  1. To me that sounds like saying you should let the cops search your car if you have nothing to hide. Cops have a right to privacy too. Personal conversations go on, tempers sometimes flair on calls, I was a good cop and I wouldn’t want one. Yes, I have said things that would probably have gotten me in trouble had they been recorded. You get tired of fighting all sides; I can see why they have a hard time getting good cops anymore. It will be like the reason we can’t get a good President; anyone that would be good at the job doesn’t want it.
  2. Exactly. I know for a fact that my shot placement in a real word shooting is not what it is at the range. I also am pretty sure that if I had taken the time to get a sight picture I would be dead. But you can’t argue with the “shot placement” crowd. What they are saying is valid. Their ability to do it is what is in question.
  3. No, reading it is not first hand. I’m talking about having been in a shooting, being a first responder to shootings, or even setting up your own experiments on your own; phone books, watermelons, ballistic gel, whatever. I was talking with a young man that was telling me 9mm’s of today are as powerful as a .357Mag. When I asked him what kind of .357 mag weapon he got his experience with he said he has never fired a .357Mag. When you hear stupid statements like that it usually doesn’t take much conversation to let them confirm they are stupid. His opinion means nothing.
  4. I wonder how many departments will want this and what strings will be attached to it.
  5. You have basically two groups: Group 1: Those that have witnessed or experienced firsthand what various calibers do, and applied that knowledge to their application. Group 2: Those that base their choice on what they read on the internet or what their Daddy told them. Let’s face it; there are a bunch of calibers for a range of different applications. If its people you care about you can probably have intelligent conversations with them when they want to know which calibers to choose (if you think you are qualified to have that conversation). If it’s someone that’s going to get all butt hurt and act like you called their kids ugly; there is no point.
  6. The overwhelming percentage of people do not carry a gun; that doesn’t make it right, or a good idea.    A .22 is better than nothing. If that’s all she feels comfortable with then it is what it is. A 9 or 40 does no good if she won't carry it. She needs to be educated on the rounds and think about the scenarios where she might need a gun. It’s all application driven. The mere presence of a firearm, any firearm, may stop an attack. The shooting of an unarmed perp with a .22 will probably stop an attack. Will a hit from a .22 make an armed attacker unwilling or unable to fire his weapon at her? Doubtful without an immediately incapacitating hit. She is making a decision about her life or the lives of those around her. She should be using the best round she feels comfortable with, can hit a target with, and fired from the highest quality most reliable weapon she can afford. You should be proud she wants to carry; maybe some training classes or help from local shooters would help her become more informed.
  7. So is that just a real long generic base that is not made to fit a 700SA? Seems like your front ring and scope is pretty far back, but can't tell without seeing it all.

    Land Value

I don’t know anything about land values in your area, but if it can’t be developed and it’s too steep to even run four wheelers on; it doesn’t sound like it would have much value to anyone except you. I may be way off base here but I would think you would be better off having someone else negotiate the price; if I was the seller I would think you would be willing to pay a premium. I wouldn’t want to show my hand just yet.

    Land Value

    What does that mean?
  10. No doubt, if you have the resources of Amazon, BestBuy or Sears; I would guess Buds Guns does not have that level of resources. But that’s just a WAG I don’t know that.
  11. Anything is possible. Antonio Sales was charged under 39-17-1302 for possession of a PLR-16 in Sumner County Tennessee. There is no case law because Sales made a plea agreement that required him to get rid of the weapon, in return charges were dropped. Rumor is that he could no longer afford the legal battle; but I don’t know that to be fact. The fact that BATF has deemed a firearm “legal” would help you in court; but I don’t believe it trumps state law or would keep you from being charged. We can argue the legalities all day long, but without case law the question you have to answer for yourself is this issue over a Sig Brace something you want to take on, and can you afford to do it?

    4g or uhd tv

I just bought a new 65” Samsung for the bedroom; already have a 65” Mitsubishi in the living room. I don’t know what 4G on a TV is, but I decided I didn’t want to spend the extra $4-500 for 4K. I wouldn’t pass up 4K on a good deal though (I just didn’t see any) The speed will be dependent on the speed of your network. When I sat my new TV up in the living room to test it out and do the updates I had it wired with an Ethernet connection on a 120 mbps network. Then I sat up the wireless on a 60 mbps network. I watched several Netflix movies and played with YouTube; no lags or issues on either wired or wireless. Then I moved it across the house to the bedroom. The wireless connection could not sustain the speed needed to watch HD movies on Nexflix or YouTube. It kept stopping, loading and starting again. I moved the wireless /modem/router into the same room with it and its happy again. I think your network will be more critical than the TV or service you are trying to use (Netflix, ect). Speed rules.
  13. I quit shooting pumps a long time ago (Getting old sucks). I recently decided I needed a semi-auto shotgun for a field toy. I have my eye on that 1100 Competition Synthetic; my friends will think I’m a snob.
  14. Unless you plan on playing in bar tournaments I would look at 8 ft tables (if you have the room); your guests that are pool players will appreciate it. The slate and the cushions are the key to the materials. The assembly of the slate and the level of the table are the key to the installation. I would think that a company that makes their own tables would have a good install team; but that’s just a WAG.
  15. I don’t know anything about Kincaid, but it appears from their website they are making their own tables and using real wood. That’s pretty impressive for a $1500 pool table.
  16. I don’t know what a gun snoob is, () but the express is a $300 shotgun for those that want cheap. If you want better fit and finish look at the Police or Wingmaster models.
  17. I would not have thought a VP would write something like that; it sounds like a low level IT guy that was butt hurt because there was a perception he couldn’t do his job. His “selling at a loss” comments are also ridiculous. Not many other gun dealers sold guns at a discount; they don’t have to. They did it to get new traffic and get buyers off the fence; its appears to have worked. Reasonable people already understand what happened; he didn’t need to explain to them. It sounds like he just wants to take a shot at the crybabies. It won’t matter to them and will just make them make that much more noise. I am a Bud’s customer and have purchased several guns from them. I didn’t have a problem with their “Black Friday” marketing non-sense, but I think his FB post was very unprofessional. However, apparently he isn’t interested in hearing comments from his customer unless they are positive; so I will post my comment about his childish post here.
  18. News reports say he testified he was carrying a Sig S&W40.
  19. It’s never been disputed that there was a fight and at least one round was fired in the car. I’m sure Wilson was scared to death. I don’t care if Brown was trying to surrender somewhere between round 3 to 5; he was an immediate threat and he was killed. The race issue was BS. However, I was amazed to hear Wilson gave a TV interview. That was ignorance beyond belief. Obama and Holder are still after him. I can’t believe any reputable attorney told him a TV interview would be okay.
  20. Your questions depend on many factors. The amount of drugs, where they were found, the state you are in and the discretion of the Officer. But you risk more than losing your permit. Court isn’t held on the street and you can be arrested for just about anything. Then it’s up to the DA to file charges. You would have attorney fees even if you aren’t charged. You could have substantial attorney’s fees and risk conviction/jail time if you are charged. Drugs and guns can carry heavy penalties and some Officers that might let some pot slide may not do so if a gun is involved. If I suspected/knew I was traveling in a vehicle with drugs; I wouldn’t carry.
  21. So we know he wasn’t arrested for murder or robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. Glad to see that’s their standard for no serious convictions.  But I watched a video of him committing robbery and assault. I’m convinced he was a thug and not an altar boy. He tried to commit murder but his victim killed him.
  22. I will give this a close look. Federal law, not state law stops me from having NFA items. I refuse to pay ridiculous amounts of money for suppressors, taxes, and attorney fees simply because an item is controlled by the Feds. The Montana Firearms Freedom Act tested the water. It was stopped by the 9th Federal District and the SCOTUS refused to hear it on appeal. SCOTUS won’t usually get involved unless there are disagreements by the Federal Districts. We should run our TFFA through the 6th District and see what happens.
  23. I used a revolver for my class. No one was standing around waiting on me; quite the opposite. However, teaching you how to reload quickly with speed loaders is not the job of an HCP instructor. What is the problem with the semi-auto that you can’t shoot it as well as a belly gun with a barrel under 2 inches? These classes are not aimed at teaching you to shoot, they are more about the laws and seeing if you meet the minimum requirements to hit a man sized target at a short distance. If you don’t have any friends at the range I’m sure there are probably some Clarksville forum members that would be willing to help you. EDIT: Nevermind I read it as being an HCP class; sorry. If it’s a defensive handgun class and the instructor isn’t geared towards revolvers; find one that is or take your semi-auto.
  24. I suspect this will end soon. The city has put the Police Chief in the position of issuing the permits. She can’t use the excuse they have created requirements that they don’t have the ability to fulfill. She will start issuing permits or be held in contempt would be my guess. The Mayor should be held in contempt with her.
