I just picked up the Olight i1R 2 Eos Keychain light. Plenty of light for such a small package. https://www.olightstore.com/i1r-2-kit-double.html?https://olight.idevaffiliate.com/idevaffiliate.php?id=217&gclid=Cj0KCQjwjer4BRCZARIsABK4QeX4SWfdGh3xv33DORg-Hl4R1LGaTVBUhv-rwG9K7pElSoEOR8kqzzIaAi3tEALw_wcB

That doesn’t look like a brace, it looks like a stock to me. I don’t pretend to know all the NFA laws, but I don’t think you can legally put a hand stop on a pistol?? But, will any of that matter? I doubt it, they were shooting at a Police station. My guess is that will be okay with Metro Prosecutors and the Mayor.

I thought this would be a good addition to my knife collection. While I’m not willing to invest in an original there are a couple of quality reproductions. Sheffield Cutlery offers a reproduction in both a polished blade or black. https://www.amazon.com/sheffieldcutleryshop-GENUINE-COMMANDO-SHEFFIELD-FAIRBAIRN/dp/B07CV21YG3/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=sheffieldcutleryshop&qid=1595509787&sr=8-2 Gerber makes a spin off of this knife called the Mark II. It was used quite a bit in Vietnam. I don’t care for a serrated blade, and that appears to be the only way they make it. But I’ve been very happy with the quality of everything I’ve had from Gerber. https://www.amazon.com/Gerber-Mark-II-Knife-22-01874/dp/B0017KXAGS/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2U67LTZBTLTCJ&dchild=1&keywords=gerber+mark+2&qid=1595511159&sprefix=Gerber+Mark%2Caps%2C178&sr=8-1 Please posts comments or pics of your fighting knifes.

They have now added this....

The two big factors for determining which cameras to buy are 1. do you have AC power available at the camera, and 2. the range of your Wi-Fi. If you have AC power the cameras will record 24/7. Without, they use rechargeable batteries and only record when they detect movement. I use NEST. I get notifications on movement or sounds and can check my cameras from anywhere. RING now has a nice outdoor floodlight with a camera. So you can just replace a floodlight that is there and have 24/7 recording with notifications. Doing it without Wi-Fi would require hard wired cameras. Adding Wi-Fi would probably be cheaper and less hassle. This is 2020 and digital home systems are becoming very popular. Being compatible with whatever home system you choose would be a consideration. NEST was purchased by Google and is part of “Google Home”. I’m not happy with that, Google is too big to give any real customer support, but that seems to be the norm now.

Rutherford county will require masks starting Wednesday. But I don't see in the news stories what the penalty is for those that refuse.

Most any name brand circa $300 benchtop drill press will work for general drilling jobs around the house. I’ve never built a suppressor, but I would think the tolerances required to position the bore to the centerline of the barrel mount would rule out a drill press, unless you have an accurate XY table that allows you to sweep it in to the centerline.

Those stories say 300 labs were told to only report positive cases, the state didn’t need the negative results. Common sense would tell us that information can’t be used for information on the percentages. The governor blames the labs. 300 labs misunderstood the message from the state? That doesn’t make sense. Tennessee doesn’t have the ability to process our own tests here and send them to labs in Florida?

Personal Self Defense Encounters?
DaveTN replied to Dennis1209's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I doubt billionaires are paying the legal fees for any average criminals that are arrested. But… you don’t need an attorney if you aren’t charged by the DA. And they aren't doing it for free, they are getting as much money as they can rob, or as much merchandise as they can carry. -
How much clearance do you guys leave on the tube and baffles? Because unless you are really luck or very accurate, I would think a hand drill or even a drill press would lead to a baffle strike.

That’s the question with opening the schools. Can the kid transmit it to parents or grandparents. There are those that argue both ways; they can/can’t. I’ve not seen anything that leads me to believe they know how or where anyone picked up the virus. Without knowing that, they can’t answer the question. Those of you that lived through the AIDS virus remember that for YEARS they said how the virus CAN and CAN’T be transmitted. They didn’t know then and I don’t think they know enough about this virus or how its transmitted to know now. It was political then (kids in school, and first responders) and its political now.

They don’t know. They know there are false positives. They also know there are people that are positive and have no symptoms.

What gun laws would you like to see passed in TN
DaveTN replied to billyblazes's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
It is legal under Tennessee law, although it specifically says it does not apply to machine guns, and some other things. I have no idea why it hasn’t been tested in our 6th Federal District court. I assume it is either because no one wants to spend the money to test it, or they think the ruling will be the same as the Montana ruling. The state says it’s legal and the Feds say its not and they will put you in prison. The SCOTUS hasn’t heard a case on it, and it doesn’t appear they will. The Ninth Circuit panel unanimously ruled that Congress could regulate the internal manufacture of firearms within Montana because the creation and circulation of such firearms could reasonably be expected to impact the market for firearms nationally. I suspect the SCOTUS would rule the same. With pot, many of those states voted on it in a public vote. A vote on machine guns wouldn’t pass in Tennessee or any other state. But it would open the door for a vote on AR’s. I have my doubts that would pass. Why hasn’t it been tried by a manufacturer? Because you would need to find a manufacturer of firearms, suppressors, SBR’s, etc. to sell you one. They would lose their FFL and be charged with a Federal Weapons charge is my guess why it hasn’t happened. As I said, all that would need to happen is test it in the 6th. If they ruled the TFFA is constitutional and you had two Federal Districts disagreeing, then I suspect the SCOTUS would hear the case. But it still wouldn’t get you machine guns; it would get you suppressors and SBR’s. Again, I don’t know for sure why it hasn’t been tested here. -
If nothing else we are seeing how the manipulation of numbers can be applied to show anything you like. Just like they do with violence involving guns or the Presidential poll numbers.

On any given day the Feds could go in and arrest and seize the assets of anyone selling pot. That’s not a legal precedent I want to see applied to guns. -

Tennessee’s is basically the same as Montana. The 9th Federal District has shot down Montana’s and the SCOTUS has refused to hear an appeal. The SCOTUS would possibly hear it if we had a conflicting ruling out of our 6th, or some other Federal District hearing the same type case. But it appears to me with the latest cases, they are giving the states wide leeway on “reasonable restrictions” and don’t really want to get into ruling on whether the restrictions implemented are reasonable or not. The SCOTUS refused to hear 10 different appeals last month on firearms restrictions. That says a lot. Here is the info on Montana. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montana_Firearms_Freedom_Act -

HR 5717 - 2nd amendment be damned!
DaveTN replied to Randall53's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Hence my previous statements about not wanting any Federal intervention on our carry laws. Normally I would say this has no chance of passing and its just so the left can say they are trying. Or that it’s a violation of States Rights and would not make it through the SCOTUS. But with what we are seeing now I’m pretty sure it would pass if the Democrats get control. -

At this point in time, I hope we can keep what we have. But if the upcoming elections go wrong, and with city government bowing down to the threats of violent thugs, that could all change; none of which I think many of us would like. I also want absolutely no federal involvement in my ability to be armed. NFA won’t be repealed, I just hope they don’t add a bunch of firearms to it. I’d like to see the laws changed to be able to use deadly force against burglars without having to wait for them to make entry into our homes. -
Personal Self Defense Encounters?
DaveTN replied to Dennis1209's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Seeing kids hurt is hard on even the most seasoned Officers. I’ve seen plenty of bad violent things committed by what people call “real criminals”, but I’ve never had a nightmare from them. I’ve had nightmares from things I saw traffic offenders do while working traffic; most involved kids. BTW...12 hours is too long for a street cop or dispatcher to work. Its dangerous for everyone involved. -
Personal Self Defense Encounters?
DaveTN replied to Dennis1209's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I made the mistake of volunteering to go to go to LEADS (Law Enforcement Agencies Data System) school at the U of I for a week, so I could party. Little did I know that meant I could be used to fill in for dispatchers when necessary. It gave me new respect for the dispatchers. It also made me drink a lot after work on the nights I had to do that. I’d take dealing with the crazies on the street any day over taking calls and trying to keep track of a bunch of cops. It was a very stressful job. -
Personal Self Defense Encounters?
DaveTN replied to Dennis1209's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I remember when someone here wanted to know why dispatchers send Officers when someone calls in about a man with a gun. They do it because it is there job to go find out why someone is calling. Our Chief would have fired a dispatcher for that. I’ve heard several times when an Officer was quizzing the dispatcher about why one of our frequent flyers was calling, and a Command Officer get on the air and Say “Go find out!”. Some people, sometimes have to be reminded what their job is.
