You must go through an FFL. The confusion with long guns is that you may purchase a long gun from an FFL in another state. Although many FFL's won't do it.

I have not talked to a single black (or any other minority) that thinks this is a race issue. Not one of them thinks a person (cop or otherwise) is not justified in using force when someone is attacking them or needs to wait to see if a weapon fires when it is pointed at them. But then I'm not talking with thugs that would say anything to tie the hands of Police.

Bratton is probably one of the most respected top cops in the world; yet he hasn't said much. He needs to get out in front of this, or pick a side if you want to call it that. I understand that he serves at the pleasure of the Mayor, but it's not like he needs to worry about a job. I don't think the cops will or should strike. That will only result in deaths, injuries and property damage of the innocent citizens. We are watching a battle between cops and criminals. The criminals and the people that make their living off racism are trying to paint this as a race issue; it is not. Cops are going to use whatever force they need when they are attacked or resisted. They are going to shoot first (hopefully) when a weapon is pointed at them; just as any of us would do. The cops will when this battle, but until the politicians step up and call these criminals what they are; the battle will drag on.

They will appreciate this as much as anything you can do.

This nutcase shot his girlfriend before killing these Officers. I doubt she had anything to do with these cases in the news. He was just a mental case that wanted to stir some crap on his way out; the world is a better place without him. It's hard for some when the person that is responsible is dead and there is no one left to hold accountable. Jackson and Sharpton are trying to make these cases about race because its job security for them. When guns get pointed at cops or people resist or attack cops; people get hurt. Sometimes it's the cops, sometimes it's the citizens, sometimes it's the criminals. I had the same talk with my kids about being stopped that the Mayor had with his; my kids are white. For the Mayor to tell his kid he is especially in danger because he is biracial is not only ridiculous, its racist; he shouldn't be the Mayor of NYC. He has lost the trust and support of the NYPD; time to go. Prayers to the families of the fallen Officers.

US appeals court deems gun law unconstitutional
DaveTN replied to The Legion's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I didn’t see anything that implied Adam Lanza’s mother denied he had problems. She didn’t agree with keeping him medicated and said he refused to take the meds. There was a gun safe in the home. We can only speculate as to whether or not be had regular access; but I’m pretty sure I could make anyone open their safe. My feelings on this are that a Judge should be able to take away a person right to bear arms if they are deemed a danger; and they should have the right to appeal. Since it doesn’t involve the risk of jail time they don’t have the option of a jury; but they should. Saying you can’t keep mental cases from owning guns is ridiculous at face value and won’t be upheld. “Committed to a mental institution†implies it was involuntary. I would like to know what he did to cause that to happen. -
In many states a cop is a cop 24/7 anywhere within the boundaries out the state; Tennessee is not one of them. However, TWRA Officers have not only state LEO authority they also have authority to enforce Federal law. Drug and traffic enforcement is the job of local law enforcement agencies. I wouldn’t know if they (TWRA Officers) are doing their job or not; do you think they aren’t doing the job they were hired to do?

There are plenty of court rulings on it; even SCOTUS. Do a search on "game wardens search without a warrant". If it is in plain view; they don't need to get a warrant.

I’m sure that right now the State AG (parents of the DA) and the Governor (parents of the Director of the TBI) are shaking their heads in disbelief while preparing to scold their kids.
-
I have never heard of anything like this. These two men best not forget who they work for. I predict a new Director of the TBI, and probably a new DA in the next election. When childish arguments cause the pulling of resources we pay for; something as gone very wrong. http://www.wsmv.com/story/27651241/tbi-pulls-support-from-24th-district-after-argument-with-da

Guilty verdict in German exchange student's death
DaveTN replied to waynesan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
As many of us have said before Castle Doctrine does not create a free fire zone; this is an example. If this perp was burglarizing the house he got what he deserved and it’s too bad this guy was convicted. But I’m not familiar with what the claims were. Were they claiming this guy was not a burglar? -
I’m not a hunter and don’t kill animals for sport. Awhile back I watched a documentary on NatGeo or one of them about a mountain lion in CA that killed a guy while he was working on his bike, mauled one of two girls that was walking and mauled an old guy that was walking with his wife. I’m surprised at the number of people that go traipsing around in the woods without a gun. When a cat that big is running into someone walking their dog; there is a problem. Look at the size of that cat, kids or adults would not have a chance against him. I would have done everything I could do with what I had available to me to tranquilize or capture that cat; but giving him a chance to get away would not be an option. I wouldn’t let my kids walk around in an area with a bunch of gang bangers around, and I would not allow them to walk around in an area where a cat like that had been seen. That cat screwed up getting around people and it cost him his life.

New York flags 278 gun owners as mentally unstable.
DaveTN replied to The Legion's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
So how do they get the information? Who is taking these cases to the court? The Feds want to keep guns out of the hands of everyone because some nut cases might get them. If they can pick the nut cases out; I don’t have a problem with that. 278 out of 20 million sounds like they really don’t have a good start yet. Sorry, but I know some mental defects that have absolutely no business with a gun. -
She should be counting her blessings that happened.

There are enough Mohel's that they get their own rifle type?

WOW! Sotomayor the lone voice of reason in 4th Amendment case
DaveTN replied to LagerHead's topic in General Chat
The driver consented to a search. This case probably would not have gone this far had he not done that. Don’t drive around with a broken taillight when you are drug trafficking. Sounds to me what the Officer did was a standard practice prior to this case. There have been a ton of court rulings that if the Officer made a mistake, but it was in good faith; the case goes forward. The word “unreasonable†is in the 4th amendment; it was put there for a reason. The Officer had permission to search and what he stopped the vehicle for he thought (and may well be) was a violation. Here is the law... -
Yes; it’s called Conservativezaprine. But you have to get it from a republican Doctor.

The only time deer hunting was outlawed in Illinois was from sometime in the 30’s to 1957 because deer were nearly extinct in Illinois from over hunting. Deer/Vehicle collisions for 1990 was 13,812, in 1995 it was 17,573 and 2013 was 15,328. I think your story is about the area around O’Hare; not the rest of the state. My insurance never went down. Cook County might have a SWAT team for deer; who knows what they do up there.

Nothing new; Pelosium has officially been around since 1976, but was first detected in 1962.

I am sure I am not violating any felony weapons laws. Most are common sense, some are very specific. Most of the people violating those laws know full well they are poking the bear, and they want to cry like babies when they get slapped. Most involve playing the NFA game or transporting across state lines. If you want to play that game; that’s great, but you sure better know the laws and rules.

I would not call the TWRA for any reason. I would ask your cousin if I could clean up the bait and leave a sign that hunting over bait is illegal. But I’m not a hunter; just looking at it from the legal side.

If you know anyone at a machine shop or plumping shop they probably have an abrasive cut-off saw. Short of cutting it off in a lathe; that will give you the best cut. However, The legality of this in Tennessee hinges on the word “designed†(39-17-1301. Part definitions) in the definition of a shotgun. Unless there is case law on this you could find yourself being the test case.
