  1. Don’t let the insurance stop you. I don’t know how many times I have heard “Don’t say anything to the cops until you talk to a lawyer!” That’s only good advice if you can talk a lawyer right then. I would bet most people throwing out that “advise” can’t do that. You could have them hand you a phone and say “Call him”. If you have to shoot someone strangers standing around you will start making decisions about you that will impact you and your family. They will make those decisions based on the information they have. I can’t see me in a situation where I would need a lawyer in a shooting, but it’s possible. I will have those people on my side and I will be involved in the decision making process of what’s about to happen. If you feel that strongly about staying out of jail or covering yourself financially; be prepared to make that call when they hand you a phone. Decide who you want and see what they will charge to meet with you. Then you will be better prepared for the situation you are concerned about. While you are talking with them you can ask them about this company you have questions about and this type of insurance in general.
  2. The smallest gun I own is an MK40 Kahr. Very nice. You can almost buy two Shields for the price of one MK40. (Although I only own one Shield)
  3. If it wasn’t for Gates; Apple wouldn’t be around. I work in manufacturing so a Mac isn’t really an option. But from everything I have seen they are great for some folks.
  4. If they stand their ground I bet it will just be turning people away. I don’t think many cops (or a department) would want to arrest someone when they know, or should have known, it’s not a crime. Obviously they don’t agree with the Attorney General; so a court will need to hear this.
  5. I wouldn’t want to say for sure, you can be arrested for anything. You are barred from buying a handgun from an FFL. It’s just not under section (g). I know you can own one under Tennessee law and they are specifically saying (g), which I don’t see anything about age in. It appears to me you are okay, but maybe one of our forum lawyers will weigh in.
  6. I would guess (and that's all it is) you would have a problem with this for a handgun... Tennessee law: (A) Is not prohibited from possessing or receiving a firearm by 18 U.S.C. § 922(g) or purchasing a firearm by § 39-17-1316; and Federal law it makes reference to: (B*) It shall be unlawful for any licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, licensed dealer, or licensed collector to sell or deliver— (1) any firearm or ammunition to any individual who the licensee knows or has reasonable cause to believe is less than eighteen years of age, and, if the firearm, or ammunition is other than a shotgun or rifle, or ammunition for a shotgun or rifle, to any individual who the licensee knows or has reasonable cause to believe is less than twenty-one years of age; EDIT: never mind, that's not (g).
  7. First place I would check would be Guns & Leather in Greenbrier. http://gunsandleather.com/

    Drop Box

Do they really think people are thinking “Gee, if there was just somewhere I could drop this gun off anonymously”? Reminds me of the saying “Being stupid should hurt”.
  9. Right here... http://www.beretta.com/en-us/careers/manufacturing/ Right now they are all skilled trade jobs and say something like... I wish I was younger; it looks like some great opportunities for some Manufacturing and Quality folks.
  10. Two. Hand to power, push button.
  11. Correct. A new slide for a Glock costs about $175. Even through a CNC machine and programs wouldn’t be needed you would be wasting money doing that unless you found a hobbyist to do it. If you welded or build up that area to be machined, you would have to also set it up and check the inside of the slide for warpage and probably would have to address that. I was just curious as to what you used that would not pop out under use. It sounds like you were straight up with the customer and the price was certainly right.
  12. Is a Glock slide coated with something that thick? (Damaged areas) Or did Bubba apply some kind of coating? Steel wouldn’t look like that unless it had been buried or rusted for a very long time? A standard consumer media blaster couldn’t do that to steel. Your work looks good. What did you use to fill those areas? But I thought you could drag your Glock on a rope behind your car and it would still fire when needed?
  13. Computers can be turned off?
  14. It’s the next step and it’s free right now? If you are going to use a third party browser I wouldn’t load it. If you are going to use the new Edge browser you might want to give it a try. I did an image of my drive with 8.1 thinking if I didn’t like 10 I could simply go back. Seems a little faster and more responsive and the start menu is back. No problems here so far. But if your set-up is something you are happy with I wouldn’t upgrade to anything without a way to revert back if you have problems.
  15. What size hole do want to see at what distance?
  16. Don’t soak any mechanical device in in WD40 unless you can take it totally apart to clean it. If you go that far you can fix it.
  17.     Thanks, I'll check there. Do they carry others besides Benchmade?
  18. Thanks, I'm planning on going to SMKW some day.
  19. These look pretty cool. I would like to see an unbiased test against something like the Remington 700 VLS or a comparable Savage. If that is possible.
  20. Does anyone in middle Tennessee sell auto-knives yet?
  21. Seems every time we all have to move the right to pass some azzhat in the left lane they are texting or talking on the phone. If you can’t multitask; get out of that left lane.
  22. Kinda what I was thinking. But wasn't it just the army that nixed it?

  24. As has been noted they are very different. If you aren’t sure if you are being detained or arrested; just ask. Many times someone is being detained while an Officer somewhere else is gathering info that may lead to either an arrest or a release. If there is anything I have always wanted to do as a public service its talk to young people about two things; DUI and being stopped by the Police. Some parents try to inform their kids but don’t have the background to do it, some are just so bitter they blindly pass that along to their kids. When your kid interacts with a Police Officer as a suspect or on a traffic stop, their freedom and their future could be on the line in those very few minutes. They deserve to have good, correct information to be able to make the choices that could have such an impact on them.
  25. That’s an unusual statement. Makes me think they have a pretty good idea of who did this, and that he wasn’t targeted because he was a cop. I guess we will see. Prayers for the family.
