  1. Many people will walk far closer to you than 10 feet. You don’t get to pull a gun on them because you are scared. I don’t know what will happen with the DA; I would guess a plea bargain with the felony aggravated assault and reckless endangerment reduced to misdemeanors with court supervision. Every incident is handled on its own merit. I think she might have been okay if she hadn’t pointed the gun in the direction of the innocent bystanders when there clearly was no threat.
  2. $3300 to start with no glass?
  3. This has been done before, but let’s update it for Veterans Day. NAVY Machinist Class A School, San Diego Ca. 1971-72 USS Ponce LPD-15 (now AFSB(I)-15) 1972-74 USS Holland AS-32 1974-75 AIR NATIONAL GUARD Illinois Air National Guard 183rd Fighter Wing, Springfield, IL. 1977-78
  4. Building one would be fun, but I don’t think you will save any money if you go with quality components. There is no standard for an AR-10 like there is for an AR-15 (Mil-Spec). $2500 should get you there, but you will probably have a rifle you could buy for much less. I have a DPMS 308 Panther, but as soon as Smith & Wesson adds a heavy barrel and quad handguards to their M&P10; I’ll have that.
  5. If that’s a bot (which I doubt) kudo’s to them that’s some high level technology. As far as what the intent would be I don’t know, I thought it was amusing that a bunch of folks on a gun forum would give their opinion on such a serious child psychology issue; but I don’t know how they would use that for anything other than a humorous story.
  6. Great guy. Besides Law and Order I remember him the most for Flight of the Intruder. One of my favorite military pics. He didn’t have a very big part, but his lines at the end were pretty cool. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aWLk36djRE
  7. You could put a Picatinny base on the Savage, but that Hi-Lux mount doesn’t look like it has a cutout for chamber clearance?
  8.     I’m confused. Are you saying they park a take home squad car in a grocery store parking lot and leave it there because they live in another county?
  9. Link em' so we can.
  10. American companies aren’t hiding behind anything. They make some of the best products in the world. They may not always be the cheapest, but when they don’t get to take advantage of cheap labor, have OSHA and the EPA to deal with (a cost most of their competitors don’t have) and are still able to hold costs competitive; they deserve our support. Most anything you look at also has an American manufacturer in the bottom feeder market. If you are going to buy junk; buy American made junk.   We should penalize the American people and the American workers at Ruger because one of the founders that has been dead for 15 years suggested to congress they outlaw high capacity magazines instead of outlawing the guns?
  11. Not really hard to understand, I used the word manufacturer. Glock shipping parts in here and assembling them isn’t manufacturing, Sig I don’t know about, I’ve never had the desire to buy one so I haven’t checked, Beretta does manufacture guns here, they have Machinists, Gunsmith’s and Machines here. However they are an Italian company and don’t really have anything I am interested in owning. They are helping the economy in Tennessee and if they made something here I was interested in I could justify it. But what are they going to make I can’t get from S&W or Ruger? I make no apologies for buying from companies that support American manufacturing. All the financial experts for years have said if our manufacturing base doesn’t recover; we are doomed financially. I expect the Politicians I vote for to have ideas that will help our economy. The least I can do is to do my part when I can. I can’t buy everything American Made, my computers, TV’s and Cameras are foreign made. But my guns are Smith & Wesson, Ruger, Kahr, Remington and Mossberg; these companies can supply me with the finest guns in the world; I have no need for foreign made guns. Our Politicians in Washington are making all this noise about helping American manufacturing; and it’s all BS if they buy guns from foreign manufacturers and take jobs away from American when we make a better product here. America companies make the best guns in the world and it should be a crime for the government to turn their backs on them.
  12. Any guesses where this is headed?

I didn’t know they had Rural King’s here. When you knife guys go there check out this little Gerber knife. I picked it up in Illinois for $9.99 and thought it was on sale, guess not. I didn’t know how nice it was until I got it home and unwrapped. I’ve had several people at work offer me twice what I paid. http://www.ruralking.com/gerber-paraframe-mini-stainless-steel-folding-knife-22-48485.html Not that this has anything to do with guns.
  14. Good to see American companies advancing in the marketplace. But where is the love for us 40 shooters?
  15. I was a cop in the late 70’s early 80’s. The most common vest was a Second Chance. It would stop a 9mm back then.
  16. We all know there is no perfect handgun and no perfect caliber for everyone. So the caliber discussions will continue for those that want info. Thanks for your addition to the conversation.
  17. The Miami shootout is no more relevant than any of the hundreds of other LE shootouts that are studied. If you are outgunned; you are outgunned. The Bank of America shootout is proof of that. Every individual is purchasing their weapons and deciding on caliber based on their abilities for any given situation. Shooting unarmed humans with most any caliber will make them stop whatever it is they are doing and you will have their full attention. If that is your goal any caliber will achieve it. On the other hand, if your probable most likely scenario is an armed attacker and your goal is to immediately make him unable or unwilling to fire his weapon at you; caliber choices become pretty important. How do you think you will perform? I personally get a kick out of the “shot placement” crowd. However their message is entirely true; if you can place a shot precisely where you want it you can drop a bad guy instantly with a .22. Of course unless you have experienced that first hand you have no idea how you will do. My first shooting situation was in the dark with a man pulling a gun on me. I was a member of the PD pistol team and was an excellent shot. But in those few seconds I learned that I am not qualified to me a member of the “shot placement” crowd. Your personally experiences will help you choose, but if you don’t have any you have to rely on whatever experience you have available to you. Check documentation. If someone is telling you what it’s like to face a gunman on the street that is trying to take your life; he has to have faced a gunman on the street trying to take his life. You can’t create that adrenaline rush in training. There are plenty of true life stories out there and sometimes the people are willing to talk about them. Caliber choices of Police Departments or even the FBI aren’t really good indicators of what you may want to carry. If you can’t handle a large caliber, you can’t bring it back on target quickly, or the weapon is bigger than you want to carry; don’t use it. But saying that a 9mm is as good a choice as .40S&W, .45ACP or .357Mag for everyone is just ridiculous. And just as ridiculous is saying a .40S&W is a better round for someone that can’t handle the recoil without limp wristing and having a failure to fire during a time when that failure could cost you your life. The weapon you carry is a direct reflection on how valuable you think your life is, or how likely you truly think you will be to need a weapon.
  18. I don’t know why this surprises anyone; this is the same government that took 45ACP and .308 away from our troops and gave them the weak azz 9mm and .223. As far as handguns; no government agency should be able to buy anything from a foreign manufacturer unless there is no American made product that can meet the requirements. My own dollars don’t go to Glock and I don’t want my tax dollars going to them either. The M&P is a proven performer; it should hands down get the nod.
  19. No kids were taken/lost. The vehicle was stopped in Nashville, Mom and kid said they were fine; two guys with them were friends. All were sent on their merry way. No explanation from St. Louis Police why an Amber alert was issued.
  20. That’s not correct. If you are justified in killing someone, you are justified in exhausting all other means available to you before doing that. Plenty of cops have fired warning shots; even in departments where it was a violation of department policy. Just because he was cited doesn’t mean he will be charged. I suspect that charge will be dropped. The DA will have a hard timer prosecuting the other guy for aggravated assault if they claim the guy with the gun was not in fear for his safety.
  21. Yes, I know Smith & Wesson doesn’t make knives and most are just marketing stuff. But I saw quite a few good reviews on the 1600BT. Of course I understand, just like with guns; a low price will sometimes cause a good review for something that’s not really very good. The Taiwan S&W I don’t expect much out of; but it’s $30. I can’t justify $200 or $300 for a knife. So I’m looking for something of quality in the $100 or less range and trying to stay with knives made here. That may be an unrealistic goal; but we will see.
  22. What do you have now, and what is wrong with it? I would suggest (if possible) you try them all. If you want to shoot in Murfreesboro I’ll make a SW1911 Target available, maybe someone else can make a Dan Wesson and a Springfield available. Mine isn’t even a performance center gun, but I think it will hold its own. I’ll also make a Ruger SR1911 available; it might surprise you. Of course if you are buying for looks that’s a much easier choice and takes less time.
  23. Who could “easily” conquer us if there are no ROE’s to tie our hands? No matter what happens on land here; our ballistic subs are out there. What country (or group of countries) will want to take that risk? (MAD) We are talking reality, not a movie; facts have to be dealt with.
  24. I have been checking out made in the U.S.A. auto knives in the $100 range. I couldn’t decide between a Kershaw Launch 3 and a Smith & Wesson M&P; so I bought them both. I’ll keep whichever one I like the best and sell the other one to someone at work. I want the M&P to be nicer because I have several M&P firearms and it matches them. But I can’t find out who makes it. The Kershaw will probably be better quality; but I don’t know if I’ll like the handle shape. We will see. http://www.bladehq.com/item--Kershaw-Launch-3-Automatic-Knife--27379 http://www.bladehq.com/item--Smith-Wesson-Military-Police--13611 I also bought the Smith & Wesson Extreme Ops Tanto because I wondered what kind of quality $30 would be in an auto. (Made in Taiwan) http://www.bladehq.com/item--Smith-Wesson-Extreme-Ops--1321 I got an email that’s says they were shipped yesterday and should be here tomorrow; that’s good. I figured the free shipping would take a week at least, but they sent them Priority Mail 2-Day.
  25. I don’t see it happening over or because of any political beliefs. There are too many people like “us” that would put a quick stop to it. “Us” being those of us that are Patriots and will not stand by wringing our hands while someone attempts to overthrow our government or way of life. That group would die where they make their stand. It certainly wouldn’t be a race war; that won’t happen. However, it could turn into a free for all if our economy and our government collapses. If you want to blame the internet or the government; so be it, but they didn’t cause the problems and we are the only ones that can fix them. I don’t really see that happening, far too many are only concerned with themselves.
