Yet another law enforcement question for those of you in the know
DaveTN replied to gregintenn's topic in General Chat
No, that’s not how it works. If the material can be identified it is either returned to the owner or seized as evidence. I wouldn’t pay the scrap yard a dime, and if I was the responding Officer they would give the name of who brought it in or they would be arrested also. Sounds like someone is giving you a BS story. -
Wyoming: Repeal Gun Free Zones Passes House
DaveTN replied to 300winmag's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Wyoming is a Constitutional carry state; Tennessee is not. You can’t create gun free zones in a state where it’s illegal to carry a gun. Until Tennessee recognizes carry as an individual 2nd amendment right; they don’t get to say squat about gun ban signs. -
Good example of why we have to have laws; some people are too stupid to do what’s right. I guess they will have to do like most other cities and outlaw it. He looks like a kid.
-
Might want to check and make sure the ranges you shoot at allow muzzle breaks; some don’t.
-
Your Doctor called them and told them you said you don’t have any guns; so they were just double checking.
-
What law would we be looking for that specifically addresses what a Game Warden or Police Officer can and can’t search with/without a warrant?
-
If you are over 18 Tennessee law does not prohibit you from buying a handgun. FFL’s are prohibited by Federal law and licensing provisions from selling you one; but that doesn’t mean it is illegal for you to purchase or possess one. Police are not bound by AG’s opinions and neither are the courts.

If you have never seen a gun go off without pulling the trigger; you have never seen a slam fire. Grabbing a gun when it is dropped or something hitting or getting caught in the trigger also happens. You can blame that on the handler; but it’s not an intentional trigger pull. They are mechanical devices and all mechanical devices can fail. If the muzzle isn’t pointed at a person while handling; the weapon can fire without killing someone. Many of the shootings are people who consider themselves well trained, but have become complacent and don’t think a gun can fire unless they intentionally pull the trigger. Couple that with Bubba doing an “action job” or installing components he is clueless about and you can has a recipe for disaster.

What's the deal with TN Firearms Association?
DaveTN replied to ron86654's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
It’s just noise; already a felony if it’s over $500. -
That may be a way to do it, but its NFA and it thousands of dollars.

American made is good. I doubt they can use the company name without permission; so I assume they have it. I also doubt the Feds will allow it if profits go back to Russia. But they may if the sanctions were merely grandstanding. The AK fires all the time because the tolerances are engineered for functionality; not accuracy. It won’t be a hard weapon to make. Its saving grace is it’s a 30 caliber; a weak 30 caliber compared to other 30 caliber rounds but still a 30. But even with its limited accuracy it is a devastating close quarter’s weapon; much better than a .223. In this country we have 308 AR’s to fill the role of this rifle plus ours has long range capabilities. I don’t see this being a popular seller unless they are cheap. But I could be wrong I would have never dreamed people would pay $700/$800 for an AK. Tennessee has plenty of stamping houses; get the work here.

Are you running it in a VMware virtual machine? Any idea about hardware, software compatibility issues? Are programs written for 7 or 8 supposed to run? I would assume 8 programs will, I wonder if 7 programs will?
-
Anyone running the preview? If so, what are your thoughts?
-
Anyone that thinks that should research the David Olofson case. He did 30 months in prison and is a convicted felon.

Every person does pay when something like this happens. These are reckless preventable incidents that lead to death. Legislation comes about because some gun owners are too stupid to treat a deadly weapon with respect. You see it on here all the time, gun owners saying that a gun can’t fire without pulling the trigger; nothing is farther from the truth. But if you are following the safety rules it won’t shoot someone if it does. Allowing a small child access to a loaded weapon is reckless. In this case the reckless parties got shot; but it usually doesn’t happen that way.

You jump out of your truck after an innocent person walking down the street and set in motion an assault that leads to the innocent person’s death and see if you are convicted in Tennessee. He was engaged in a criminal act before he ever got to Martin. Martin attacked in self-defense; unfortunately he didn’t have a gun. The fact that what he did is apparently not a crime in Florida doesn’t make it right. I still think justice will be served; it just won’t come from the courts. I mean no disrespect to you or anyone else; that’s just my opinion on what happened.
-
Too late.

It’s a gimmick that serves no purpose. It has two triggers. As soon as someone modifies it so one pull fires both rounds; it will be a an illegal machine gun. One trigger on a single AR would be faster.

I think I’m a pretty intelligent person that can sort fact from fiction. George Zimmerman should have been in prison a long time ago. And he eventually will be; he’s too stupid not to end up there. And yes, I want to see him go to prison. The jury got it wrong because of a weak Prosecution team. An innocent kid was chased down and murdered. An acquittal doesn’t mean he didn’t do it; it just means justice wasn’t served.

The M&P product line has an excellent reputation. I don’t have any experience with the “Sport” but Buds has them new $584. I doubt you could do a quality build for much less than that. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/71969/S%26W+M%26P15+Sport+30%2B1+223REM5.56NATO+16"

So put them up in Five Star hotels.

Oh I know they are out there; but they are not the norm. I’ve seen Miculek shoot six shots, reload and shoot six more from a revolver in less than 3 seconds. I’ve seen a guy throw 10 clays in the air, pick up a shotgun that was lying on a table and shoot all 10 before they hit the ground. But we mere mortals won’t pull that off. Someone that can shoot better scores with open sights at 600 yards against an opponent with a scoped rifle and a bipod is not your average shooter. That’s a fantastic skill set to have.
