  1. The whole idea behind freedom of the press is that they don’t have to censor what we read. They will play that video of the guy that blew a dump truck apart and let the jury put whatever name they like on what it is called. I would guess they will agree the term used is pretty accurate.
  2. This doesn't seem like an intelligent move on Tannerites part to me.
  3. So they knocked on the door, she answered it and talked to them, and they left?
  4. Yes, but you don't need a license.
  5. Yes, you must obey the laws of the state you are in. We aren’t required to notify LEO’s if we are stopped on a traffic stop, but if we go to a state that requires it we are.
  6. Unlike Illinois; Tennessee law does not deal with “concealed carry”. If you can carry; you can carry either way. You can also carry a handgun in your car in this state without a permit if you can legally own the handgun.
  7. Cops aren’t going to demand you surrender a weapon simply because of an emergency unless martial law has been invoked. Chances are better that during an emergency they would be disarming you because you are suspected of something. They probably aren’t going to have any in-depth conversations with you.
  8. Yes, it is required that they be posted at all entrances. It is a Class B misdemeanor punishable by fine only of$500. It’s one of the most debated issues here, but so far no one has posted that they have been charged with it. A few have had the law called; but the cops told them to leave and if they carried there again they would be arrested for trespass. One guy said he knew a guy, but he was carrying into a county building and from the penalty it sounds like he didn’t have a HCP. Carrying on school property is a whole different ball game; it’s a felony.
  9. I don’t want her fired; she made a stupid mistake. I want her to admit she made a mistake and apologize to the young boy.
  10.   Most of the tourist spots in Tennessee are posted. Look for the signs on the doors. Welcome. I moved here from Illinois and have a TN HCP. You can carry here, but of course Illinois won’t let us carry there. But hopefully that will change.
  11. For the same reason cars aren’t. Procedures will be a big deal and will cost the airline dearly. Most U.S. airlines have a procedure in place. But the bottom line is nothing is foolproof.

    Helmet Law

I was a cop when Illinois passed the seat belt law. Most cops were against it because we weren’t going to wear them. They assured everyone that they couldn’t be used for PC for a stop, and the only time they could be written was in an accident or with a stop for another violation. That didn’t last long. I didn’t wear a seatbelt on patrol and I never wrote a seatbelt ticket. I did use seatbelts in my personal vehicle and still today always wear one. I feel the same way about helmets. In TN I have to carry two helmets. A full face for on the highway and a lid for in-town riding. In heavy traffic you can’t afford to have anything obstructing your view or hearing even a little bit. I’m responsible for my safety and if I feel I don’t want a helmet on; that should be the end of it.
  14. I have never shot a .454 Casull. But I’ve shot a 500 S&W magnum; is it worse than that?

    Helmet Law

I moved here from a state that doesn’t require a helmet. I just asked my wife if my motorcycle insurance went up or down when we moved here. She said “It went up a little; but not enough to matter; why?” The insurance costs and health care costs is BS from the people that want the government to look out for them.
  16. This particular incident will be fixed due the public outrage. Unfortunately another school administrator with nearly 30 years on the job will have to have common sense explained to them. I’m sure there are plenty of intelligent teachers in our system. But teachers being allowed to make dumbazz decisions like this make them all a target of criticism. Teachers should be upset also and question the ability of administrators when they make decisions that defy common sense.
  17. Let her try a 308 AR while wearing good ear protection. She will be impressed with the power, every imaginable round available without trying to find or make designer rounds, 100 yards or 1000 it doesn’t matter, and you won’t be stuck with the ridiculous cost of trying to Suppress and SBR a 30 cal rifle.
  18. Depends on who makes it. Dyed Holsters can “gas out”. Here is what High Noon says about it. http://www.highnoonholsters.com/_Questions/_questions.html#62 Yes, skip the Kydex and go with leather.

    Helmet Law

People driving cars should have to wear helmets.
  20. Pulling a gun is not against the law. Pulling a gun and threatening someone without cause is a crime. There are no hard and fast rules of when you can kill someone; even with Castle Doctrine and those types of laws there is no free fire zone. “A reasonable Person”; that is what you will be tried on and convicted or acquitted. No one cares what you thought while it was going on. They only care what a “Reasonable Person” would have thought. I can think of several people in the last few years that were convicted and sent to prison after making the argument they were defending themselves. I can also think of one that committed murder and was acquitted. The common thread I see in a lot of these cases is people saying they were defending themselves/their children/their wife/ whatever. Protecting your family also means not leaving them to fin for themselves while you go prison.
  21. You want to have a conversation about whether or not you can kill someone because they scared you. That’s okay that conversation goes on here all the time. But the answer is always the same; it will be decided on the facts of YOUR case. Any little difference can make a big difference in whether or not you are arrested and then if you are convicted. But that’s okay we play “what if” here a lot also. Ask what you would like to know.
  22. You are a willful participant in a road rage incident. You have two choices; call 911 and hope for help or stop your vehicle and see what happens. If you had a gun, getting out and pointing a gun at someone will get you cuffed and stuffed. If you lack the ability to finish what you started, just sit there in a locked car. If they try to force entry or pull a weapon they have escalated it to a life threatening situation; then you can do what you have to do and deal with the fallout when it’s over.   Most Police Departments don’t let their dispatchers decide if you need help or not; when you call they send someone. If they are busy that may not work in the time frame you have. Our dispatchers would usually put it out as “Anyone close to (your location)?” Chances are someone is close or can get there quickly; but not always. If you are going to flip someone off; stop your car and deal with them.
  23. I kinda have, but still need a lot of different calibers of ammo. Semi-auto handguns (with the exception of 1911’s): 40S&W 1911’s: 45ACP Rimfire: 22LR Revolvers: 38/357 Rifles: mainly .308, but have .223, 30-06, 30 carbine, and 7.72X54R. So my consolidation is 10 calibers. But .40S&W and .308 is what I look to buy in bulk.
  24. I have never been there, but here is an article about it.   http://www.fortcampbellcourier.com/news/article_c6683ed8-0dee-11e4-bfc0-0019bb2963f4.html
  25. Spaying gasoline under pressure? What could go wrong. They are trying to get money through one of those on-line “fund me” accounts. Sure, that’s going to happen.
