Think how much nicer place the world would be if people knew how to drive, paid attention to their driving, and showed other drivers courtesy and respect.

For everyone one of your friends that are “good guys” there are people that think they are bad cops because their interaction didn’t go exactly the way they thought it should. Some people aren’t going to like anyone in a position of authority whether it is a cop, school teacher or supervisor at work. Compare it to being part of the HCP or firearm enthusiast group. A very large group of people hate you. They don’t think you are qualified to carry a gun in public and they will jump on any action by any gun owner to use as an example to try to stop people from carrying or even own guns. Look at the cross section of the people you know and work with. Most are good people but I’m sure you know some that you wonder how they find their way to work. You will find the same in a cross section of cops. I know and worked side by side with a lot of cops. Most good, some bad. Some were good cops that made a minor mistake, let a person with an agenda see that mistake and my god the world is coming to an end. If you start searching for cops that do bad things; you won’t have any problem finding the stories (even if they are made up). If you start searching for gun owners that do bad things; you won’t have any problem finding the stories (even if they are made up). The worse the cop sentiment gets; fewer good people will want to be cops and the problem will get worse. Just like your statement "Officer Kick Your Door Down and Search Your House Just because". I doubt that has happened to you or anyone you know personally. I have never seen a cop kick a door without cause (yes, I’ve seen it on the internet; I’m talking real life) I have seen cops kick doors and forced entry on more than a few occasions myself. Every one of them was justified; but I’m pretty sure someone is under the mistaken impression I violated their rights. I’m sure the changing laws also have a lot to do with it. When I started we were constantly being sent on “Family fights”. We were social workers and marriage counselors. We decided if there was truly a criminal situation or just a family issue that needed to be worked out. Then our discretion was taken away and if we went on a “Domestic Violence” call and anyone made any claims of threats or violence; hook them up and take them to jail. Same thing with DUI. Years ago if a cop stopped you and you had been drinking he had discretion; arrest you, call someone to come and get you or call you a cab. That is not the case today. If you are stopped now and are drinking the options are; ask you to submit to a BAC test, if you pass, send you on your way, if you fail or refuse; arrest you. I’m not saying Domestic violence or DUI isn’t a problem and those people shouldn’t be arrested. But the chances of those things being “borderline” and ending in anything other than an arrest are slim. And that is not the cops doings.

I don’t think so. I thought this was so funny I had to play it for everyone at work today. I would have done something like that. Glad the Chief is standing behind his Officer. http://www.cnn.com/2015/04/14/us/arizona-police-run-over-suspect/

If they just want new cars tell them to ask the insurance companies. It’s been many years ago but our department was offered free patrol cars for increased DUI enforcement. Our Chief turned them down because he said it implied we weren’t doing enough already. If you want more DUI enforcement you need more than free cars; you need more Officers and they wouldn’t pay for that. It’s a no brainer to be able to justify a DUI unit. Most larger departments have them. Nashville has a DUI unit. http://www.nashville.gov/Police-Department/Field-Operations/Special-Operations/Traffic-Operations/DUI-Unit.aspx

http://www.waltherarms.com/about-walther/ IMO Smith & Wesson should have got out of that relationship long ago. S&W has outstanding customer support; you see a complaint now it’s usually over a Walther. I wish S&W would do a run of that M&P22 handgun here.

The Bank of America Shootout wasn't a myth. 11 Police Officers and 7 civilians were shot because responding Officers didn't have the firepower to take down the perps. This isn't a myth... https://www.odmp.org/ I'm just saying you don't have to be dressed in subdued uniforms and wear masks to kill an active shooter with a M16, AR-15 or a Barrett.

I don’t know what the procedures are in this state, but when I was a cop we couldn’t be the complainant on a disorderly conduct charge. However, if I was driving and someone flipped me off I would stop them to see if everything is okay. It’s a pretty bizarre act and a good way to get a cop to stop you. I don’t know what those cops were doing to be dressed like that; they may have been executing warrants on violent suspects; who knows. But when you see cops being allowed to dress like that or wear subdued uniforms and masks, there is only one person responsible; the Chief or Sherriff. Unless there is a reason; it’s ridiculous and dangerous. Citizens being stopped or approached for routine traffic violations should not be stopped by cops that are not wearing a standard Police uniform.

I'm sure they will if your eyes are light sensitive.

I guess if you don’t have IT people $300 is cheap to keep your data. I would guess at some point the culprits will be discovered. If they are in this country it will cost them a lot more than $300.

Good grief. The cop on the ground that has been shot is covering himself and the cop working on him. They both showed a lot of restraint in not shooting the non-compliant dirt bag coming at them. That video will be used in a lot of training seminars.

I bought a GoPro Hero 4. When I researched them they didn’t have much competition. I already had a Canon 60D for photography and higher end video but wanted something small and fast with video quality better than a cell phone. I’ve used my GoPro on the dash. It’s very lightweight and sits on a stand. You can reposition it quickly and it has one button recording (or remote if you wish). Very versatile.

I would call and talk with customer support. Just because you have nothing to lose. However,From the Mueller website:

Well they aren’t really giving you anything for your scope, so all three options are about the same; no help from them. We can’t tell much from the pics. Who is it?

I’m confused? Your legislature just gave the dopers recreational marijuana but they want to tighten up gun control? Sometimes it’s just really hard to believe the stuff politicians will do.

Right to Bear Arms? Gun grabbing sweeping the nation
DaveTN replied to The Legion's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Doesn’t have to be California or NY; happens right here. I sold a guy a gun that was then stolen in a burglary of his home. The DA called him to testify during the trial it was his property. After the guy was convicted the DA wouldn’t give the victim his gun back. He said he had to show proof of ownership even after he had just used the guy to show that in court for a conviction. He had lost the receipt I gave him and I had to send him another one. I guess he got it back; I didn’t hear anymore. -
Defense to Prosecution bill
DaveTN replied to Capbyrd's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
If by the “other law” you mean the "Tennessee Firearms Freedom act”; it hasn’t been tested. The Feds say they will throw you in jail. I don’t know why someone has to be arrested to test this; but apparently someone does. Or it could have to do with Montana’s law being shot down in the courts. -
Prosecution for HCP holder carrying in banned location?
DaveTN replied to jgradyc's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
You decide what you want the numbers to show and then you manipulate the data and requirements to show what you want. At some point common sense will kick back in; you would have to really fight that. Even then I doubt it would be a "powerful" argument. It's no different than the gun haters posting that guns kill more people than traffic accidents. -
New Range in the Old RangeMaster Building in Memphis: Review/Rant
DaveTN replied to MphsTiger1981's topic in General Chat
He’s not a Federal agent anymore, he owns a Security Agency with 30 security Officers. So I would guess he wears the badge to identify himself in his day to day operations. Here’s a story… http://www.memphisdailynews.com/news/2015/apr/8/a-range-of-his-own/print -
Define "relative"? I would put a 350 with a 671 blower in it. They sell them here complete: http://www.bigalstoybox.com/

That's funny.

Ruger SR1911 is probably the best value out there right now. It’s a quality build, it’s accurate, and it’s not much more than the imports. I’ve owned most flavors of American made 1911’s and currently own a Ruger SR1911 and an S&W SW1911. You really can’t go wrong with a Ruger, Smith & Wesson, Kimber, or the upper end of the Springfield line. What is your nightstand gun now?

From the stories I read the man was stopped for a taillight out and ran because he had a warrant for failure to pay child support. We don’t see in the video what happened during the initial confrontation, but we see he is no longer a threat and pretty far away when he is shot. It appears pretty clear to me that the Officer picked something up and then threw it down beside the suspect. It wouldn’t matter if he took the cops taser; he was too far away to use it. If the cop shot him when he was taking it; it would be a different story. The cop obviously has problems; he was fired and arrested for murder in three days. It won’t matter what that the cop thought (same as it doesn’t matter what we think in a shooting), it will boil down to what a jury believes they would have felt in the same situation when they have all the facts that are available.

As it applies to the political gun debate you will look silly if you try to say that an AR-15 isn’t an “assault Rifle” because it isn’t fully automatic. A well trained shooter (or even a poorly trained one in a target rich environment) does not need a machine gun to inflict the same damage as an M-16. If you find yourself taking that stand; you have lost already.

Know your weapon and how it functions without question. Comparing a 1911 carried with safety off to other semi-autos is apples/oranges. Not all accidental/negligent discharges are from someone intentionally pulling the trigger. If it happened with a 1911 being carried with the safety off we would happily put that in the negligent category. Everything is application driven. Some so called “safeties” are not safeties at all but “features”; like magazine disconnects or key locks. If they don’t fit your application; don’t use them or don’t buy them. But they aren’t going to go away because there is a market for them. Firearms are mechanical devices; they can fail. Safeties can fail. If they do fail and proper handling techniques are being employed; no one gets shot even if the weapon fires.
