  1. Oh I know they are out there; but they are not the norm. I’ve seen Miculek shoot six shots, reload and shoot six more from a revolver in less than 3 seconds. I’ve seen a guy throw 10 clays in the air, pick up a shotgun that was lying on a table and shoot all 10 before they hit the ground. But we mere mortals won’t pull that off. Someone that can shoot better scores with open sights at 600 yards against an opponent with a scoped rifle and a bipod is not your average shooter. That’s a fantastic skill set to have.
  2. The Police are involved; as a former cop I would suggest you don’t call him. He knows who she is and he knows she is your daughter; he obviously isn’t worried about that. If he can goat you into a threat the tables can turn quickly. The advice you gave your daughter is good advice; but it’s good all the time. Chances are if someone is going to grab a girl leaving a store it won’t be by someone they know. Teach her what situational awareness is.
  3. And I’ve never understood why anyone would want a rifle without optics. You would have to be a heck of a Marksman with open sights to even come close to a mediocre shooter with a scoped rifle.
  4. .223 is about as low recoil in a center fire rifle you will find. I have the Mossberg MVP in 223; it’s pretty soft shooting, high quality, and close to your price range. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/76665/Mossberg+MVP+VAR+24+HB+223+LAM+10RD I don’t know if this scope is okay or junk, but this might be a pretty good deal on a shorter barrel package. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/79797/Mossberg+27715+MVP+10%2B+1+223REM+18.5"+Predator+wScope
  5. Another hobbyist round. How about ramping up production of the ammo we need.
  6. That's ridiculous in an area with over 600K people. I guess the “must prove a need” is as good as a gun ban. I don’t like to see carry permit holders info published, but I would bet those 8 people are politicians that have no more “need” than anyone else. The good news is that their stunts could cause another SCOTUS ruling. They have ruled on “keep”, they have not yet ruled on “bear”. Although its hard to know how that would go.
  7. A 10% discount on a firearm would be a good deal. I have problems finding dealers that have what I want let alone trying to tie the purchase to one specific weekend; that might be tough.
  8. Is this used? Are there people charged by the DA when he knows they are legal and have a valid defense? The change is a good idea; you should not have to go to court if you are not committing a crime. I just wonder if it happens or has ever happened. Our local goofball doesn’t count; he was trying to get arrested, and refused to show the proper paperwork.
  9. The ACLU will not do anything to support gun owners. This a lame attempt for them to protect criminals. So what if they use license plate readers? How would that give them PC or RAS to stop you or search your car and seize weapons? It wouldn’t. Is there one shed of evidence anywhere that license plate readers are being used to make a database of gun owners? If they wanted that information it is already available to them. Sorry, I don’t support the ACLU on anything.
  10. Why would be need to choose one over the other? It’s YouTube; you can have both.
  11. If you decide to go that route you might want to go see this guy. He's with Edward Jones and has done better than anyone else I know of. He's also a nice guy. Brian D Coleman Edward Jones Financial Advisor (615) 890-5122 1608 Williams Dr Suite 100 Murfreesboro, TN 37129
  12. They will be looking at that info when they process your application. They will specifically check the state you surrendered your license from.
  13. When you got your Tennessee Driver’s License one of the questions was “Have you ever been convicted of DUI in any state?” How did you answer that?
  14. Motorcycles are pretty easy to work on. Why not make a “project” out of it? Maybe have someone go through the motor and rebuild the carb if you don’t feel comfortable doing that. Then buy the shop manuals and do the rest yourself.
  15. People get killed and seriously injured in fights all the time by people that have no formal training; and sometimes people go to prison for it. In a criminal case a jury will decide your fate based on your level of participation and the amount and type of force used. They will be “A Reasonable Person”. A civil case is a free for all and they will use anything and everything they can against you. The jury will decide if the victim gets actual damages. They can do whatever they like with punitive damages and everything from what you said and did to what you wear to court will impact the amount they award.
  16. Have you seen what pops up when you search “TGO” on YouTube? That Tex idiot that shot himself.
  17. That is quite a deal. That 96323 is $699.37 at Buds and $618.61 at Kentucky Gun. Even after you apply the $75 Remington rebate there is a substantial savings.
  18. No intent. No DA in their right mind would charge someone that got involved under these circumstances.
  19. He should have been charged with a felony but it says he was charged with "Battery". That is a misdemeanor.
  20. Back when I was a cop it seemed everyone had scanners and heard what was going on. I hear a lot of sirens and sometimes wonder what is going on. In this age of digital communications are the transmissions secured or can any scanner pick them up? Specifically Murfreesboro PD and Fire and Rutherford County SO.
  21. I’m not being nonchalant; he suffered a brutal attack. The only person I see “piling on” him is his attacker, the second guy gets the gun, a third guy appears to be holding his arm. The second guy appears to be asking them what happened before the video stops. The same thing cops would do if they arrived. The guy is 62 years old, I commended the bystanders for getting involved before he got hurt worse or the guy got his gun and killed him. Most onlookers would have been too scared to act. Blaming Wal-Mart or the concerned citizens that acted only takes away from what happened and the person responsible. He attacked a man for no reason other than he had a gun; he should do jail time.
  22. All of those require intent or state of mind. Who are you suggesting they could use them against?
  23. That appears to be a USA made Benchmade. At circa $100 for an auto knife that should be a heck of a deal, let us know what you think after you get it.
  24. I don’t have a Ruger scout, but it looks like you have two options. If you straddle the scope mount across the chamber you can use whatever rifle scope you want with normal eye relief. Or if you want to keep the fixed sights you can mount an extended eye relief scope on the rail in a mount that allows the fixed sights to see through it. Just depends on what you want to do with it. I wanted a scope on my Garand and used a handgun scope. It’s a Simmons Prohunter 2-6X32 that you can pick up for $110-$140. It works great and has withstood being shot on a 30-06. However, any long eye relief scope is not going to give you fast target acquisition.
