No, if you have an employment contract you are not under "employment at will".
-
An employer shouldn’t need a reason to let you go; and they certainly shouldn’t have to explain it to anyone; unless they are contesting your unemployment claim. I’ve seen more worthless workers get fired and yell discrimination than I have seen be discriminated against. If an employer wants to fire you, you are more than likely gone it’s just a matter of when. It may not look as bad on your employment record as if you force them to have cause. They are places where you have job protection...most union shops.

The major players in the business can’t make money if you can’t get their guns. They will make sure you have a place to buy guns unless gun sales in your area is so pathetic it’s not worth messing with; I doubt there are many areas of Tennessee that fail into that category.
-
Yes it will help local dealers because now people will have to pay our BAST up front whether they order on-line or not. But if the dealers don’t have the guns we want; price won’t matter. Buds prices have slowly been rising over the last few years; someone else will step in I’m sure once the supply chain opens up a little more.

Like any business; dealers will, come and go. When the prices of used jumped to the prices of new; I quit buying used and bought new. When dealers were acting like they were doing me a favor by making a $500 gun available to me locally for $600 I went to the internet. Now the tide is changing. There are quite a few more gun dealers in the MidState than there were just a few years ago. I don’t need to see a gun to buy it; I don’t need good service from a dealer: I need them to sell me what I want at a fair price. Service and support? I buy mostly Smith & Wesson; they are my service and support. The last gun I bought new I got a PM from a forum member letting me know someone had it at a good price. I called them and ask if they would hold it for me until I got off work and drove the 60 miles to their store. They made me give them a credit card number for a nonrefundable deposit which took me a little by surprise; but whatever. I refuse to deal with the dealers that are charge outlandish prices; even when they are a couple of miles from me. And I wish they would go out of business so a good shop would open here. If gun dealers are hurting I would guess it’s because either they can’t get inventory or they are overpriced; because we all know guns are selling. There is no government agenda going on here, that’s tin foil hat non sense; we did this. We also created the ammo shortage. Ammo will back in supply as soon as those who got caught off guard get their supplies built up. Guns are already in pretty good supply. The problem with gun availability is distributors. They serve no purpose and add no value; they need to be gone out of the supply chain. Some dealers have good contacts with distributors and some don’t, I would guess it’s based on performance and who you know. I bought many guns from Buds and CDNN, but my last three or four have been from dealers, not local, but in the MidState that sold to me at fair prices. So I don’t know about anyone else here, but I’m not one of the tire kickers that goes to guns stores and paws all over guns while arguing price over something they have no intention of buying. I’m a gun buyer and I’m a little pizzed about all this bellyaching that we are turning our backs on gun dealers; give me a break.

Know what the carry laws are in every state you carry.
DaveTN replied to The Legion's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Won't happen; the states won't stand still for it. The Feds don't recognize a right to bear arms for an individual; States Rights is all we have that protects us now from the Feds. -
I missed those...they are funny.

I had to laugh out loud when I saw this. Anyone that spends $40K on any electronics has to have money to burn. I remember the first plasma I saw, it was a 40†at BestBuy and had a $10K price tag on it. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung-s9-85-class-84-1-2-diag--led-4k-ultra-hd-tv-2160p-120hz-smart-3d-hdtv/8908129.p?id=1218944452594&skuId=8908129&st=categoryid$abcat0101001&cp=1&lp=1

It would be interesting to see if anyone has tried it. Their website says up to 200 yards under optimal conditions. I would think unobstructed line of sight would be optimal? http://gopro.com/support/articles/wi-fi-range

While staying with a friend a few weeks ago he bought a GoPro Hero3+. These things are really cool. I knew they were small but didn’t realize how small. I thought I was going to wait for the HeroX that was supposed to come out in June, but now they are talking next year. I can’t wait that long. How do you guys like yours? Do you use them much? While shooting on that trip I was thinking with the WiFi I should be able to set the camera near the target and view my shots on my phone?

What do you want us to do?

Would a reasonable person think Greg was in danger of death or great bodily harm? No, he would have gone to prison. The guy might have beat the bejesus out of the car, but how was your son in danger? Anyone that thinks you don’t have a duty to drive away is kidding themselves.

Inside story of a home invasion
DaveTN replied to Titansfan's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Good that they were bound over to adult court; they need to go to prison. They can blame the victim all they want, but it’s to too bad they didn’t die when they walked into the room. Maybe the court will slap them on the hand and give them probation. Although I would guess they have already been that route since they are pulling home invasions. Next time they will kill the victim and then at least one of them will go away when the other rats him out. Unfortunately someone will probably have to die or be seriously injured before the acts. Yes, I worked in the field also as a Police Officer. But I don’t call it “justiceâ€. My daughter is a Probation Officer now. I hate the kind of dirt bags that will pull this crap and its why we need guns to defend ourselves from them. -

Stand by, they are on the phone with Jesse now. -
I hate to see this happen to any gun company, but especially an American gun company that is expanding to the South. I suspect Remington will try to make it right with the people that bought them.

Tennessee Open-Carry Law Torpedoed by Underhanded Tactics?
DaveTN replied to Falcon1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Someone is going to get thrown under the bus, but I doubt it will be Haslam. I want to hear from him on this. -
Nevermind, I read it wrong.

That has to be a joke. But on a different note she has a smokin’ hot body.

I don’t have anything against a 1911, have owned many, and currently have two. But I don’t think the 1911 is in the running. There are a few reliable .45ACP pistols without going back to the 1911.
-
That’s what I mean. We didn’t shoot cars, but a guess the situation could arise. Did he go try to shoot though a car door with a .45? I would choose a .357SIG for shooting though car doors. But for shooting people I would choose the .40S&W for a high capacity duty weapon.

Best recommendation for female friendly HCP class
DaveTN replied to dwatts1984's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Anyone know where that class at BassPro in Nashville does their shooting? -
It’s the same thing in Police Departments. Politics, rumors, taking isolated incidents and applying them across the board, instead of looking at the main application.
-
I think in these discussions we tend to lose sight of the application and the desired result. The application is a close in firefight with an enemy either, firing his weapon at you, or preparing to fire his weapon at you. The desired result is to make him unable or unwilling to fire his weapon. Death may be a desirable outcome; but not a requirement. Body armor is not a factor. A handgun round has little chance of fully penetrating military body armor. A headshot from almost any caliber will result in an instant stop of the threat. So if you have the skills to do that in a firefight; caliber is really not an issue. So we are taking about stopping a shooter with shots to the body. Mass and surface area driven by velocity are the key factors.

What’s it claiming to be, other than not a violation of Federal Law?
-
And that went all the way to the SCOTUS with them applying that the law can’t be ambiguous. Tennessee law is not ambiguous. Who wants to play that game over a sawed off shotgun?
