Dumb Question about parking lots
DaveTN replied to chipperi's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
When did that happen? I’m too lazy to go through all of it again, do you happen to know a TCA number I should be looking at? -
Another vote for sticking it out here. I have traveled a lot of the world and have no desire to leave this country anymore, even for vacation.

Left handed OWB holster for Diamondback 380

When I carry my J-frames or K-frames I carry a speed strip. You can’t carry speed loaders without them being in a pouch; they will get twisted or punched. When carrying revolvers I do so knowing that if I need more than a cylinder full; I’m in trouble. The chances of that happening though are probably about same as winning the lottery. If I’m going to be someone where I believe the chances are greater I carry a gun with more capacity or one that uses magazines.

That’s impossible the math doesn’t work. However I have heard dealers making ridiculous claims like that on the radio here. When you check you will find that payment amount is for the first three months; then it goes to the regular amount. You can also make the payment be whatever you like with enough down payment. Leasing is simply borrowing a given amount for a given time. It could be done by the leasing division of the manufacturer, some large dealerships have their own lease departments, and some banks will also do leases. The interest rate will be much higher through banks than if you were just borrowing money because their risk is higher.

I don’t keep up on NFA, so I leave that to those who do. Since you have an HCP, you can carry a loaded rifle as long as a round isn’t chambered. Prior to us being able to do that I wanted something with more firepower to carry in my trunk should the need ever arise; almost certainly never. I carried a KelTec PLR-16 in the trunk. It’s a handgun and could be loaded. It offers everything a SBR offers except government intervention and is $500. So why mess with NFA? Now I can carry whatever long gun I like so it doesn’t matter.

I’m kinda surprised that I see many stories of how you can buy parts or skirt the law on machine guns by people that would wear out Google on any other law. I have friends that know my machining skills; they have asked if I could convert an AR15 to fully automatic. My answer is “yes”. When they ask why I don’t do it my answer is “Prison”. However, I have no desire to own a fully auto weapon; I can turn cash into empty brass fast enough without one. And I sure don’t want the expense of defending myself in court if I win, or going to prison if I lose. I can’t think of anything I need or want that I would pay the government for the privilege to own; the costs are ridiculous. I feel that someday suppressors may be legal to buy without the Feds involvement. If that happens the price will drop to where it should be.

You are disagreeing that the Officer couldn’t have seen something we didn’t see when the camera is on top of the bikers head? What I (and others) have been saying is that you don’t know what that Officer saw. But as I also said; you have recourse. If a cop disarms you and you feel your rights have been violated you are free to make a complaint or sue him.

Who on this forum said it’s okay to disarm someone that is not a threat?

I’ve owned several M&P’s and have three right now; all in .40S&W. I’ve shot many Glocks, but never owned one. The M&P is American Made, even the mags; that’s important to me. The M&P is an excellent firearm.

I would check with Remington; they still make the 572... https://support.remington.com/BOLT_ACTION_MODEL_770™/060_Getting_Parts_and_Service

Absolutely nothing. But the posts he said were from Cops were posted on a military “Special Operations” forum. I was just curious if he was a “special Forces Operator”.

The Oath Keepers are protecting the Tin Foils Hats?

Thanks for sharing our comments. Are you a Special Operator?

I wasn’t trying to say he couldn’t understand. I was simply saying I don’t believe that he would put his life in danger because he believes it’s a violation of someone’s right to disarm them. When your senses tell you to disarm someone; any cop will follow that. To pretend otherwise is ridiculous. But I really can’t have an intelligent discussion about that because I couldn’t see the guy in the video, didn’t see what the cop saw as he was walking out of the store, and didn’t see what he was doing when the cop disarmed him. It must be these old eyes, because some folks here saw a lot more than I could see. I don’t mind anyone voicing their opinion on what they think they would or wouldn’t do, but don’t imply that a cop is expected to put themselves in danger because a person has a carry permit, or is open carrying a gun…. It’s ridiculous. Now having said that could this cop be someone that disarms everyone he stops because he doesn’t think they should carry? Of course that’s possible; but I can’t make that leap on what I saw.

I’ve seen people that I suspected were burglars, but waited for a traffic violation to stop them. I have testified in court that I used a traffic violation to stop the vehicle to look in it and talk to the occupants; never had a problem with it. I was taught that when you are working District Patrol or Drug Enforcement the vehicle code is one of the best tools you have. Did you never use a traffic violation to stop a suspicious person when you were a Police Officer?
-
Isn’t that what he was doing? Somewhere between the time he saw the guy and the time the guy was taking his gloves off the cop saw something that made him decide to disarm him. I don’t know what that was. How is disarming him a violation of his rights? Do we have a right to carry under the 2nd amendment? If so why are we paying for an HCP?
-
So the problem you have is that it’s either a normal stop (if there is such a thing) or a full blown felony stop, no middle of the road? You didn’t see anything in that edited video for the Officer to be concerned about, therefore it couldn’t have happened? You are having trouble understanding why the Officer disarmed him because you didn’t see what the Officer saw. Do you think that is a possibility?

I just had the opposite happen to me. Friend and I went and had steak. The waitress knocked over a 24 oz. beer on me. Not one drop of it missed me. It was real cold beer and I was soaked. It was okay though we ate dinner and had a couple more beers; the manager picked up the whole check.

I don’t mind discussing it with you at all as long as it stays courteous. As I said before; go do it for a while and then give us your observations. Until that happens you are making statements you know nothing about. Follow the law; Tennessee law. You live in a state that does not recognize your right to bear arms. They can do that because they, not the Federal government, are responsible for law enforcement and the safety of its citizens. If you want a “Right” to carry then get the state to recognize that right. But until that happens our state legislature and our courts and calling the shots; it’s called States Rights; we fought a war over it. Court isn’t held on the street and it never will be. If someone thinks their rights have been violated they have recourse. Just like me you have no idea what was there. I didn’t see the guy come out of the store, I didn’t see if he was acting suspiciously or not; and neither did you. What you and I saw was what the bike rider wanted us to see on an edited video. Was the cop dispatched there because of a suspicious person? Was he dispatched there because of a person carrying a gun? We don’t know. But I do know this: I have stopped plenty of people that had committed no crimes. I also did it without violating their rights. When a citizen called; we responded. Like most departments we were very busy and counted on citizens a lot to be our eyes and ears. If a person calls in a suspicious person that is carrying a gun, you don’t know that is the only reason they are suspicious. You go find out. Someone is always going to be upset when someone gets disarmed. I’m not and I wouldn’t be upset if he happened to me. I’ve disarmed people standing in their own homes and had a lot of drama when doing it. I could explain why if I needed to, but I never was asked to; our Command Officers came from the streets they know why it happened. I have absolutely no contempt for anyone carrying a gun. If you want to call it fear; so be it. You obviously saw more than I saw. But then I have been in that situation and you never have. I ride a motorcycle. I don’t open carry but on the bike it sometimes shows, especially when getting on or off. The Officer would have had to ask me to put my hands on the bike when he disarmed me because my weapon is secured. My privilege to carry a gun comes from the state; not a right guaranteed by the Constitution. I’m pretty sure that is a fact because I was arrested for having a gun in my car. See that's how it always ends up.
