorney in this state. I commend him for posting after you took your cheap shots at Chip. You obviously don’t like being told you are wrong. You came here to try to sell your seminar. If I were going to pay for a legal seminar on the use of deadly force would I rather pay for one from an attorney that practices in the county and state where the seminar is held, or one from Massachusetts? That’s a no brainer. You said you weren’t trying to sell anything, but that’s BS you were trying to sell your seminar in the very first sentence you posted.
  14. I have not been in combat in the military. Does the difference in accuracy between a .223 and a .308 on full auto outweigh the range and the devastation of a .308 in a situation like Afghanistan, where it appears to me most of the fighting is long range shooting? I don’t know I guess like everything else its application dependent. I just think that if I was heading out for combat in a SHTF scenario I’m taking my AR10 not my AR15. (I don’t think that scenario will happen, just sayin’). Do the troops on the ground want something different? If so what do they want? (Other than a gunship)
  15. Court details show he has an attorney. It’s not set for trial it’s a hearing on a motion or petition. Probably a motion to dismiss or suppress evidence. Still showing a felony charge so it doesn't appear any plea negotiations have taken place yet. With no criminal history I would bet this is settled in a plea agreement. It is my understanding he is a nurse, so not only is he risking a felony conviction, he is risking his career.
  16. If they aren’t fit for duty handguns are destroyed. I’ve heard rumors that M14’s and M16’s have been converted to semi-auto and donated to Police Departments. But I don’t know that for sure. Although the M4 is more desirable the M16 is still a functional battle rifle (if you are okay with .223), we (taxpayers) paid for those M16’s and the government should be required to keep them in the event we would need them, as long as they are functional and safe.
  17. While they are at it they need to get rid of that lame azz .223 also. The .308 is a far superior round to the 223 in making the opponent unable or unwilling to fire his weapon at you. .223 is for punching paper or hunting varmints. I truly think its sad that many of us have better battle rifles than our military that is facing the enemy in battle.
  18. Yes you were, and I accept your apology.
  19. How long did it take for the M9 to be mainstream when they switched over to it? How many handguns does the military purchase a year? Don’t all branches of the military use the same handgun (other than some SF units)? I mean “The Army” isn’t going to switch over to another weapon unless all the military does...Right?
  20. No, Dave answered the question "Where did you pull this copy of 39-17-1301?" I also quoted 39-11-106, but that wasn't the question.
  21. I think stopping a suspect DUI vehicle or someone driving recklessly is a “routine” traffic stop (if there is such a thing). But things like that will get you immediately disarmed. Failure to comply with Officers orders to either disarm or allow him to disarm you could escalate into something more than a simple traffic stop. If an Officer is violating some Tennessee law or Department policy by disarming you; you have recourse after you are released from the stop.
  22. http://www.lexisnexis.com/hottopics/tncode/ Under 39-17-1301   That may be for the BATF; they directly addressed it. And it may be okay in Tennessee if you go by the letter of the law. But it clearly violates the intent of the law. I would want to see case law or at the very least an AG opinion on it. I don’t think an argument that it doesn’t fall into either category would keep some DA’s from filing state charges.   I also would have a bondsman on speed dial and do your homework for a criminal defense attorney. You should know that the BATF rulings on this weapon have nothing to do with state law.
  23. It may be okay with the ATF, but has it been tested in Tennessee? It does not meet the Tennessee definition of a handgun or a shotgun. I see the risk of being arrested for possession of a sawed off shotgun under state law, with big lawyer bills to follow even if you win. 39-17-1301. Part definitions (15) "Short barrel" means a barrel length of less than sixteen inches (16'') for a rifle and eighteen inches (18'') for a shotgun, or an overall firearm length of less than twenty-six inches (26''); (16) "Shotgun" means any firearm designed, made or adapted to be fired from the shoulder and to use the energy of the explosive in a fixed shotgun shell to fire through a smooth-bore barrel either a number of ball shot or a single projectile by a single function of the trigger; 39-11-106. Title definitions. (16) "Handgun" means any firearm with a barrel length of less than twelve inches (12'') that is designed, made or adapted to be fired with one (1) hand;
  24. Thats .005 Is someone really going to argue .005 is slimmer? There will be that much difference in the grips or where you measure it.
  25. I just got off the phone with Alex Jones and he told me those were highly trained Federal Agents that were preparing to go door to door and start a gun seizures. As they fill those 4 semis there are more parked on the outskirts of town to replace them. Tennessee Department of safety has turned over all HCP records as has the TBI with their background checks that we all know have been held for years anyway. Hang on a minute someone is at the door.....
