“Plus a panel debate on gun control”. Who is on the panel? The trailer makes it appear to be against gun control. Before I give them any money; which side of this issue are they on?
-
I'm surprised (although I shouldn't be) at the number of people that want to argue he has the right to do what he did and say what he said. Of course he has those rights. And the NFL team owners have the right to cut him or get rid of him if they don't agree with what he is doing, as long as they do it within the bounds of any contacts they have with him. I don't want him on any team I support and won't give any financial support to any team that hires him. I think it would be great if his NFL career were over because of what he did. “Oppresses black people” That is offensive to me and is untrue of my country. He is a perfect example of why it is a lie.

What do you expect out of it? A short barreled revolver isn't a target gun, so can I assume you are going to use it as a carry gun, or will it just be a range toy? Accuracy isn't going to be an issue with either on a belly gun, so its large frame, small frame, stainless, blue, nickel, adjustable sights, no sights, 5 shot, 6 shot, 7, 8 etc. Both are quality revolvers, the Smith & Wesson will have better resale if you sell it, but it will also cost more when you buy it. S&W has every option imaginable; Ruger is more limited in choices.

Sight solution for Long and short range
DaveTN replied to ReeferMac's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
A 3-9X40 would easily cover those ranges. It just doesn't get any better than Leupold and you can get a 3-9X40 VX-I at your local Walmart for $200. Or you can order online right now from B&H ( I buy most of my optics and camera gear from them) for $185 with a $50 rebate. That's $135; heck of a deal. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1035857-REG/leupold_113874_vx_1_3_9x40_duplex_riflescope.html/?c3api=3679%2Cbing%2C2764376395%2C1105202454799 -

Medical marijuana = no gun purchase

Has a court ruled that? -
Medical marijuana = no gun purchase
DaveTN replied to xsubsailor's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
It reads... "Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?" If I was a user of medical marijuana for pain I would answer “NO”, and not have a bit of problem with that. Sounds to me like someone wanted this case brought; or they were high when they were filling the form out. I doubt the SCOTUS will hear this case. Unless they just want to rule on it so they can say they are doing everything they can. -
Found the other gun owner in my complex...and he is dangerous
DaveTN replied to NotYetGecko45's topic in General Chat
Absolutely, and the ex-cop in me would have been seeking cover; not standing there getting shot. -

I would have called the cops. I would NOT have drawn my weapon while being painted with a laser. -
ATF Powder Reclassification Alarms Industry
DaveTN replied to gun sane's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Well… if this was announced over two months ago for immediate implementation; it hasn’t worked. Ammo is still being shipped. I too am curious to hear from the ammo manufacturers on this. -
Good, but there are a lot of people that think they have a right to damage a drone simply because they see it as an invasion of their privacy. As you can see from the law they could be charged and possibly convicted of a felony.
-
You did the right thing. If you see something; say something. A person walking around with a gun in his hand is not normal. The fact that he is a gun owner doesn't get him a free pass with me; he could be headed over to kill his neighbor. If he isn't doing anything wrong; he won't have any problems.
-
Nope, it isn't required to list the devices used.... You could also end up being charged with a felony. 39-14-408. Vandalism. (a) For purposes of this section: (1) "Damage" includes, but is not limited to: (A) Destroying, polluting, or contaminating property; (B) Tampering with property and causing pecuniary loss or substantial inconvenience to the owner or a third person; (C) Intentionally spilling, pouring, or otherwise administering chemicals or other toxic substances to or on the merchandise with the intent to: (i) Render the merchandise unusable or unsellable; or (ii) Alter the merchandise from its original or intended form; or (D) Destroying, harming, or decreasing the value of merchandise offered for sale by a retail merchant in any other manner; (2) "Merchandise" includes any goods, chattels, foodstuffs, or wares of any type of description, regardless of the value; (3) "Polluting" means the contamination by man-made or man-induced alteration of the chemical, physical, biological, or radiological integrity of the atmosphere, water, or soil to the material injury of the right of another. Pollutants include dredged soil, solid waste, incinerator residue, sewage, garbage, sewage sludge, munitions, chemical wastes, biological materials, radioactive materials, heat, wrecked or discarded equipment, rock, sand, cellar dirt, and industrial, municipal, and agricultural waste; (4) "Retail merchant" means any person primarily engaged in the business of making retail sales. For purposes of this subdivision (a)(4), "primarily" means that at least fifty percent (50%) of the taxable gross sales of the business are retail sales; and (5) "Retail sale" or "sale at retail" means any sale other than a wholesale sale. (b) A person commits the offense of vandalism who knowingly: (1) Causes damage to or the destruction of any real or personal property of another or of the state, the United States, any county, city, or town knowing that the person does not have the owner's effective consent; (2) Solicits, directs, aids, or attempts to aid another to commit vandalism of a retail merchant, while acting with the intent to promote or assist the commission of vandalism of a retail merchant, or to benefit in the proceeds or results of the offense; (3) Damages merchandise offered for retail sale by a retail merchant; or (4) Facilitates commission of vandalism of a retail merchant or acts as an accessory after the fact to vandalism of a retail merchant. (c) (1) A person violating subdivision (b)(1) or (b)(3) is a principal under § 39-11-401 and shall be punished as for theft under § 39-14-105, after determining value under § 39-11-106. (2) A person violating subdivision (b)(2), is a principal under § 39-11-402 and shall be punished as for theft under § 39-14-105, after determining value under § 39-11-106. (3) A person violating subdivision (b)(4) by facilitating a felony act of vandalism committed under subdivision (b)(1) or (b)(3), shall be punished one (1) classification lower than the value of the act of vandalism committed under subdivision (b)(1) or (b)(3). (4) A person violating subdivision (b)(4) as an accessory after the fact, under § 39-11-411, to a felony act of vandalism committed under subdivision (b)(1) or (b)(3) commits a Class E felony.

Another case of the legal system not keeping up with technology. I doubt there will ever be laws that will allow someone to shoot down a drone unless it presents a threat. You can’t shoot someone for trespassing on your property. So I assume it will be addressed in trespass laws. To me its just common sense. You don’t fly a drone over other people’s property without permission. But if someone does; you don’t get to shoot it.

That’s great because I have a couple of questions for you.

If I have a gift card from a gun store; it has absolutely no chance of expiring before I use it.

I don’t know what you had before, but the X1 is great compared to the old Comcast. I was supposed to be able to upgrade for free. They added $20 on. The person said they could not take it off, I ask to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor told me he would not take it off either. When I ask to speak to his Supervisor he told me “I’m the last person you will be speaking to tonight”. I thought my head was going to explode. But I got it taken care of by email though their customer service. They won’t give you the best price without doing that. In two years your bill will take a GIANT leap. You will have two call them and they will bring it back down for another two year agreement. They keep doing that to me and I have been with them for over 15 years. So why do we stick with them? Because they don’t have any competition because of government involvement. My service is fantastic. I have internet so fast the numbers don’t matter and every TV channel known to man. I just wish they had some competition .
-
I don’t need to see it, or feel it, I already know what I want and am willing to buy it. All I need to know is if they have it, or if they can get it, and what is the price. I just ordered a shotgun two weeks ago and ordered a new AR-10 today. Both were done without me going anywhere or talking to anyone. Now I need to sell something. I see M1 Carbines and Garands are bringing crazy azz prices on GB.

Congratulations the 686 is the best revolver ever made. (Yep, I said “ever”) For a 2.5” carry gun you might want to look at the 66 K-frame. Of course it will cost you more than that new L-frame. Next, try a 4 or 6”. They are amazing target guns out of the box. True quality revolvers are addicting no matter who makes them S&W, Ruger Colt.

Was there a sign up?

I have never been much of a shotgun fan. I sold them all off a few years ago as I was getting older and didn’t enjoy the punishment anymore. All my experience is mostly with defensive shotguns with rifled slug barrels and rifle sights, using 00 buck or slugs. I have some friends and family members that are into trap, skeet and sporting clays. I thought I would get a shotgun and give this is a try. So last week I got a Remington 1100 competition synthetic 12GA. It has a 30” barrel and comes with 5 chokes. I thought I would start with trying trap. So what’s the best ammo to use? I was in Wal-Mart today and they had 100 round packs of Federal Field & Target for $21.74. That seemed pretty cheap. They aren’t even listed on Federals website. Is this stuff any good? What do you guys recommend?

Policy wonk proposes practically eliminating cash
DaveTN replied to Hershmeister's topic in General Chat
Correct, I was talking about everyday use. All my private gun sales are cash. If I’m buying they usually only take cash and if I’m selling cash is the only thing I accept unless I’m shipping; then I accept a USPS money order. But I don’t ship until I go to the post office and cash it. But with my day to day stuff; everything goes on a Sears Mastercard. I get a $500 gift card at least once a year and sometimes twice a year. They just paid for a big chuck of a washing machine. -

DaveTN replied to Hershmeister's topic in General Chat
True, but it’s also true you can’t stop payment on cash if you need to. Do you get a 3% discount at the grocery store when you pay cash? I don’t. As a matter of fact the only place I personally have been offered a discount for cash is buying guns on-line. No, that would be the time to use cash. I swipe my card and roll; they probably take longer giving you change. No I’m stating it; but that doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with it. Some people won’t buy a gun from an FFL because they don’t want the sale recorded; nothing wrong with that. I’ve bought guns and paid cash because I didn’t want to deal with questions from the wife; nothing wrong with that either. I’m not saying there is anything wrong with using cash. I’m just saying I choose to get the kickbacks from the credit card companies. I pay my credit card bill when it comes due; so it’s free money. -

I don’t know why anyone would want to use cash, unless it’s something you don’t want a record of, when credit card companies give you cash back so you pay less than the guys paying cash.
