  1. What part of that is not clear? “Reasonably believes”? A cop says the guy was acting suspicious; who is the world is going to say “No, he wasn’t”? That makes no more sense than you implying that a Police Officer is required to subject himself to some higher degree of danger simply because he has a job where people may try to kill him. The only way that could come up is in a trial or citizen’s complaint. I’m not aware of anything that stops this guy from making a citizens complaint if he thinks the Officer was out of line. Yes, he has a dangerous job and it is beat into his head from the day he starts that if he is killed it will more than likely be because he didn’t have control of the situation. You watch enough videos and read enough training reports of cops being killed because they missed the smallest details and you quickly learn to control the situation. And unless someone is standing beside that cop when he disarms someone, and they see what he sees; they don’t have squat to say about and never will. (Hopefully)
  2. I want my steak rare. I tell them “knock off its horns wipe its azz and show it a picture of a fire.” I usually don’t get rare; they tell me they aren’t allowed to do that.
  3. You follow your instincts. We can’t tell from that video what that Officer saw or why he did what he did. And the law doesn’t require him to explain it. Being concerned about it is certainly your right; staying alive is his right, and his duty to his family. A Memphis Police Officer was just shot to death because he walked up on a convicted felon that was in possession of a minor amount of pot. You never know what people will do. An Ohio (I think) Police Officer was shot to death while testing a DUI suspect that was armed and had a carry permit. When he tried to cuff the suspect a fight ensued and he was shot. The Carry Permit holder then stood over him and shot him two more times. Hindsight is 20/20. Maybe if that Officer had disarmed him the moment they made contact; he would be alive today. Maybe not; who knows. Cops are shot all the time and many times it’s not a hardened criminal but someone that is emotionally upset, drunk, or on drugs. Even though I am not required to do so; I will notify the Officer that I have a HCP and I am armed. Then there will be no surprises and he can let me know how we will proceed.
  4. Gun gets snatched open carrying in an unsecured holster; what a surprise. Goes to show how easily someone could disarm him. He should have had a secure holster; especially riding a motorcycle.
  5. The law allows him to carry a gun and they law allows the Officer to take it. By the time he “became a threat” the Officer (or anyone else) could be dead. I couldn’t hear the audio very well but it appeared the Officer was courteous; wasn’t he? The only mistake I saw the Officer make was putting that gun in his back pocket. If he was overreacting he would have put him on the ground at gun point.
  6. It’s not an issue of which system is better, I need to run some programs that will run in 7 but not 8. Also, once I have an image of 7 Pro I can do the upgrade to 10 Pro (instead of 10 home) to see if it will run stuff 8 wouldn’t run (which I doubt).
  7. It was in legacy mode.
  8. Moving on and picking “Install” I get… With "Partition 4: OS_Install" highlighted it says "Windows cannot be installed to Disk 0 Partition 4. (Show details) "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style." Last time I deleted the partition and was supposed to then be able to install to it. That didn't work; not only could I not continue the install I couldn't load the Acronis image of the drive. I had to restore from disks with a factory image. Can I do anything from here, or have I hosed it again?
  9. Pick Repair... "This version of System Recovery options is not compatible with the version of windows you are trying to repair. Try using a recovery disk that is compatible with this version of windows." None of the F keys do anything. Pick OK and I'm back at the install now screen.
  10. I disabled “secure Boot” in the bios, used f11 for boot options, picked the DVD drive, it booted off the DVD, said “loading files”, now it’s just sitting there displaying the “Starting Windows” with the logo.
  11. I’ve ask this on a computer forum, but I’ve gotten some good computer info here before so I thought I would throw this out… I have an MSI GT70 that came with windows 8.1 (not Pro) it has a GPT disk with UEFI boot mode. I want to install Windows 7 Pro. I do not care if I lose any data, as long as I can get through the install. I have an Acronis TI2015 image of the drive (GPT). I followed some instructions on the MSI website that told me to install Windows 7 choose “advanced”, pick the drive the OS was installed on and delete it. It said then windows would format and install on that partition. That didn’t work, windows just said it couldn’t install on that partition (after it deleted it). I recovered the partition with the Acronis image. I have read so much conflicting info on how to go about this… I am at a loss. It appears that I need to convert the drive to MBR and wipe out all partitions. I can do that with Acronis Disk Director (I think). My concern is that I don’t know if the Acronis image will be able to reimage the drive back to GPT partitions if I screw up and need to reinstall it. Thought I would ask here and see if I could get some better info or a better plan. Thanks. I have Acronis True Image 2015 Disk Director 11 Home New Windows 7 Pro DVD

  13. Their decisions are not opinions; they are case law. Only the legislature or the courts can change or interpret law.   He could, he is an elected official of the County.   Enough to overrule a DA or stop a court from hearing a case? No. Does he have that much pull in GA?   No, entrapment has nothing to do with this. Wrongful arrest or prosecution laws would pertain; but only to the written or case law, not an AG opinion.
  14. No lawyer either, but here’s a free bump. I would guess the situation would depend on the accuracy of that statement, together with whether or not both companies agreed at the time of the contract.
  15. What internet provider doesn’t support an Ethernet connection? (if I'm understanding what you are saying correctly.)
  16. Certainly you can be charged. That’s why they call it an “opinion”. The AG doesn’t make law; he is interpreting what he thinks the law is. A Judge is not bound by his opinion and could disagree. If you decide to “test” a law you should talk with the attorney that will be representing you in your case.
  17. Are you copying and pasting from a word processor? Does it do it with the BBCode Mode switched off? Although…. You do have a MAC so it must certainly be the fault of a PC somewhere.
  18. It's well said; it just didn't come from Clint.
  19. It happens now. You can't go out and shoot down a Police helicopter. Boeing is building one heck of a UAV that can stay aloft for days and is being outfitted with extremely high resolution cameras that will record everything. I'm sure its use will become common place.   Unless there are laws against it; of course it’s okay for a private citizen. If there are laws against someone flying a drone over your property; call the cops and have them arrested.
  20. Expectation of privacy is more of a legal test than a law. What KY law did the drone pilot violate? I would expect the state has some kind of peeping tom laws, but I doubt they would apply. Even the guy that shot the drone down said he didn’t know what it was doing. Apparently he felt that simply crossing his property line justified his actions.
  21. So you think this guy can convince a Judge that he didn’t put those neighbors that were outside in danger? He fired a shotgun in the air in a residential neighborhood at a device that was no danger to anyone. Are we (or the Judge) supposed to believe that a person that reckless was for one minute concerned with where his shotgun blast went or where that drone dropped?
  22. How’s that different from those that want to outlaw 50 cals and “assault type rifles” for the very same reasons? ISIS using C4 and a drone? Why not just use an RPG? Off the top of my head I can think of far more accessible and just as deadly delivery systems that are less noticeable than a drone with C4 and can carry far more weight than a drone.
  23. Of course they should be cited by whatever agency has jurisdiction. The drones that interfered with firefighting aircraft should be heavily fined and if anyone is hurt because they are hampering firefighting efforts they should be charged criminally (as I’m sure they would be if identified). My guess is that the drones will be required to register and emit an identifiable signal and anyone caught flying one without it will be cited.
  24. Okay, what happens to you if you shoot a trespasser who poses no threat to you?
  25. I wouldn’t have taken it from the victim as evidence; it had no bearing on the charge.
