  1. Not if they are telling the truth. The problem is that carrying a gun in this state is a crime. The other issue is that when cops are called; they go. I doubt they get many calls of a man with a gun that don’t involve a threat of some kind and a complainant. If there is no complainant I assume it’s up to the Officer if he stops you and checks you out or not. The only way to curb this is to have carrying a gun be a right. But I’m sure it would still happen some as some people call the cops if they see someone walking in their neighborhood they don’t recognize.
  2. Exactly. What keeps a person that is willing to lie say you pointed a gun at them and threatened them? The same thing that keeps them from accusing you of any other crime.... Nothing. You could be walking into the local convenience store or pizza parlor during an armed robbery and get shot because one of the bad guys saw your gun before you saw them. These are the risks you assume to carry a gun.
  3. You want us to believe BATF showed up a guy’s house and seized weapons without a warrant based on an Arfcom post?
  4. Calling it “swatting” is as stupid as the anti’s calling on everyone they see. People are going to open carry guns, people are going to call the cops on them, the cops are going to respond; that will not change for most areas. Unless the callers embellish or make stuff up it should be nothing more than any other call of suspicious activity. The responding cops will know the person is armed, the person should know that the cops know they are armed; and if all act accordingly it should be a drama free event. If they say the person pulled the gun or threatened someone, when they didn’t, is crosses the line to a criminal act.
  5. Well, I wondered if this contract was such a big deal why someone didn’t sit down with the shot callers and build what they want. It appears Smith & Wesson and General Dynamics is doing just that. “Produced in-house by the Army.”?? That sounds laughable and very expensive for the tax payers. Does that mean the Army would attempt to produce a manufacturing facility to make these? Or are they planning on someone like ATK (that already runs Lake City) to do it? The only one that would need something like that would be STI-Detonics that doesn’t have the capabilities to fulfill a contract like this on their own. Any of the others I’m sure could do it much more cost effectively than the government. We don’t need more government jobs or creating facilities that aren’t needed. I hope the American companies produce what is required. It would be a crime (and should be) for this manufacturing contract to go to a foreign company.
  6. His Officers better have great equipment if he can afford to destroy over a half million dollars.
  7. 59.00 a year isn’t bad, but that’s limited to one computer; is that all you have? I use Acronis and image my computers to portable hard drives.
  8. http://www.ammoland.com/2015/08/honolulu-mayor-caldwell-gives-up-575000-to-aid-gun-manufacturers/#axzz3kR0Y2yfV More info.
  9. Two stupid things; throwing away $575K and trading S&W’s for Glock’s. That’s a whole bunch of stupid. In all seriousness though; it sounds like there were other Departments in Hawaii that wanted them.
  10. Are Fears of A United Nations Gun Grab Overblown? http://www.gunsamerica.com/blog/are-fears-of-a-united-nations-gun-grab-overblown/
  11. It’s a bunch of noise. I don’t doubt that the current administration would like to ban all weapons being imported into this country and some day it may happen. They think if they can blame the U.N. or some other country that’s a good thing; it won’t fly. I don’t buy foreign guns, never had a need to, everything I need is made right here by Americans in American companies. Registration? Well, most of what I have bought lately is new so not only is the sale “registered” I register with the manufacturers, I also have an HCP and a C&R. So I guess the government is aware of the fact I own guns. Confiscation? I don’t doubt that there will be continual attempts by the Feds and some states to outlaw some types of guns. But they don’t need registration to do that. They won’t be going door to door. We have stuff to worry about that is actually happening without worrying about stuff that that isn’t happening and probably won’t. But that’s just my thoughts on it I fully understand that anything is possible.
  12. They aren’t rules from GOD written in stone and our founding fathers didn’t intend them to be. We are responsible for maintaining what is and is not a right or a law.
  13. I don’t have one and have never shot one, but when they came out I thought I might try one. I never did as I can’t see any advantage over a .357 revolver. They appear to be a novelty item.
  14. I’m surprised WalMart hasn’t started their own ammo company. I guess the idea scares their attorney’s.
  15. Probably. WalMart isn’t getting out of selling guns or ammo.
  16. I have always felt that driving should be a right; although I acknowledge it is a privilege in every state I’m aware of. There are people who depend on driving for their very existence. For example; I don’t believe the state should be able to suspend or revoke your driver’s license for DUI. They should be able to put you in jail for it; they should be able to put you in prison for multiple offenses. You will either quit drinking and driving or know that you will go to prison. If you quit drinking and driving you will still be able to keep a job, but won’t be getting arrested all the time for driving while suspended/revoked. Another example: If you keep getting speeding tickets; the fines keep increasing or jail time kicks in. In my plan the fine would be based on your income and it would progressively hurt more until you became a careful driver. I can’t count the number of people I have seen ruined either over a DUI or getting enough points that leads to suspension, revocation, FTA, and jail. Anyone that has read my posts on DUI knows I don’t condone it in any way, and I won’t drive even after one beer. But people that have made mistakes and corrected them are sometimes caught up in a system there is no recovering from. However, no states agree with me.
  17. Apparently you are 21 or will be by the end of September. Do you have some kind of issue that would cause you to think you couldn’t handle a center fire handgun? As far as how you will know.....if it’s comfortable and you can hit the target you are good to go.
  18. You have a right to try to start a marathon thread. I predict you have accomplished that. This is a wide open discussion that will go all kind of ways. I suspect the biggest debates/questions will be over Constitutional rights and the drama and understanding/misunderstanding of them. I’ll kick things off with some remarks about the most discussed right on a gun forum; The 2nd Amendment. I was arrested in Illinois for having a gun in my car. The charges were dismissed because I knew people to get that done; otherwise I would have been convicted. I thought I had a right to have a gun and that I would fight it all the way to the SCOTUS. That was many years ago and I now have to laugh that I could have been that naïve. So, do I have a right to carry a gun? Absolutely not. The worst war this country was ever in was our own civil war. Contrary to what is being taught in schools today that war was fought over States Rights. The side fighting for States Rights lost. But it took such a toll on our nation that no one (of average intelligence) wants to fight it again. So are there limitations to rights? Absolutely. The SCOTUS has seen fit to cut the 2nd amendment in half. They have ruled that you have the right to own a gun. Why didn’t they rule you have the right to carry a gun and let everyone strap on a gun while walking down the street? States’ Rights. They knew they couldn’t enforce it and they would have had a show down with the states. Our state is not a Constitutional Carry state; it is a crime to carry a gun. We (HCP holders) are a “Special Group” just like cops and other “Special groups”. We purchased our “Privilege” to carry from the state; no Rights are involved.
  19. I think many are trying to keep this from spinning the way it is headed. Threats are not protected speech. Unless those openly calling for the murder of whites and Police Officers are charged; it’s going to get bad for everyone, including those that think they are standing on the side lines watching.
  20. I think he means a thumb break; which is always needed on a leather holster no matter how well it’s made if you are working the streets.
  21. Desantis, Galco and Gould & Goodrich all have excellent leather, thumb break OTW holsters. I would find out where your local LEO’s go. You would probably get the same LEO discount they get; which can be pretty substantial. http://www.desantisholster.com/?gclid=CP-l1MvpzscCFdgKgQodEv8KbQ http://gouldusa.com/ http://www.galcogunleather.com/ Who cares. I wouldn’t think “Plain cloths Security” at a college means concealed does it?
  22. 10 don’t let you do that......yet.
  23. Might not be if you have concerns about. I appendix carry a J-frame revolver. I feel safe doing that, but wouldn’t do it with a semi-auto. The argument comes into play when you have those that don’t think a firearm can discharge unless you pull the trigger. If you believe that; carry on. If you think any mechanical devise can fail; you might want to consider your specific set-up.
