I usually have trouble finding deals on .308 brass ammo so I thought I would pass this on. Ordered on Saturday and delivered on Tuesday. http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=A308HFMJ146&name=Austrian+Hirtenberger+.308%2f7.62x51+FMJ+146grn+20rd+Box&groupid=26 http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=AP308FMJ145&utm_source=AIM+Surplus+Main+List&utm_campaign=1bc38d1165-08282015&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_6870497a6a-1bc38d1165-18049773

Suspect in custody. http://www.cnn.com/2015/08/29/us/texas-sheriffs-deputy-shot-gas-station/

There was a lot of hate here, either for cops or for this Officer. I guess we will have to wait to see what happens. I found it interesting that MSN gave a description without giving a race. Is that how it’s going to be done now by the media? They also don’t mention the threats against Police. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/hunt-continues-for-suspect-in-deputy-killing/ar-BBmd876?ocid=spartandhp This story says a witness said the shooter was black. http://www.breitbart.com/texas/2015/08/28/texas-deputy-executed-days-after-black-radical-group-calls-for-killing-cops/ Rest in peace Deputy Darren Goforth

Alcohol + Handgun: Hypothetical Question
DaveTN replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
You are correct; however you are describing what happens when you are beyond the point of presumed legal impairment. At very low BAC levels things start to happen that influence your actions; not simply your reactions. http://www.cdc.gov/motorvehiclesafety/impaired_driving/bac.html .02% * Some loss of judgment * Relaxation * Slight body warmth * Altered mood* Decline in visual functions (rapid tracking of a moving target) * Decline in ability to perform two tasks at the same time (divided attention) .05% About 3 alcoholic drinks*** Exaggerated behavior * May have loss of small-muscle control (e.g., focusing your eyes) * Impaired judgment * Usually good feeling * Lowered alertness * Release of inhibition* Reduced coordination * Reduced ability to track moving objects * Difficulty steering * Reduced response to emergency -
Alcohol + Handgun: Hypothetical Question
DaveTN replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I would guess he’s giving his interpretation of the law for him personally (since he says "But that's just me"). It’s the same as mine. The law doesn’t use words like “impaired” or “intoxicated”, there is no .08% BAC presumption point of impairment as there is for driving. “Under the influence” That means it’s pretty much whatever the cop can articulate in front of a Judge. Also, if Tennessee were to put a BAC limit on it, it would be something below .04% because that’s where they say you are too impaired to drive a commercial vehicle. I don’t drink at all and drive. I don’t carry a gun and drink for some the same reasons, one is its irresponsible, another is that I am very familiar with the fact that cops and the courts are intolerant of drivers that drink; I would bet the same holds true for people carrying guns when their drinking has come to the attention of the Officer. But that’s just a WAG, I don’t know that. There may also be case law on this....does anyone know if there is? -
Notify them by email and send it back to the factory. I don’t buy into the “it needs to be broke in”; that’s non-sense. Any quality firearm should be ready for use right out of the box with nothing needed but cleaning. It’s a Smith & Wesson not an import. My brand new Shield would stovepipe on the second round of both mags. I don’t know why; didn’t care. I notified S&W and they send me a shipping label. I think turnaround time was around 2 weeks. They replaced the extractor and polished the feed ramp. Worked flawlessly when it came back. Or you could pass it on to some unsuspecting soul and downgrade to a Glock.

Mine goes into battery, mag, no mag, full mag, empty mag it doesn’t matter. Mine is a .40, so its 6 and 7, but yes, both mags seat and lock.

Discussion Of Possible Gun Legislation, Parks Again
DaveTN replied to runco's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Once again, an AG opinion is not law. The legislature makes laws and the courts enforce and interpret them; neither is bound by anything the AG has to say. These issues will have to be addressed in a courtroom or by new legislation. No one is going to arrest anyone that is refusing entry to someone with a gun. -
The same people that want to have more in-depth background checks and are whining about people with mental problems getting guns are the same people that think threats are protected speech and don’t want anyone to have access to their health records. Most of these nutcase shooters could pass a background check. What in the world do they think could have been done to stop this guy? What are these “sensible laws that keep crazy people from getting guns”? http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/official-va-tv-murders-gun-purchased-legally/ar-BBm9XIv?ocid=spartandhp Who knew the guy had problems? Did anything go to court? Was he getting psychiatric care? If so was he prescribed meds? Who should have known about that? What government agency do they want to have all that info? Did he make threats known to anyone? Was his friends and family aware of his problems? What did they do? Was Law Enforcement ever notified?

I didn’t get the memo we were in the middle of a race war. I knew some criminals were trying to get cops to stop shooting other criminals; but I didn’t think that was going real well for them.
-
I’m armed and trained; but I don’t think I could have saved either of those victims. I don’t have the protections I had as a Police Officer. I absolutely would have had no issue with getting involved to save someone, but by the time I would have been sure of what I was seeing; he would have been shooting.

Current LEO's: When did police procedures change for suicides?
DaveTN replied to E4 No More's topic in General Chat
I didn’t say he did. I would not have generally waited for a suicidal Person to point a gun at me. But every case is different; I wasn’t there. -
Current LEO's: When did police procedures change for suicides?
DaveTN replied to E4 No More's topic in General Chat
What was your SOP in the 90’s for a suicidal person pulling a gun on you? In the 80’s ours was to shoot them if they were putting us or others in immediate danger of death or great bodily harm. -
Riverbend Time: an experience from last year.

New authority for the AG? -
That’s beautiful. I sure wish they made those stocks at a reasonable price today. I would take those over the plastic and laminate crap we have today. I would shoot that and strip it at least once a year. Like anything else it needs attention and leaving it set without proper cleaning and lube is not good.

Would it be lawful if you were carrying it walking along the bank? Would you meet all the criteria for lawful hunting (if you want to use that reason)? Don’t be a test dummy.

Regal movie theaters begin searching bags
DaveTN replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in General Chat
They were “searching” (if you can call it that) backpacks at the Brickyard 400. We were told to have them open. The guy looked in some and not in others; I got waved through without a look. I don’t know what they were looking for, but I could have had a lot of guns and ammo in my backpack and it would have gone right through. -
I just wish someone would give Comcast some competition so they would have to lower their prices. I thought that might happen with Google Fiber, but nope, Comcast just doubled the speed and moved on.
-
Attendance being down is because of the technology we have today. Big Screen HD TV” s and DVR. I went to the Brickyard 400 this year so my Grandson could experience a race. But I am spoiled and have no desire to go to the races. As with all TV, I DVR the race and watch it on my schedule; not theirs. I watch it on a 65” big screen in HD, I have the best view at the track, get to hear from the divers, know what’s going on all the time, get to rewind or fast forward, and can skip commercials. So what am I missing? The heat, the crowds, the hard seats, knowing someone just crashed but not knowing who, $10 beers (Yes, I paid $20 for two beers in the stands and the guy said they appreciate tips), the smells? I’m okay with missing out on that stuff. But yes, there are some stupid rules. Speeding on pit road? Give me a break. But all the drivers are saddled with the same non-sense.

A friend of mine sent me this about 10 years ago!!!
DaveTN replied to bersaguy's topic in General Chat
I found this many years ago, and I know my first stop will be at Rainbow Bridge. ............................. Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown... -
A cat. The head is a blur, but looks like an ordinary house cat to me.

Run the Norton Removal tool and then do a clean install. https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/kb20080710133834EN_EndUserProfile_en_us But you may already have issues if it's not listed in "Uninstall/Change Programs". Get rid of it. Why would you do that? A new browser is the main reason for 10. You might want to give it a chance before corrupting your OS install with a third party browser.

I’m glad to see Remington getting back into the handgun market. They make some of the best rifles and shotguns on earth; hopefully that expertise will be seen in their handguns. They had a set-back with the R-51, but it appears they addressed it quickly. Any American manufacturer that can produce a quality product and compete with the imports on price given the obstacles they are hampered with; deserve our attention and business.
