  1. Here are two places that have it in stock. The price is higher, but if the place you have a price from is legit; many places will price match. Might be worth a try. http://oakhillguns.com/pistol/cz-usa/cz-75-sp-01-shadow-orange-9mm.html http://czcustom.com/new-firearms/cz-pistols-custom/cz-75-sp01-9-shadow-2016-orange.html
  2. They show 2 in stock right now.
  3. This is a showdown between the legislature and the city governments involved. My guess is that the legislature will blink and back off. Carrying past a sign for HCP holders only (special group) doesn’t have the support of the people. I also think it will happen soon. If the legislature cared enough about this to get in a pizzing match with the cities over it; we would be a Constitutional carry state. They don’t.
  4. I knew "climate change" was probably the cause. Does it never get old?
  5. What is Google Fiber going to have to offer over Comcast?
  6. That’s a target gun; not a carry gun. Not really any point in the added cost of .40; I would go with 9mm for a range or competition gun. It’s touted on their website as “designed for IPSC standard division (USPSA limited division)”. So you kinda have to smile at “tactical” being in its name. I’ve never shot one, so I would want to know the accuracy. Also their website lists that gun as “Steel” not “stainless”; so what’s that finish?
  7. When I have to leave my laptop is in the car I leave a handgun lying on the dash. The gun is easier and cheaper to replace than the laptop. Just kidding. I have always thought it was common sense not to put Gun/NRA stickers or pot leaf stickers on a car.
  8. I hold a C&R. While I know it’s not a dealer’s license, I go by Federal law to CMA and my license. I also don’t want Mommy/Daddy calling me and giving me heck for selling Junior a gun.
  9. I BOS isn’t required by law; but you do have legal requirements. I can only sell to residents of this state and people that are of age; that is required by law and violating that can lead to my arrest. I can’t sell to a person that I know to be a felon; but the law gives me no way to check that other than asking them. If it should later become an issue of whether or not I knew; I have some support. If I don’t know the person I like to have a BOS showing I did what I could reasonably do to meet that requirement. I don’t need to know their address and they don’t need to know mine. So I found a BOS on the net and modified it. It was a short statement saying you are of age, a Tennessee resident, and can legally own a firearm. All the form has is our names and phone numbers with the firearm serial numbers. That’s all that’s needed. I am also concerned with stolen firearms; I hate a thief. If a seller balks at a BOS; I walk. I mean let’s get real here….. If you buy or sale a weapon the other person will at the very least have an email address, should have a telephone number and probably a license plate number. Should an issue arise and the cops get involved; that info will identify you. This is what I use….
  10. I had a Crossbreed SuperTuck for my M&P40 and just couldn’t deal with the Kydex. I sold it and was supposed to meet the buyer after work. ( I think it was someone off this forum) I left it in my car under the seat in the original package. When I came out after work it was seriously deformed. The Kydex J-hooks had opened up to almost 90 degrees. I will say however that I couldn’t have ask for much better support from Crossbreed. I emailed them what happened and they ask me to send it to them. Within just a few days I had a new holster in the mail. So other than the cost of sending it back to them I was back where I started. I should have known better; Kydex is a thermoplastic. But my holster melting was just not something I was use to thinking about.
  11. It’s noisy, it abrasive to the firearm, and it will melt when left in the car in Tennessee heat. Also I just really like leather. Almost all of my holsters are secured. Most Kydex holsters aren’t. Kydex is very popular and a heck of a lot easier and cheaper to custom make at home. I just hate the sound of a quality weapon being drug across Kydex; it’s like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. However, that’s just my personal opinion. If a holster holds the weapon where you want it, protects the weapon, and keeps the weapon secure; that’s all that counts. There are leather holsters that don’t do that either. I want to like Kydex. The cost and learning curve for making my own holsters would be much less. I just got two Ramora holsters in the mail. They aren’t secured either, and are as cheap as holsters get. But they looked interesting for the right application.
  12. I think that’s what he is trying to do. With “something like that” being getting a group of shooters together and sharing experience. Training requires live fire. Anything else is merely supplemental to that. There are plenty of folks on this forum and at the ranges that have a lot to offer and don’t have to get paid to offer it. Finding somewhere to have the meetings will be the challenge. To the OP… We have had impromptu meetings at Terry Walden’s range in Manchester. $10 to shoot all day. Pistol range and 300 yard rifle range. It’s an unsupervised range so whatever the folks that are there want to do is fine. I hear there is a good range at Woodbury where you might be able to get some folks together. I’ve never been to it though.
  13. I’m thinking about having you put your best edge on a Valor Butterfly knife. Am I crazy or what?
  14. Cost. “Add on to an annual membership” will stop it right there. If you can’t afford training classes you probably can’t afford a yearly membership and an “Add On” at an indoor range. You are talking hundreds of dollars (not counting all the ammo). I wish we could have local groups that meet on someone’s property to shoot. But I realize most wouldn’t take on that kind of liability. I have dreams of building a world class range and gun shop that would be affordable to all. Unfortunately, short of winning the lottery, that’s all it will probably be. I went to Illinois for the holiday weekend. We had a group of about 10 friends and family that went shooting on a private farm. Shotguns, handgun, rifles, we shot everything…good day. Then we put everything up and went to the bar. Great time was had by all.
  15. I don’t ever want to use Kydex holsters. However, they present a good opening for reholstering. Using extreme care when inserting a hot weapon is just a standard safety practice. Just like being prepared for the weapon to fire when you drop the slide, or having a secure holster. Murphy likes to hang around gun owners more than other folks.

    Ruger or S&W

My daughter is active in shooting. She works with cops, so she shoots what they shoot. Last weekend she was trying out her new M&P VTAC. I put a Model 19 in her hands (Beautiful nickel 6”) and said “Try this”. Needless to say she was impressed. I shoot them better than a Python.
  17. Possibly in legislative matters. If someone calls them about this; they will answer your questions. When I was arrested in Illinois for having a gun in my car I wanted to challenge the arrest as a violation of the 2nd amendment. I went to the NRA and they told me they don’t get involved in criminal cases. I have never belonged to the NRA since.

I’m not sure what you are saying, can you elaborate? Most of us that use revolvers in defensive scenarios (carry, home defense) are using 158 grain JHP .357Mag.
  19. Looks good. I have been thinking about learning leather holster making for something to do when I retire. With Kydex so easy and cheap to do there is going to be fewer companies doing leather.
  20. I bought a couple of new guns and went to Illinois to do some shooting. My friend in Champaign said they had a new store there. I must say I was really impressed. This place was huge and had one heck of a selection. Guns knives, ammo, bows….. Huge selection of everything. I had never heard of it before and wondered why they would put it right next door to a Dick’s. You can pass back and forth between their store and Dicks. When I checked out they ask for my Dicks card, so I guess it’s a new type of store for Dicks. My daughter went shooting with me and when I mentioned this store her eyes lit up and she said “Is that bad azz or what! I have a new favorite store.” I don’t think it was as big as our Bass Pro at Nashville, but it definitely had a lot more guns, knives and bows. http://www.fieldandstreamshop.com/s/stores
  21. This is what their website says... http://www.tnvalleyfair.org/safety.html
  22. I sure would like to see Smith & Wesson get out of there and move here.
  23. 2:15AM is explanation enough for me.
  24. Why would a store manager or a regional manager want to sell .17 but not .22? (If that’s what you are implying)
  25. Tyler T-grips were big in the 70's and into the 80's, but with so many companies like Ahrends and Houge making both wood and rubber grips in hand filling finger groove sizes; they went by the wayside.
