Wow, tough crowd. Best I can tell no one is being arrested for not paying students loans. A guy was arrested for failure to appear in court. It’s the same thing if you don’t pay a speeding ticket or go to court. The Judges issues a bench warrant and the next time you are stopped you go to jail. Are you in jail for a speeding ticket? No, you are in jail for contempt of court. Life’s tough; wear a helmet.

I’m surprised we haven’t had one yet. There is plenty of way worse stuff than this that has gone missing. http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/story?id=506177&page=1 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1958_Tybee_Island_mid-air_collision http://www.businessinsider.com/list-of-broken-arrow-nuclear-accidents-2013-5

I don’t expect a trial. The BATF can back off on the gun charges; sounds like the IRS has enough to bury him without them.

Ain’t this global economy great? Mexico moves up a notch and we drop down one. Maybe we can keep going like this until the Mexicans will have no reason to come here illegally.

It’s on the books the same as any other transaction; theirs and yours. They don’t have enough info to do a background check.

I also have a Fluke, but I have cheap meters to keep around in the garage and in the trailer. The wife found these on sale for $25, I bought three, one for me and two for gifts. They have worked fine. I had her looking because a friend at work told me he was trying to wire some stuff at home without a meter. http://www.craftsman.com/craftsman-multimeter-with-ncv-tester/p-03482007000P?prdNo=4&blockNo=4&blockType=G4

I’m not a financial expert; but my home is paid for. Four years into a 30 year loan we refinanced it to 15, then paid extra on it and got it paid off. Now having said that, I could do that because I didn’t listen to the realtors about what I could afford and bought what I wanted to live with. I didn’t want to live to make a house payment. When I signed on with Edward Jones my agent wanted to talk about what I wanted to invest in and how I wanted to invest it. I told him I try to be an expert in my field (and it’s not finance) and I expect him to handle that end of it; that’s why I came to him. We then sat around and talked about guns, cars and motorcycles; the important stuff. Stuff I can buy because I’m not buried in a house payment.

Carry permit holder fire and rehired
DaveTN replied to DaveTN's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I don’t think anyone needs to be fired. A daughter violently attacked and stabbed her mother multiple times. I don’t think many supervisors at a facility like that deal with that type of thing much; if ever. GM has a no firearms policy at the facility. He was escorted off the property and put on paid suspension until an investigation could be done. That’s reasonable. All the news stories said he was fired and rehired. That does not appear to be the case. The man does not work for GM; he works for a valet service that has a contract with GM. Will this have any impact on the no firearms policy? Doubtful, but we will see. -
If you can cut them and get everything ready, maybe looking for a portable welding service would be best. I don’t know of any, but I see trucks all the time with welders on the back of them. Might be cheaper than trying to get it to a weld shop.

I have one I bought several years ago at Bass Pro. They ran a sale on the package with the scope. When I got there they didn’t have any left so they sold me one with their Redhead scope for the same price. It’s the most accurate .22 I have ever shot. It was so accurate it was boring and I sold it to my BIL. I recently got it back when he mentioned selling it and I told him I would give him back what he paid. It’s one of the truly goods deals in my opinion. I would put mine up against .22 builds costing several hundred dollars. I think the package was on sale for $149 plus tax. I never had any issues with mine, but I keep it clean well lubed and only use CCI mini-mags. I think you will be happy with it.

It is under Federal law, but it’s a misdemeanor under state law; I doubt the state will turn this over to the Feds. I also doubt much will happen to him since accepting free drinks is probably against a CPD Department policy. Might cost him his job though.

If it’s not on me it’s in a holster in the console. I wouldn’t have any firearm with a round chambered out in the vehicle without something covering the trigger.

There are some exceptions if you were a Police Officer within the last five years. Of course if you retired; there is LEOSA. https://www.tn.gov/safety/article/hgqualifications

Being stupid should hurt. But in this case being stupid will lead to prison time (except for the one that's already dead).

The effective range of a 7.62 NATO is 1000 yards. (Army says 800, Marines say 1000). But the fact is plenty of people shoot them 1000 yards. You can put any percentage number on that you like. But as soon as we start talking long range; the 300 BLK is dead. It’s a designer round with a special application. The OP said he wanted long range capability. I don’t think most would consider 275 long range.

Cliven Bundy is in jail. He picked the wrong time to decide to get involved. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/cliven-bundy-arrested-in-portland-as-oregon-occupiers-say-they-will-surrender-thursday/ar-BBpnaMG?ocid=spartanntp

The decision for me would be pretty easy based on whether or not you are going to suppress. If I were going to suppress it would be a 300 BLK. If I wasn’t going to suppress, the 300 BLK has nothing to offer. I have no desire to put a suppressor on a large centerfire rifle; so my AR’s are in .308 and .223.

This ship is not for us commoners to go on a cruise; it won’t be in competition with the mega ships. I think it will do great. It’s nostalgia that most will never get to experience. I suspect the rich and famous will keep it going. I’m not interested I like my technology too much.

Let’s agree that AR10 is the buzzword for a 308 AR, okay? (Because it is) No, there is very little interchangeability because there is no standard. You need to watch that whatever you are buying the manufacturer states will specifically fit whatever you are putting it on. Unless you just want the satisfaction of building one, I don’t think you can save any money over buying a complete rifle. No standard and not a big enough market keeps the prices up.

If we had constitutional rights the LEOSA would not exist. We (HCP holders) are a “special group” that buys our privileges from the state. Retired cops are part of a “special group” that gets their privileges from a federal act. It’s just one special group arguing that another special group is getting more “special” treatment than they are; no rights are involved. I was chastised (and maybe rightfully so) when I suggested that since Illinois won’t recognize our permits; we don’t recognize theirs. The same thing was brought up with Virginia recently (but that worked out). The popular consensus is don’t take it out on the individual because they happen to be from that state. Same thing here, a retired cop doesn’t get any more privilege in this state than I do; they just get it in more states than I do. Good for them.

Const. Carry Bill brought up today
DaveTN replied to CommsNBombs's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
How many people in this state have been charged with that? The best thing that could happen would be constitutional carry. Other states have it I see no reason it couldn’t happen here. -
This is really disheartening. I don’t use Facebook much, but the family posts stuff there so I use it. I have never been to any gun trading pages, I never got around to looking for them; guess it’s too late. I hate to see that these spoiled liberal rich kids can shut off what they don’t think is right. Don’t get me wrong; I don’t question their right to do it. Mark Zuckerberg built a company worth 245 billion dollars (more than Walmart) from his college dorm room; so I wouldn’t think he is stupid. So how can he think that banning gun owners from Facebook will help in any way shape or form? Facebook and Google won’t miss a beat with their anti-gun polices. The people that won’t use Facebook over their anti-gun policies probably didn’t use it anyway. Anyone that is serious about doing a search will still use Google. Google isn’t the only game in town, but they are so far ahead of the competition, the completion can’t see their taillights. They can shut us off, but if anyone suggested to them they ban the stoners and the druggies; that would never fly. Pitiful.
