Yes. Tennessee law does not distinguish between open and concealed carry of a handgun. EDIT: You will notice you don’t see it much, and remember in Tennessee carrying past a sign on a business is a misdemeanor ($500 fine only) So if you open carry; keep your eyes open.

Kentucky man fatally shot by officer during explosive device investigation

He didn’t either. This story doesn’t tell why he was placing IED’s in the woods? -
Handgun Carry Permit Improvements

Was this law not part of negotiations in the state legislature to get handgun carry passed? -
REALLY!?!?!? Police shoot civilian training academy student
DaveTN replied to chances R's topic in Training Discussions
Another case crossing the line from negligent to reckless. Obviously he swapped out the magazine without clearing the chambered round. The same level of safety is required for blanks as is for live ammo. He wasn’t qualified to meet that requirement; and that’s reckless when you are going to have live fire. On a lighter note…. Adult college graduates aren’t smart enough to recognize the sound of gunfire in a school building? Glad no one was hurt. -
Handgun Carry Permit Improvements
DaveTN replied to 300winmag's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Laws that have no penalties are ridiculous. And state governments that think they can outlaw the carry of guns, but force allowing carry down the throat of business owners simply because someone paid some money to the state is an example of a thug government. I have a carry permit, but I sure don’t think that trumps business owner’s rights to control whether or not guns are carried on their property. If I get caught carrying past a sign; I’ll pay $500. (Even though that has never happened to anyone that we know of here) I suggest spending all that time and energy on getting our state to recognize the 2nd amendment as an individual right and quit worrying about something that will probably never happen. -
The guy couldn’t have thought the person in the car was a threat. If they were they would have killed him when he walked up.

Having a loaded weapon and thinking you have an unloaded weapon and then pointing it at someone and pulling the trigger cross the line; it is reckless. So I assume charges will be filed. Prayers to everyone involved. -
He violated the law (although not aggravated assault); she didn’t. Sounds like the cops used their discretion on him carrying a rifle; that’s okay. I don’t know why the cops would tell her to go see the detectives. In Tennessee do detectives or the DA decided on charges? Where I was our Command Officers would have told us to do a report and forward it to the DA to see if they wanted to pursue it. As far as approaching the guy with weapons drawn; that would be standard procedure. Three cops in Baton Rouge (and many others in other places) are dead because they didn’t take a man with a gun call seriously.

Need to borrow inch lb torque wrench
DaveTN replied to bilcon1's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I’m not near you, and you didn’t ask about buying one, (free bump though) but I have this in my gun tool box; I use it for everything. Places like Midway sell them all the time for $50; sometimes you can find them on sale for less. Very high quality tool. http://www.btibrands.com/product/fat-wrench-with-10-bit-set/ I see that they now have a digital model. I may have to upgrade. http://www.btibrands.com/product/digital-fat-wrench/ -
As others said, the holster goes on the inside of your left leg. A boot or half boot that helps support it helps. A few days to get use to it. I would recommend a S&W J-frame or Ruger LCR over a Charter Arms. I carried a Model 36 S&W in an ankle holster for years. As far as hard to find on the Charter Arms; Buds has them in stock at a price you probably won’t find at your LGS. Every time I have ordered from them it has been at my LGS in 2-3 days.

I have a rifle in the Doskosport case it originally came in. I can’t really find a shipping box to put it in, but it really doesn’t need one; it is a lot sturdier than a box. If I tape it closed and put shipping labels on it will the post office accept it? My concern is that they may not accept it because it is obviously a rifle case.

I don’t think I have ever held one of these. Isn’t it the same size as the Shield? They need a .40S&W offering.

New Assault Weapon ban in Massachusetts
DaveTN replied to xsubsailor's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Smith & Wesson gives $500,000 to fight Massachusetts assault rifle ban. Sig Sauer donated $100,000. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/aug/04/smith-wesson-massachusetts-assault-rifles-ban-contribution That a good thing. Though I doubt it will do much good. They should have put that money towards a move to another state. If I were a state legislator here I would push for giving S&W and any other gun manufacturer’s free property, and tax breaks. -
I have always dreamed of designing and building one of the largest ranges ever built and keeping the price low enough that most families could afford to shoot on a regular basis. I would have never guessed there was a range 3.5 miles long; very impressive!

Three years ago I lost my best friend Harley. It was so hard on us that we didn’t know if we wanted another dog or not. I think it is time. We will be looking for a puppy. The dog will be a house dog, not kept outside and treated as well as anyone could hope for. I have a very large fenced property with plenty of room to run. We have some travel plans that interfere with us doing it right now, but we will be looking for a dog we can get around Christmas. We both have plenty of time off then to spend getting our new family member acclimated to its new home. If you are aware of any pups due around this time frame; please keep me in mind. Thanks This is Harley; feel free to post picks of your kids.

Firearms Insurance - Proof of Ownership on Inheritance Question
DaveTN replied to Hammer285's topic in General Chat
Since you obtained them legally I would ask my insurance agent that question while we were discussing the other questions you will have about your gun policy. -
I doubt it; that location is on there because it is required by Federal law.

That video shows the millions of dollars’ worth of custom tooling built to produce that product. That’s why it’s tough to justify buying more tooling to produce more during a spike in sales. Seeing the amount of lead used in one day is pretty impressive; it goes to show how many people are shooting. Especially when you figure that is just one supplier. As I watched that I was thinking that the EPA trying to shut down lead production in the U.S. (if they haven’t already) must be a big concern to them. Being dependent on foreign lead will not be good for anyone (except the foreigners). However I’m sure they are on the front lines of trying to adjust to lead free ammunition. Of course they always have the price of copper to deal with.

Was he in immediate danger of death or great bodily harm? We have no idea; I guess a Judge/Jury will make that call. I wasn’t there and don’t know if he could have driven out of it or not. But it’s ones word against the other. Be the first to make that call to Police if you have to pull a gun whether you have to shoot or not. But if he waited a couple of days; he’s toast. It sounds like maybe they had the guys plate number (unless the press just decided to put it in after he was arrested.). I wonder what the story was when they went to his house looking for him?

Steel doesn’t seal the chambers like brass does. You will get carbon build up and fouling from the coating; which will cause the cases to get stuck. If you thoroughly clean your revolver after each use; you can reduce your chances of having problems. If you have cases get stuck; well then you have done the testing yourself and have the answer. You won’t have any problems…. Until you do. Steel case can damage extractors and chambers. I would never use it in anything I own. Of course it’s cheap; so it’s going to get used by some. I put this in the same category as constantly dry firing. People want to do it so they justify it. It’s their guns they can do as they want. I just hope I don’t guy any guns from anyone that does it.

Her plan for gun control is the same as any other Democrats; make sure no one has any disposable income to buy any.

For you motorcycle girls, guys, and history buffs
DaveTN replied to A.J. Holst's topic in General Chat
I have only had one; but I’ve had it for 21 years. 1995 Ultra Tourglide (FLTCU) I was raised on ricers; I’ve had 13 of them. Just recently got back a 76 Kawasaki 900 I owned 25 years ago. -

Yep… if he choked to death there is a problem. I didn’t catch the ages the first time I read it. There has to be more to the story.

That guy will probably get sent to prison for manslaughter. I would guess the autopsy will show the gag killed him. No need to gag him. We need our fleeing forcible felon statutes back. Of course that will never happen.
