They were patched members and hang arounds. Nine people were killed, 20 wounded. I’ve not seen anyone accuse the Police of starting the shooting; it’s clear they didn’t. Comparing a biker shootout to Waco makes no sense. Are we supposed to care? Because no, I could care less if a gang of thugs get in a shootout and get shot by the cops.

Gee I wonder who will be running against the Sherriff next election.

It’s done every day; cops are arrested every day. The problem is that the radicals don’t agree with the laws the Officers are enforcing; and that will not change. I support our Police Officers in the job they do. They don’t make laws; they enforce them. I have been a Police Officer as I know you have to. I have the upmost respect for them although I wouldn’t want my kids or Grandkids doing the job. You get tired of fighting both sides; that’s why many good people don’t stay. The FBI should be commended on how they just handled the situation that everyone thought would be the next Waco or Ruby Ridge. Only one person died and he basically committed suicide. What a bunch of clowns. Now instead of getting something done they will all go to prison. Which is exactly where they belong because they threatened innocent people with deadly force; that is never okay.

That's why I said its hard to determine. Springfield makes some 1911's and they assemble some from foreign frames.

This package is the best deal you will find in the price range you want to be. He will probably want to upgrade things later on, but 700 is King and this would give him a starter platform. Dicks use to have these every year, but I don’t know if they do anymore. I would go with the .308. Nothing wrong with the 30-06, but plenty more options in .308 rifles (AR) and availability of surplus range ammo; the .308 will take anything he will run into in North America. Resale is better on a .308 also. http://www.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?i=GM443637

I’m sure you will be happy with either. I have owned most flavors of 1911’s. Right now I own a SR1911 and a SW1911; both stainless. The SR1911 has good fit and finish, not as good as the SW1911; but it cost less. Both shoot about the same; the SW1911 a little tighter groups, but it has adjustable target sights, the SR1911 has 3 dot. (I hate three dots on anything) The SR1911 is all American made. It’s hard to determine where the Loaded is made. That matters to me.

My wife doesn’t want me to go to the store; I buy what I want. All she does now is ask that I carry the groceries in from the truck. I like it that way.

My Doctor, Attorney, and Minister are free to ask me whatever they like. I am free to answer however I like. I see no problem. The problem comes into play with what is done with that information. If your Doctor asks if you or anyone in your home smokes; your insurance company can get that info and charge you higher rates. Smoking is not a constitutional right; gun ownership is. Doctors are certainly free to not take you as a patient if you own guns (or smoke, or do anything else they have a problem with). The courts will need to answer the question about whether or not insurance companies can charge you higher rates if you exercise you Constitutional Right of gun ownership.

Bill could make parents responsible for kids finding guns
DaveTN replied to The Legion's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Btq96r posted the text of the law. Because the law uses the words recklessly, plain view and readily accessible, just getting the gun is not enough for them to be convicted. In the story in play right now the kid apparently got the gun out of the closet, loaded it and shot the girl; that wouldn’t meet the requirements of this law for the parents to be convicted. This law just makes it easier to charge irresponsible gun owners. It’s an attempt to cause awareness and maybe get more people to comply. -

Why? Was the case transferred to adult court? Juvenile cases are adjudications; not convictions. -

I would assume a kid going to a hunter safety class has a parent involved. I would also assume a hunter safety course is taught by a certified NRA instructor. I have no problem with that. I would assume a school would use whatever teacher wants the job. Who knows what they would teach them? It’s the same as teachers teaching kids that the cops have to have a warrant to search their car. Kids deserve better information. If you are going to teach something like that you better know what you are talking about; being wrong can cause the kid a lot of problems. -

I wouldn’t want a school teaching my kids gun safety any more than I would want them teaching them about gays or Muslims. -
Anyone have a proven ad blocker for Edge in Windows 10? I want something that is easily turned ON/Off, and easily uninstalled if needed. Free would be good, but I would pay a reasonable fee if it has something to offer the free ones don’t. Try before you buy with full functionality would be a requirement for anything that costs.

Don't they say there is a problem with our mentally ill reporting? -
Not only did she fight him off; she is offering $1000 reward. Yep, he picked the wrong place. Just too bad she didn’t shoot him.

First off, you can be charged for anything. From the first responding Officer, to the investigators, to the DA; decisions are being made that impact your future. Every case has its own set circumstances, and opinions of those involved. Intent, state of mind, intent of the law, and letter of the law, and how LE got involved are all factors. If those involved feel the circumstances under which the child got the gun were because you acted recklessly; yes you can be charged. In our discussions here we are generally limited to news reports and rarely have the facts known to the responding Officers and the DA. Cops aren’t big on releasing information on cases they are investigating. “Reckless” is an element of this offense. If it’s not illegal for the child to possess the gun in your presence; it’s not reckless. It could be reckless if the gun was left in an unsafe state and discharged when the kid handled it. A lawyer (Criminal Prosecutor) would have to answer that, but my guess would be if the kid was committing a felony, and not authorized to be there; that would be a factor that would result in charges not being filed. It wouldn’t be reckless if you had no reason to believe a kid would be in your house. I believe that I have zero responsibility to secure or disable a firearm that is out of sight in my secured, locked vehicle (in this state). However if two juveniles burglarize my car and one shoots and kills the other while playing with the gun they stole; there will be those that would be calling for my head on a stick. It is. We all tend to think most parents are like us and are concerned about their kids. As a former Police Officer I can assure you many are not. It was frustrating for us because it is nearly impossible to help kids that in homes with loser parents that don’t care about them; until something tragic happens. It’s a law that has come about from kids getting guns and shooting themselves or others because of the reckless acts of gun owners around them. They are often called “terrible accidents”. It is terrible, but is rarely an accident that was not preventable had the gun owner exercised due diligence. -

They are. And I assume Tennessee has criminal reckless conduct laws that can be used to prosecute people that allow kids to get guns. (But I don’t know that for sure; most states do) These are just laws people want to pass, because they can; they won’t get much (if any) opposition. -
Wouldn’t it make more sense to carry a firearm that has the amount of rounds you will need in the magazine; not dangling on a string?
-
Then your Grandson is a County Deputy; not a Corrections Officer. My guess would be these were rookie corrections officers that didn't know the local cops, and wasn't sure what was going on. Had they known they were fake cops I don't think they would have needed any authority above that of any other citizen to arrest them.

The Shield is not offered in .380, you must have been shooting a Bodyguard; different firearm.

I assume they have phones or radios. So their supervisors left them out there all day. Did you offer them coffee or to take them to lunch?

Ammo makes a big difference. A .22 needs every bit of power it has to operate reliably in a semi-auto. In my opinion CCI Mini Mags is the best there is (without getting into match ammo); I grab them every time I see them on the shelves. They work the best in every .22 I own. I have shot some of the bulk boxes (Remington, Winchester) that would be hard to eject in my S&W 617; that tells me they will be problematic in a semi-auto. I have never had the CCI do that. One thing I found peculiar was that my 597 groups tighter with CCI hollow points that it does with CCI solids. You would think it would be the other way around; but I just go with it.

Wow. Do you know something we don’t know about him?
