  1. I don’t see the Brady Campaigns name on the suit; they were sued by the parents of one of the victims.
  2. .308 Remington 700; just like everyone else.
  3. My heart goes out to the families of the innocent victims. Hate crime? Just when IS murdering nine people NOT a hate crime? Unfortunately there isn’t much that can be done until these types do something or a family member gets involved; cops can’t do anything. There were a lot of people on here up in arms when the FBI went to the house of the guy that started asking people to come by and pick him up so they could go out killing people. He was a nut case and should have been charged criminally with any plea bargains requiring commitment in a mental health facility. Many seem to forget that victims and potential victims have rights. In this case the victims’ rights were violated with extreme prejudice.
  4. What law prevents the GA seller or the TN dealer from collecting sales tax?
  5. There have been a few threads lately about the “Good Ole Days”. One thing I see all the time that is significantly different from the good ole days is what people will say when they think they are protected. When I was running around as a young man (circa 70’s, 80’s) we had all the things they have today. Road rage; we had it. But if you participated in it, it would usually end with someone taking an azz beating and the cops weren’t called. Arguments, bar fights, etc.; same thing, you either shut up, left, or threw down. As a cop in the late 70’s and early 80’s I responded to many of those types of calls. We had what we called “Mutual Combat”. If you got in a fight in a bar or with your neighbor because you couldn’t keep your mouth shut, and then wanted the Police to arrest them; it generally wasn’t happening if you were a willing participant. I told them it was mutual combat and if they were adamant that they wanted to file a complaint I told them I would arrest them both and let the States Attorney make the call. (They wouldn’t prosecute two willing participants running their mouths that led to a fight anyway.) I’ve seen many people say things and show disrespect that I’m sure they wouldn’t do in front of a person. You have responsibility for the things you say and do. You have anonymity on the internet (to some degree) but not so much out in public. If you argue with someone to the point of name calling; you shouldn’t get to file a complaint if you get your azz beat. The cops should tell you “Don’t be stupid next time.” and leave. Of course with our liberal bleeding hearts making a big deal of it the cops can’t handle it that way anymore. Today those bleeding heart liberals think they can say whatever they want and if someone punches them out; they will shoot them. That was murder in the good ole days. Is my thinking messed up on this?
  6. I sure someone will post a link to it, but basically it just removes the criminal charge of carrying on posted parking lots. Your employer can still fire you. Tennessee is an employment at will state; they don’t have to give a reason unless you have an employment contract. If you are union; you do have a contract. Yours will boil down to whatever is stated in your contract. If your contract doesn’t address it; your union officials need to find out from the company what the policy is. Then it can be addressed at the next contract negotiations.
  7. If you can’t place your finger on the trigger without the weapon discharging when you want it to, one of three things is happening. 1. They are using the wrong weapon for the application. 2. They don’t have enough experience with the weapon. 3. Something is wrong with the weapon. We never get to hear the details of what the Officer/person said happened.
  8. I am alive today because of “good” Doctors. A Doctor and a Surgeon saved my life in 2010. Like any other profession they had bad doctors back in day, and they have them today. They used daVinci in my surgery, and recently they did a flu test in 15 minutes and gave my wife drugs that knocked it out in a day. So… this is another case of the good ole days weren’t that great.
  9. You can’t pull the trigger if your finger isn’t on it; and that shouldn't be an issue. They are going through the same learning curve Officers did went they went from revolvers to Tupperware. I want to know why the guy had his finger on the trigger when he fell over a baby stroller. Or are they trying to imply the fall fired the weapon?
  10. Well....they tied the hands of their own Officers by not letting them profile gang bangers in high crime areas. So guess now they will have the Feds step in and do their job for them. Man NYC is a mess.
  11. So what can’t they just ask him to leave or refuse him entrance? I think the attorney’s had to have a case with some merit to get an injunction. Is this goof balls argument that the zoo is a public place and they can’t post it?
  12. I’ve been planning on getting one, but GoPro has announced they will be releasing one next year. I might wait to see what they offer. Putting elevation limiters on them would make sense. A drone hitting a prop or being sucked into the intake of a jet could be catastrophic. The restricted airspace around DC has been in place for years. I wonder if a drone activates the NORAD laser warning system? I love technology and the technology we have today will make drones a pretty cool hobby. However, as with everything else; a few stupid people will cause problems for all.
  13. Automatic weapons and an armored van, multiple suspects in multiple locations? I’m guessing it will turn out to be one angry man, with semi-auto weapons, in a van acting alone. It wasn’t too well planned or thought out.
  14. Great, now I have to go buy............... some Doggie pee pads.
  15. It will be interesting to see what the court decides. Is the issue here that Missouri allows open carry of a rifle and that businesses can post, but public places can’t?
  16. I saw no quotes or mention of a Police Chief or any other cops; what did the Chief do?
  17. Yes, it covers all states no matter where you live. You can create a castle anywhere you like and then you can create a free fire zone around it. If you shoot someone and then aren’t really sure if they were a threat; it’s okay, just drag them inside. As long as they are inside the cops can’t do anything. It’s true; I have read it on the internet.
  18. It’s a States Rights issue. The Supremes have ruled on “Keep” but they will delay ruling on “bear” as long as they can. If they rule you have a right to bear arms with no state regulation; there are states that will not comply.
  19. All depends on how the DA feels about it. That’s usually how it works and how a jury will see it, but Zimmerman was the primary aggressor when he murder Martin. But I think that was just a case of the Prosecution not making it clear to the jury that Martin was defending himself from an unprovoked attack.   It was a bar fight until guy 2 pulled a knife. If I was the investigating Officer I would not charge guy 1; it’s self-defense. However, that would be up to the DA. As far as I was concerned as a cop if you are involved in a mutual altercation, such as a bar fight, you don’t get to bring a deadly weapon into it. You walk away, win, or take your azz whipping. If guy 2 died; so be it, if he lived I would have charged him with aggravated assault. I don’t buy into this “You could die from getting hit”. If someone believes that they shouldn’t engage in behavior that will get them punched. Back in the day we called it “Don’t let your mouth overload your azz.” I don’t know what they call it today. Bottom line is that every case is different because it will be judged on the actions and facts of that incident.
  20. It’s not a God given right: it’s an inalienable human right. And that doesn’t change whether you are here, England or France. What changes is what the local laws and the courts recognize. States here claim that they have the right to control where and when an individual will carry. You can disagree with that; but that’s how it is until the SCOTUS rules on that.
  21. Thanks. Oh I have no doubt they are nice. I just can’t justify a lot of money for a knife. I don’t see me becoming a knife collector; to me its just a tool that I will use. I don’t have an auto-knife right now so I’m looking at picking up the Smith & Wesson M&P for just under $100. Maybe I’ll upgrade later.
  22. Possibly, but there wouldn’t have been anything clear about it. At the time the truck came at him he would have been justified, but he didn’t have time. After the truck went by the threat was over and he turned around and chased it.   When the driver was head butted with the motorcycle helmet and hit the ground while being confronted by two guys he could have shot and claimed self-defense.   But neither case would have been clear cut, and both probably would have gone to trial.   It appears pretty clear to us that the guy in truck tried to run him off the road. But I’m sure he would have claimed it was an accident, he was reaching down to pick something up, etc.   To me the only thing that is clear cut is that this is a case of mutual combat. The second bike rider should not have head butted the guy and they possibly could have had the truck driver arrested. Although as I say he would claim it was not intentional.   They should have settled it right then with no guns involved.
  23. He’s wrong. I was arrested over 30 years ago in Illinois for having a gun in my car; it was dismissed. I bought guns over the next 30 years in several states with no problems. In Tennessee I was refused twice. I appealed and they were both approved. The TBI told me it was something Illinois was reporting. I told them what it was and that it was dismissed. I told them even if it wasn’t it was a misdemeanor and would not disqualify me. They said it could be a felony in Tennessee. But they approved both transactions. I have friends and family in law enforcement in Illinois; they told me Illinois wasn’t reporting anything on me other than traffic. So I knew it had to be the Feds. You can pay and get a background check through the Feds; I think it was $25. I thought; well I can apply for a C&R license for $30 and it will include the background check. It worked, the BATF sent be a letter explaining that the gun charge didn’t have a disposition. They explained that I needed to contact the Court Clerk and get a copy of the disposition and submit it. I did and got approved. When my daughter went to the clerk’s office to get the paperwork they told her it happens a lot. They resubmitted it to the Feds and I haven’t had any problems since. This may or may not apply to you; hope it helps.
  24. The 3D printing arguments are ridiculous. There are plenty of sites that have models of uppers and lowers; some are correct, some aren’t. It is perfectly legal for me to make my own guns; real guns made of metal not POS toys made on a 3D printer. So they are concerned about people that have 3D printers but not those who have the tools to make the real deal? Their concern seems to be mass production. As soon as someone starts manufacturing and selling or transferring firearms to other people it doesn’t matter how there were made or where the plans came from; they get arrested and face prison time. I guess if they want to register 3D printers; mills and lathes will be next?
  25. I do not doubt your word. What happened is immaterial other than what was reported on your record. If you weren’t arrested the Cleveland incident wasn’t it. But I suspect you were booked into jail; that is an arrest. You may not have been charged by the DA but the arrest is still there. If there is not arrest; there is nothing to expunge. Have you called the TBI to see what is being reported? Usually these kinds of cases are because there is no disposition on the arrest. Or it could be there is confusion on your identity. If it is the Cleveland incident people there can fix it. Sounds to me like someone is pulling your leg on the 10 year thing. Your arrest may have been submitted to the Feds but Cleveland didn’t follow up with a disposition. They can submit a disposition. If you want an attorney maybe one of the forum attorneys will respond, or any criminal attorney in your area should be able to help.
