Thinking about moving from .40 to 9mm ...
DaveTN replied to Peace's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Why not? What have you seen or experienced firsthand that makes you want to switch? I switched to .40 many years ago based on things I observed and have never had a desire to switch back. Surface Area/Mass/Velocity; nothing more, nothing less. -
Maybe I’m not understanding you right, but there isn’t room for a case to turn around. It would have to exit the rifle, flip and be knocked back in?? This might help with your failure to go into battery problems. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0CfYyfqbvg

If it’s rare why don’t you have it high gloss blued? Aren’t you concerned that if you paint it you will lose any value or collectability it has?
-
If a guy knew how to do high gloss hot bluing he could make a bunch here. http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=F1FNHPMK3I&utm_source=AIM+Surplus+Main+List&utm_campaign=2c68141892-11192015&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_6870497a6a-2c68141892-18049773 Of course if a guy could do high gloss bluing at a reasonable cost he could make a mint without them.

Contrary to popular belief; money can fix most things. This guy could have gone to Nevada and bought all the sex it wanted, but he had to mess with underage girls. Well, now he will have 15 years to think about it.

Maybe posting the story that picture is taken from will help. http://www.cnn.com/2015/11/18/middleeast/metrojet-crash-dabiq-claim/ I have no reason not to believe that’s what they did, or why it matters. They are terrorists; they want you to know what they did.

Has anyone given thought about terrorists Attacks here?
DaveTN replied to bersaguy's topic in General Chat
If you see something; say something. Cops will be profiling people; you should also. If you see something unusual, call the cops and let them know. Terrorists are going to avoid cops and Security; we need to be the eyes and ears of LE to have a chance of stopping an attack. Up your level of readiness. If you work in or are the owner of a business open to the public; do you have a plan for survival other than running? Be prepared to fight back. Getting away from a terrorist with a bomb may save your life, but the only way to stop an active shooter is with another active shooter. -
Sure, they are ignorant terrorists. They are thumbing their noses at the Russians; that will cost them their lives. They are just showing that a bomb could be in anything; we already know that. Unless they are falsely claiming the take down of that plane (nothing to suggest that); I see no reason not to believe it was a soda can.

It will happen; but I won’t live in fear because of it. There is no point in throwing out your ideas of what could happen; we all know it. I’m sure Police Departments are hiring and deploying all the help their budgets will allow. Fill us in on where and why the National Guard is being deployed? I haven’t heard about that. -
Only nations have the ability to deliver a Nuclear weapon. So yes, retaliation would be swift and brutal to set an example. I doubt anyone that has the ability to deliver a nuke will do so knowing that minutes later, them and many of their people will be dead. More than likely a dirty bomb will be used and we won’t have a target to attack. That image in your post is pretty cool, but the message doesn’t make sense. To use a nuke your target needs to be a place; not a religion. Also Muslim extremists don’t fear death; you won’t threaten them into submission (stop murdering innocent people) you will have to capture or kill them. Obama has opened the flood gates for terrorists to enter our county; it will now only be a matter of time to see the results.

Wal-Mart first, if they don't have it when I need it; best price I have found online recently is Freedom Munitions. http://www.freedommunitions.com/#&panel1-1

Burglary at Guns and Leather (Hendersonville)
DaveTN replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in General Chat
Pretty bold; drugs were involved in that plan. -
When I meet with my friends I like to drink beer and BS. I like shooting with a group for fun, but if a tactics and training class breaks out; I’ll be the guy critiquing and pointing out who lived and who died. Do you think it could be because out of your group the guys may be concerned their skills aren’t what they should be?

I’m not a knife aficionado, but I try to buy American made when I can. One of the choices in the search feature on Blade HQ is country of origin. http://www.bladehq.com/

Customer Service isn’t gone totally; unfortunately it’s getting harder to find employee’s that have those traits. You found two at one store. I think it has more to do with those individuals and less to do with Tractor Supply.

Then take a look at the 870 WingMaster http://www.remington.com/products/firearms/shotguns/model-870/model-870-wingmaster.aspx All pump shotgun threads on all gun forums start and end with the 870, not much competition.

Warning shot fired after road rage incident
DaveTN replied to Hershmeister's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
And I have fired a warning shot prior to trying to kill someone. My statement was that I was getting ready to kill a 16 year old and I was exhausting every option I had available to me prior to going that. I thought he was pulling a gun on me, but I wasn’t absolutely sure. I told my superiors I knew I was violating department policy and would do it again under the same situation. He lived, I lived, and it changed our department policy. The kid did have a handgun and he was going to shoot me. No matter how scary you looked at him or what you yelled it would not have stopped that hand coming from the waistband; a warning shot did. You say that because that’s how you have been trained. You obviously have never been in a situation where taking a life or firing a warning shot was the options. Or maybe you have; I don’t know. Of course it’s a terrible idea; shooting people is a terrible idea. You will be judged by your peers and possible by the courts. Every arm chair quarterback will give their opinion on what you did. I do that and so does everyone else here. But I try to keep it real; I try to think what that person was going through and give them the benefit of the doubt; not give what I think would be the correct answer in a training class. This is why people need to train. It is also why they need to go through possible scenarios in their mind. It’s why they need to train without using sights and seeing just how good their “shot placement” skills are. It’s why they need to quit standing at the 3 yard line and trying to shoot the center out of a target. I would suspect that in your classes you teach people to do whatever it takes to stay alive; use all the tools you have at your disposal. Well whether you like it or not; it’s a tool that is available and it gets used a lot. A trained professional wouldn’t skip a shot across pavement into bystanders; every tool is dependent on the circumstances you are faced with at that very second in your life. You will be held responsible for making the right choice; no one will care what your instructor told you or what you think the rules were. -

If you are talking about Mike Patterson at The Saddle Shop; he is my go to guy for ordering guns and finding me guns I want. I saw that he also sells trailers; but I didn’t look at them. Do your gun shopping and trailer shopping at one place. He is a good guy; here is his info. The Saddle Shop 5101 Murfreesboro Road College Grove, TN 37046 Phone: 615-395-7555

No, stone washing, acid etching or bead blasting allow the blade to hold debris and moisture better than a polished blade. Those finishes are for appearance only. All blades must be cared for no matter what the finish.

Is your point that we should be concerned they are Catholics? All but one is white, should that be a concern also? Do you think Catholics are putting some special kind of spin on our news? What does any of that have to do with the topic at hand?
-
That may well be; but I would have to see it. I’m not chuckling at the rifle anyway; I’m chuckling at the broad range we cover in these threads.
-
I’m not shipping a firearm without declaring it. That being said; I was turned down at the UPS terminal in Murfreesboro by the “Security Officer”. He told me he could only accept it from a non FFL if it was going to a manufacturer for repair. I called the 800 number and they told me that was not correct, but that would not overturn his decision on a firearm shipment. That was a few years ago and I’m sure he isn’t there anymore, but it goes to show they can decide whatever they feel like at the time. I think FedEx is the only ones that will ship a gun without a bunch of non-sense.

I have a Leupold 6.5-20X40 VX-III LR on my .308 bolt; they don’t get any more durable than Leupold. I have a Vortex Viper 6.5-20X44 on my DPMS Panther in .308. I haven’t got to really try it out yet. Both are 30mm tubes. Both will focus down to about 25 yards; although I’ve not shot anything that close, obvious ballistic issues apply. The farthest I have been able to shoot either .308 is 300 meters; I had access to 1000 yards in Illinois but the property got sold. In the $500 to $1500 range the clear leader is going to be Leupold; there will be some great other options in there, top of the line Nikon and Vortex. At about the $1500 mark Nightforce kicks in. Then you have two groups; those of us that would give up any scope we have for a Night force and liars. But $1500 to $2500 is out of my league. 1000 yards is more on the shooter than the gun and scope; it’s hard to do even with the best equipment. I would start with this and a one piece solid mount…. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/1362123243/leupold-vx-3-long-range-rifle-scope-30mm-tube-65-20x-40mm-side-focus

My dog weighed 106 lbs. and it would look nowhere near that big. If that guy weighs 200 lbs. that Wolf is at least that. That looks photoshopped to me; but maybe it’s not. If not, good for him that will be all over the news, that a heck of a Wolf.
